Chapter 1428: Chapter 3: The Crying from the Research Institute_2

Afterward, the Bearded Man went through the bodies again, taking handguns, bullets, and holsters, counting the number.

“Over 20 bullets, two handguns, feels like the bullet count is somewhat inadequate.”

He loaded the handgun magazines to full capacity, placed them back at his waist, and then put the remaining bullets and the other gun into his backpack, looking at CC:

“With 20 bullets, the firepower is still too little, not enough for us to handle the entire Evil Tribe, so we still need to make a trip to that concealed research facility in the mountains; at least dozens, if not hundreds of bullets, and only then can we muster the courage to avenge your parents.”

CC was silent for a moment.

She lifted her head:

“Can you teach me how to shoot a handgun?”

“You want to learn?”

The man looked at the slender little girl:

“You see me shooting may seem simple, but actually… I feel this isn’t a skill you can master, even the recoil is a challenge for you.”

“No problem.”

CC’s eyes were firm:

“If I can learn your gun skills, I can surely be of great help.”

“Besides, I’m the one who pulled you along to rescue my parents, these are my parents, I can’t just stand back and watch you fight alone, right?”

“Anyway, there are two guns in total, once I learn to shoot, I can fight alongside you!”

The man smiled:

“Alright.”

He agreed:

“As long as you want to learn, I can certainly teach you, but… as for the specific principles, I don’t understand them much, since I shoot based on feeling, I can teach you some aspects of feeling.”

“But currently there are only 20 bullets, they’re really too precious, it’s better not to waste them; besides, it’s nighttime, the sound of gunfire could attract beasts, bringing unnecessary trouble.”

“Including the strong smell of blood here, we definitely can’t camp here overnight, otherwise those fierce beasts will smell it and come… so, let’s lead the horse a bit farther away, find another place to rest.”

Subsequently.

The two prepared their supplies, hung them on the “clever stallion,” and then led the horse southward to a streamside, to live anew, and camp again.

After everything was organized, CC and the Bearded Man got ready for sleep.

Now, they’re not far from the concealed research facility, with this horse to ride, they can arrive by daylight tomorrow.

“Thanks to nature and the Evil Tribe’s generosity.”

The man rested his head on a soft cloth bag, closed his eyes, and went to sleep…

This night was his second after waking from hibernation, possibly because of the handgun at his waist, he slept better than yesterday.

However, he deliberately paid attention to see if he’d dream after falling asleep.

The result was disappointing.

Upon waking in the morning, even with effort to recall, there wasn’t the slightest impression, he was in a dreamless state all night.

“Really strange.”

The man pondered over it, baffled.

“VV, come eat!”

On the other side, CC had boiled water with a scavenged iron pot, roasted meat, and warmed bread, waiting for the man to eat.

“Alright, I’ll wash up first.”

The Bearded Man walked to the stream, washed his face which hadn’t seen water for a while.

But…

The big beard on his face was quite a nuisance, he completely didn’t know how to clean it.

This mass of beard started from the sideburns, covering the lower half of his face directly, like a mask.

“Whatever, just wash haphazardly.”

Apparently, there’s no muscle memory for washing a beard, he could only haphazardly dab it, then shook it twice, and dried it with his clothes.

He flicked it.

Pretty fluffy.

“VV! Stop playing with your beard! The meat is almost burnt!”

CC’s urging voice came from behind.

The man turned around and went to eat breakfast beside the fire.

After breakfast, sorted out various tools, and the two prepared to mount the horse.

The man stepped on the stirrup a few times but didn’t get up.

“Alright.”

He accepted the fact, confirming he had no muscle memory related to horseback riding:

“I seem to not know how to ride a horse.”

CC squinted her eyes, recalling he previously said he couldn’t use a handgun, now somewhat disbelieving:

“Do you really not?”

“This indeed I can’t.” The man smiled helplessly.

“Then let me ride.”

CC grabbed the saddle, agilely flipped up, directly leapt onto the horse, sitting steadily.

Then she moved forward slightly, patted the space behind:

“Sit behind me, hold my waist, be careful not to fall off.”

The stallion galloped through the forest, getting closer and closer to the mountains.

The mountain ahead had a very strange shape, rising abruptly without any transition, straight and sharp, like a blade.

Moreover, the nearly vertical mountain face had obvious stratification, layered like a stacked rainbow, different-colored sediment representing the passing ages.

“This mountain is so strange.”

The man looked at the increasingly near “Blade Mountain” and said:

“It seems abrupt appearing here.”

“Originally there wasn’t a mountain here.”

CC pulled the reins, kicked the horse’s belly twice with her right foot, explaining to the man:

“It was during the super disaster of 2504, the ground suddenly fractured and surged up, forming a mountain.”

“I see.”

The man understood.

No wonder a research facility is hidden in the mountain… Normally, few research facilities are built inside mountains; originally this was a plain, it was because of an earthquake or other intense geological movement squeezing out a mountain, that the research facility was pushed into the mountain.

This could be considered blessings in disguise.

If it weren’t hidden so well by the mountain, how could the research facility remain for 100 years for them to scavenge? Surely it would’ve been discovered earlier.

“This mountain is not easy to climb.”

The man remarked at the steep peak:

“Look at the vertical mountain face, there’s hardly any vegetation, not even a place for birds to perch, how did your dad get in there?”
