Chapter 338: Bonding with the Vampire Queen
Chapter 338: Bonding with the Vampire Queen
Gabriel’s eyes popped wide open when he felt the teeth sink into his skin.
’So fast.’ he gasped in his mind. His Perception stat was over 200, even higher than some Hero Ranks.
Yet he only saw a vague outline of her. The next thing he knew, her arms were already wrapped around his neck.
Summoning all the strength he could muster, Gabriel tried to push her away. However, she only tightened her grasp even further, locking him in a powerful hold and draining the air from his lungs.
"Don’t fight it," she whispered, sending jolts of electricity through his nerves.
Of course Gabriel didn’t listen; he tried his very best to push her away, but the harder he tried, the weaker he became.
It felt as if she was sapping his life source away. The feeling was painful—yet, on the contrary, it was strangely pleasant.
With that intoxicating sensation and the coldness emitting from her body, if not for the current situation he might have collapsed willingly.
But that pleasant feeling came with a cost, and that cost was his strength.
He grew sluggish. His eyes became hazy, his legs weaker. He was barely standing upright.
Because his mind was clouded, he couldn’t even form coherent thoughts.
After what felt like an eternity, the Vampire Queen finally took a step back, leaving him to stand on his own.
Now that he was supporting his own weight, his knees buckled, a loud crack echoing through the throne hall.
On the other side of the blood walls, the others became anxious as they heard the sound.
Sophie placed a hand on the wall and tried to listen.
When she couldn’t hear anything clearly, a trace of fear flashed across her eyes.
"I’m not tripping, right? Was that the sound of bone snapping?" Ragnarok99 voiced what the others were too afraid to say.
No one replied—only staring at the wall with growing worry.
On the other side...
"What... did... you do to me?"
Gabriel gasped, his eyes flashing with anger. Every word was strained, his chest rising and falling hectically.
"You will be fine," the Queen only said.
’What do you mean I’ll be fine when you just bit me out of the blue?!’
That was what Gabriel wanted to shout, but he was too weak. His legs finally gave way.
BANG!
His knees smashed into the ground hard, forming tiny cracks, then the other knee followed.
Afterward, he fell stomach-first. His vision swam, and the last thing he saw was the Vampire Queen’s long, slender legs.
Then his gaze shut closed.
"As expected. Not even he could withstand it," she muttered, half disappointed.
She snapped her fingers and retrieved a white handkerchief. She squatted to his level and began to wipe the neck that was still bloody.
Slowly and deliberately, she cleaned the area, revealing a marking of two teeth that shimmered faintly.
"Success. His body is compatible." She smirked, sighing in relief. ’If it had failed, who knew when I would have this chance again.’
Done cleaning his neck, she pushed a stray strand of hair away from his temple. She stood there, doing nothing else but admiring his face.
’Not only is his blood extremely delicious, he’s also strikingly handsome... In the future, as he gets stronger, it would only become even more refined.’
Yes, that was how it worked in this world—the more one leveled up, the more refined the body became, as all impurities were expelled.
Some time later...
Gabriel felt a banging headache, as if his head was being smashed by a hammer. He still felt weak, but compared to before, it was better.
Pushing himself up, memories of what had transpired resurfaced in his mind. Immediately, a deep frown formed.
The first thing he did was place his hand on his neck.
It felt warm. However, that wasn’t much confirmation. For all he knew, maybe the Turning had messed with his mind.
He next stared at his arms. They looked normal. His skin wasn’t pale like vampires; his usual natural tan with its radiant glow was still there.
He didn’t feel extra teeth jutting out of his mouth, nor did he feel an intense craving for blood like the movies depicted when someone turned into a vampire.
’She didn’t turn me... but that bite.’ Gabriel stood there in a daze as all his anger slowly washed away.
He could still vividly remember her teeth on his neck.
Touching the spot, he could still feel the bite mark.
Quickly, he scanned the throne room but didn’t find anyone there. The three powerful Knights were gone. The throne was nowhere to be seen.
What remained was the black crystal hanging overhead, the red carpet, and the blood walls behind him.
"It appears someone is missing me already," a familiar voice said.
That voice... it was the Queen’s. There was no way he would forget it so soon.
A figure materialized before him.
It was the Queen.
Gabriel’s expression remained calm.
"What did you do to me?" was the first question he asked.
"I bonded with you," the Queen smiled.
"Bonded?"
"Yes. The best way for me to leave this Tower is to bond with someone, and you were the best option," she explained.
He wasn’t a noob. He had heard about players bonding with rare beasts and treasures, forming links. Through these links they became companions who could follow them anywhere.
Sometimes they could even share powers.
It was like a summon—just like Grizzlenaught—only far more sentient.
Their relationship strictly depended on the master’s will. It could be a master-servant relationship, or—
Gabriel froze.
His heartbeat slowed.
Something clicked in his mind.
From what he remembered, all players who bonded with entities were always the masters in the relationship.
Did the ancient vampire who wasn’t even able to be classified by the System...
just willingly become his slave?
