Chapter 337: Bitten
Chapter 337: Bitten
The entire world held their breath as they waited for the Vampire Queen’s request.
They wanted to know what she wanted that would make her give out the reward of Floor 100 so easily without putting up any fight.
Whatever she wanted, it definitely wouldn’t be simple.
And as each second passed, it felt as if hours were flashing by.
The Queen’s lips finally parted. She inhaled softly as though preparing to deliver a decree that would reshape everything—but then her eyes suddenly narrowed, locking onto the tiny camera strapped to Gabriel’s chest.
"It appears others are peering into our conversation."
She frowned.
Gabriel was at first confused about what she was talking about, but then he noticed her gaze on his chest, and realization struck him.
’She thinks she’s being watched without consent.’ he deduced. ’It’s better she thinks this way.’
On the outside, gasps rippled through the massive crowd. Shocked faces, dropped jaws, and shrieks of disbelief filled the open plaza.
"She actually sensed us, how is that even possible?!"
Alice stared at the screen wide-eyed, frozen.
Scarlet remained calm, not shocked in the slightest. Her lips parted slowly as she pointed out,
"If even the system has issues classifying her strength, then something this small shouldn’t be surprising."
Many top awakeners shared the same thought. At their level, perception stats were everything. A monster whose stats didn’t even display? That was a nightmare.
Still... no one liked this new development.
A vampire entity whose history was wiped, whose rank was unknown, and whose strength surpassed system limits now knew about them, the guild leaders, the government agents, the entire world watching her.
"What if she tries to break out of the tower... and attacks us?" someone whispered, trembling.
Thinking about this sent cold chills through several spines.
No information about the tower was known, or rather, nothing sufficient enough.
There were only tidbits scavenged from last records, so they weren’t sure if the monsters could spill out.
That possibility was terrifying.
Back inside, Gabriel remained standing with the Queen.
She stared at the tiny camera—something she shouldn’t even be able to see from her distance—and then waved her hand.
"Let me handle this."
The moment the words left her mouth, a thin crimson light spread out of her body.
Seeing this, most of the core members of Broken Dawn flinched back in fear.
When it touched them, nothing seemed to happen.
...at least for them.
On the outside, it was a different story entirely.
"Holy fuck, she messed with the feed!"
Yup. Outside, the viewers—both Doodle and those standing right outside the tower—were suddenly seeing nothing but a crimson screen.
"I wanted to see what would happen!"
"Someone should fix it!"
The viewers felt frustrated—just like when there was an outage of electricity during a pivotal point in a movie.
Ares frowned. He was clearly pissed as well. He wanted to know what the Queen wanted to demand and the reward that would be bestowed upon Gabriel and his subordinates.
The association scrambled, trying to fix the screen, but it wasn’t responsive.
At headquarters, the boss sharply shot one of the developers a glare.
"Can’t you fix it?"
"Sir, unfortunately not. Not even the NPCs can bring it on. Thus far we have only been able to stream th—"
"Try from the players’ perspective," he said, a serious look on his face.
The developer’s fingers hovered across his keyboard, typing several codes. After a while he glanced over and shook his head. "It’s not working."
The boss squeezed his lips together, fumes practically coming out of his nostrils.
’I hate this feeling... this feeling of being in the dark.’ he thought. ’That bastard is about to receive yet another game-changing boon... at least if I know what it is, it would be far easier to deal with him.’
...
Inside, the Queen smiled, displaying pearly white teeth.
Suddenly she snapped her fingers again.
This time, a blood-red wall slowly rose from behind Gabriel’s back.
Sophie, Anna, and Bunny frowned.
Gabriel looked at them and waved. "I’ll be fine, she won’t harm me."
Even after his words, they didn’t seem convinced and still looked worried.
When the wall was high enough that no one could see or hear what was going on behind it, the Queen nodded, satisfied.
"Better now."
"You can go on," Gabriel said.
Without beating around the bush she stated, "I need you to help me discover myself again."
Gabriel didn’t ask how he was supposed to do that, considering his knowledge about vampires was limited.
Even in his past life he hadn’t encountered them frequently, so his understanding of them was lacking.
"I accept," he said calmly, in a firm tone.
The Queen appeared taken aback.
"You’ll accept it just like that?"
"Yes."
Hearing the confirmation, a beautiful, rare smile slowly blossomed on her face. Her smile was radiant and enchanting—capable of hypnotizing others.
"Thank you."
She slowly rose from her seat and then slowly approached Gabriel.
His eyebrows arched slightly, wondering why she was coming towards him. His hand slowly inched toward Crimson Judgement.
The Queen’s eyes trailed downward, clearly noticing his gesture. She clearly didn’t mind and continued walking forward.
She was barefoot, and something about her walk was very mesmerizing to watch.
When they were only an arm’s length apart, she paused and looked Gabriel in the eyes.
"To help me retain my memories, I’ll need your help to leave this tower."
"Need my help?"
Was that even possible?
Wasn’t she a fixed boss meant to be defeated?
"How would I do that?" he asked, genuinely curious.
"It’s easy," she claimed.
The next moment—before Gabriel could react—the Queen lunged forward, tightly wrapped her arms around him, her teeth elongated, and they sank into his neck.
