Chapter 344: Ares Makes His Move

Chapter 344: Ares Makes His Move

Outside the tower, the crowd had never left. They were all eager to know the reward the Broken Dawn had received for reaching the top floor.

The association workers were still trying to fix the surveillance issue, but from their expressions alone it was quite easy to tell the problem far surpassed even their capabilities.

"I clearly saw that..." Lilly frowned. "I think it was the queen who cut us off."

"That’s obvious enough, genius..." Alice clicked her tongue. "Everyone clearly saw that."

Lilly glared at the assassin with a slightly embarrassed expression but swallowed hard and faced forward once more.

Soon, one of the association workers approached Scarlet, who had remained quiet all this while, completely removed from the conversations around her.

"Vice guild leader... there’s no way for us to fix the surveillance footage," he reported, beads of sweat rolling down his temple. He avoided her gaze out of embarrassment for his incapability.

"It’s not your fault," Scarlet said calmly. "The disruption came from the outside after all."

Because the guilds were standing relatively close to each other, Martial Palace and Olympus overheard them as well.

"Wait, so we won’t get to know what rewards he got?" Liang sighed, asking no one in particular.

A frown appeared on Jack Airfield’s face as well. If they had seen the treasure Gabriel received, they would have an idea of how to counter it in case there was conflict between the two sides.

But now, that wouldn’t be possible.

This was the thought of every powerhouse watching the event live. Some wanted to see if the treasure was worth stealing, while others were interested in forming alliances.

The developers fell into the category of people who wanted to steal the treasure themselves. Because of this unexpected development, their plans had been shattered, and the fury of the big boss could be felt by everyone.

Ares, still on the balcony, watched quietly, his expression calm. Unlike the others, he wasn’t planning to steal or form a trivial partnership with Broken Dawn.

He was still going with his original plan—to recruit Gabriel and merge their two guilds.

With his status, and Olympus being the number one guild for several decades, he was confident that the latter would comply.

Suddenly, a ripple appeared on the portal.

All eyes, including those from the broadcasting station, focused on it, watching with sharp anticipation.

That ripple only appeared when someone was about to exit, and the only ones still left inside were the Broken Dawn members. Without a doubt, it was them.

Ares finally moved from his spot. He stepped off the building and gently hovered down. The moment people noticed the shifting shadows, they immediately created a wide circle for him.

Thud.

The guild leader of Olympus landed softly, his steps echoing slightly as he walked forward, the crowd parting naturally.

He arrived at the front, standing a few meters away from the portal that served as the gateway to the tower.

His sudden appearance drew the attention of the others, especially the vice guild leaders.

Jack stared at his master with slightly confused eyes, while Scarlet sneaked a glance at him from the corner of her vision.

"Why is father still here?" Aria whispered.

This was not how the old man operated. He was always busy, always had something to attend to.

Naturally, she was curious.

At that moment, the rippling stopped as a figure stepped out of the portal. His crimson hair fell lazily over his temple, and his electric blue eyes held a sharp gleam within them.

Moments after he exited, the rest of his team followed and stood beside him.

Immediately, the journalists rushed forward, flashing camera lights and shoving microphones into his face.

"Sir Gabriel Reyes! Can I have a moment?"

"Sir Broken! What treasure did you get?"

"Is it true you fought the Floor 100 Boss alone?"

Camera flashes went off like fireworks. Microphones were practically jammed into his space, to the point Alice instinctively reached for her dagger.

Sophie nearly panicked. She didn’t like being under such scrutiny; her identity could be exposed. Cassie noticed this and stepped forward to shield her from the flashing lights.

It was utter madness.

Even the broadcast drones hovering above began zooming dangerously close, trying to capture Gabriel’s expression from every angle.

His expression remained cold and firm.

But the reporters weren’t intimidated at all. In fact, it somehow made them push forward even more.

"Sir Gabriel! The world wishes to know if you received any martial type treasure!"

"Gabriel Reyes! Did you obtain anything that could influence guild warfare?"

"What rank is your reward? Silver? Gold? Legendary? M-Mythic?!"

Being a guild leader in his past life, Gabriel was familiar with being in the spotlight, so he didn’t lose his cool or composure for even a moment.

When the rank of his treasure was asked, he didn’t respond immediately. As if sharing a common thought, the entire area quieted down. They all waited for his reply.

"That is confidential," he eventually said in a low, firm voice that reached everyone present.

There were whispers, and then one of the braver journalists gulped and raised a trembling hand.

"Sir Gabriel... then can you please tell the world what treasure you obtained inside Floor 100?"

"That is confidential as well," he said. "You don’t need to know the rank or the treasure itself."

That elicited a lot of murmuring and whispers, with some calling him rude and arrogant.

The place became noisy again, everyone talking at once.

Meanwhile, Ares watched all of this with a calm, unreadable face. To him, this was still the perfect opportunity. The chaos was good. The noise was good. It created the perfect pretext for him to step forward as the responsible leader approaching Gabriel.

He took one step.

Just one.

The crowd split again, even wider than before.

The journalists immediately quieted, as if someone pressed a universal mute button.

"Guild Leader Ares!"

"It’s Olympus!"

"He’s making a move!"

Jack straightened his back, uneasy seeing his master approach. Aria frowned while Scarlet narrowed her eyes.

Gabriel stared blankly at the reporters who had suddenly gone silent under Ares’ presence.

"Interview over," Ares Dunhold spoke in an authoritative tone. "I’d like to have a word with Guild Master Reyes."
