Chapter 339: Dante Ironheart
Chapter 339: Dante Ironheart
Dante scratched his cheek as he stared at the towering wooden walls.
"Huh. Looks sturdy."
"It is... at least visually." The butler nodded. "Young Master Kairos finally started showing effort. I must commend him later for—"
The gate guards didn’t let them finish.
"Halt!"
Seven players and NPCs rushed forward, spears and rifles raised. Their faces showed clear tension, but also something else—fatigue, as if they’d been stressed for days.
One guard pointed at the truck. "Identify yourselves!"
Dante tilted his head, confused.
"We’re entering the camp," was what he said.
"This is Broken Dawn territory!" the guard snapped. "Kairos and Bai Young no longer rule here!"
The butler stopped mid-step.
"...Pardon?" he asked politely.
The guard continued aggressively, "The former lords have been overthrown. This camp belongs to the Broken Dawn guild now. If you take one more step inside, we’ll be forced to—"
"Eh?" Dante blinked. "Overthrown? Kairos? Bai Young? Those two?"
He wasn’t angry.
He wasn’t shocked.
He simply looked like someone who’d heard the world’s funniest lie and was trying to process it.
The butler, on the other hand, stood completely still.
Then his eyes opened slowly, almost... dangerously.
’Overthrown? Impossible. Unless... something really did happen.’
Before any of them could react, two figures emerged from the gate.
SniperBowLegend stepped out first, wearing his usual calm expression. Right beside him was Amelia, the head servant Gabriel left behind, her hair tied neatly, her eyes hinting at exhaustion.
Both stopped the moment they saw the massive Dante standing there like a misplaced mountain.
Amelia’s brows furrowed, and she spoke first. "State your identity."
Meanwhile, SniperBowLegend took a look at the huge man; his eyes flashed sharply, clearly surprised and intimidated by his size.
Dante waved casually. "Yo."
The guards almost dropped their weapons.
But the butler stepped forward, adjusting his gloves with a crisp motion. His posture changed instantly—from calm attendant to high-ranking representative.
He bowed slightly.
"Allow me to introduce myself properly."
He raised his head. "I am Geoffrey, personal butler to Dante Ironheart, General of the Second Battalion."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Even the wind paused as if trying to process what was just dropped into the chat.
Geoffrey continued, voice steady and laced with authority. "This naturally makes my master the number two individual in the entire Eastern Camp."
Amelia choked on her breath.
SniperBowLegend’s eyes widened.
The guards who had just yelled ’halt’ looked like they were about to faint.
At this point, everyone knew who the Eastern Camp was... they were one of the overlords in this area.
Amelia swallowed hard and leaned slightly toward SniperBowLegend. Her voice dropped to a terrified whisper.
"That position... means he commands thousands of fighters. Even Hero Ranks bow to him."
SniperBowLegend’s pupils dilated even further. "Then that giant—"
"Yes," Amelia said, struggling to maintain her composure. "He’s one of the Eastern Camp’s top powerhouses. If he wanted to flatten this place, it wouldn’t take him up to a minute..."
SniperBowLegend stiffened like a statue.
Even those that had previously stopped and talked to him rudely subconsciously took a step back, praying that the human giant had already forgotten their earlier hostility and disrespect.
Dante scratched his cheek again, still looking confused about the whole situation. He glanced around the Broken Dawn walls, nodding in approval.
Naturally, he still didn’t believe that Kairos and Bai Young had fallen. He took it as a silly joke.
The butler cleared his throat right at that moment. "Your subordinate said something about the camp being taken over... I’d like to believe that is false."
The atmosphere became awkward.
No one knew what to say... not after knowing the identity of this person.
Amelia quickly stepped forward and gave a respectful bow, more out of instinct than etiquette. "We apologize for the earlier hostility. We... didn’t know who we were speaking to."
"That’s fine," Dante said casually. "Tell me the guards earlier were joking."
SniperBowLegend looked away, and Amelia’s lips pressed together as if tasting something bitter.
Geoffrey caught it instantly, his eyes flashing in anger as he realized they weren’t bluffing.
"There was a takeover. The Broken Dawn guild assumed control of this area. Lord Gabriel Reyes is the current lord of this camp. He is—"
"Reyes?" Geoffrey interrupted, eyes narrowed. "That guy?"
"You know him?" Dante turned to his butler.
"No," Geoffrey said flatly. "Never met him. But the Council won’t shut up about him lately... there were even plans to recruit him."
"Never heard of him."
’Of course you didn’t, as you never paid attention,’ was what the butler wanted to say, but instead he shifted his focus back to the others.
"Could you do us a favour and tell us everything that happened?" The butler asked, still strangely polite.
This only made the Broken Dawn members more anxious. The fact that he was still calm after hearing this was baffling.
A normal reaction of anger would have made the tension less suffocating.
Amelia hesitated, then inhaled and began recounting everything quickly, how Gabriel arrived, how the previous commanders lost their position, how the camp changed hands overnight.
She had carefully omitted the part where Gabriel had killed Kairos and Bai Young.
It was better they didn’t find out until Gabriel returned. If they were to find out that those two were dead, they wouldn’t be this calm.
Right now, they probably thought the two were just captured and imprisoned.
Throughout her explanation, Dante stayed quiet.
But his expression slowly darkened, not with anger, but disappointment.
"Tsk." He clicked his tongue. "That brat."
Geoffrey folded his arms. "Well... this explains why we received no reports. And why the lord sent us to investigate."
The butler eyed the camp again, observing the reconstruction, the organized patrols, the far more disciplined layout.
"It appears the Broken Dawn guild has done a better job managing this camp than Kairos ever did.
"But." He suddenly added.
’I always knew there was a "but",’ Amelia thought inwardly, still surprised how the butler could remain calm and not snap at them.
He continued, "For taking over the camp, you are now automatically an enemy of the Eastern and Northern Camp Alliance."
The butler stepped further toward the gate.
"If you’ll excuse me, we shall enter and speak directly with this Gabriel... there’s still time for him to hand over the camp back to us. At most, the camp would give him a painless death."
It was at this moment that SniperBowLegend finally moved. He stepped forward, blocking the path of the butler and the human giant who towered over him.
Compared to the big man, the quiet professional archer looked like a toddler.
"I’m afraid this is where our generosity comes to an end."
Immediately, the calmly composed demeanor of the butler finally changed.
"You dare stand in the way of the Eastern Camp?" he asked coldly.
