Chapter 349: Raigebait

Chapter 349: Raigebait

When Dante had asked that question, Gabriel had naturally frozen in his steps. Meanwhile, Dante slowly picked himself up as well.

The two stood about fifteen feet apart as they locked gazes together. Dante’s large chest rose and fell heavily due to their intense clash from moments earlier.

He stared at Gabriel with an expectant gaze, waiting to hear his answer.

Gabriel’s expression did not falter even for a second. With a calm look on his face, he spoke in a firm voice.

"I killed both of them."

His voice traveled far and wide.

Even Geoffrey, who had woken up moments later, was shocked. His face was swollen, one eye closed completely, and his pupils trembled violently.

"K k killed... he killed the youngest lord?" Goosebumps rose across his entire body.

All this time, he had believed the otherworlders and guards were bluffing. But hearing it directly from the boss of the camp erased every remaining doubt in his mind.

Scarlet’s eyes flashed, but she did not comment. She simply looked at Gabriel.

At the side, Lilly’s expression was visibly tense. Her fingers twitched constantly, betraying her nervousness.

"Guild master, are you sure it was the right decision to enter an alliance with him?" Lilly asked silently. "I mean, he is strong, but he has a terrible knack for making enemies. Is he not afraid of death?"

Scarlet remained quiet for a moment before responding. "Someone that strong has to have a downside as well. The universe is never fair."

Alice frowned. "Big sister, are you saying that is his flaw? Making enemies?"

"That appears to be so. It is impossible not to make enemies with such a fearless and unapologetic attitude," Lilly said quietly.

"You fools. You do not understand the gravity of those words, do you?" Geoffrey’s voice rang out.

He was bound tightly with vines and lay at Sophie’s feet.

Everyone shifted their gaze toward him.

"Please, enlighten us," Scarlet said calmly.

Geoffrey’s expression twisted with rage as he spoke. "Young Master Kairos is the blood brother of the Lords of the East and Northern camps. By killing him, that sick red haired man has signed a death"

BANG!

A foot smashed into Geoffrey’s face, burying him into the ground. Ragnarok99 slowly lifted his foot from the middle aged man’s face.

"No disrespect against Sir Broken will be tolerated."

"They are making the situation worse. If they apologize, maybe they could still be saved," Lilly cried out.

"Apologize and Gabriel in the same sentence?" Alice clicked her tongue. "Though I have not known him for long, I am certain that is something he would never do."

"So what happens now? Does this mean we are enemies of those bandits as well?"

"I am afraid to admit this, but technically"

...

Dante remained in place for a moment. Even his chest stopped rising and falling. He simply stood there, stunned, trying to process Gabriel’s words.

"If I had the chance to do it again, I would," Gabriel said as he stepped forward. "And you, for hurting my subordinate, will accompany him in the afterlife."

The audacity and arrogance of those words stunned not only Dante, but the onlookers as well.

Lilly felt like shouting at Gabriel to stop talking already. He was clearly making things worse.

Meanwhile, Alice only smirked as she whispered under her breath. "Rage bait. Peak rage bait."

"What does that mean?" Lilly asked.

"It is the act of deliberately provoking someone by striking their pride, ego, or beliefs," Alice replied calmly. "To push them into making mistakes."

Lilly stared at her. "That is brilliant."

"It is not all that," Alice shrugged. "But it works. You need strong emotional control not to be triggered. For example, using something like that on sister would be useless. That robot would not even budge."

At her words, Scarlet did not reply, but a knowing and almost imperceptible smile appeared on her lips.

On the battlefield, Dante finally moved.

His shoulders dropped slightly. The excitement that had burned in his eyes faded, replaced by something far colder.

Hatred.

The earth beneath his feet cracked faintly.

"So," he said slowly, his voice losing its playful edge. "You killed Kairos."

Gabriel did not stop walking.

Each step was steady. Controlled.

"I did," he replied.

Dante clenched his fists. Veins bulged along his arms as his aura surged violently outward, pressing against everything around him.

Several weaker players staggered back, their knees buckling.

"You know what you did, right?" Dante asked in a low voice. "You did not just kill a bandit leader. You killed the younger brother of the Lords of the East and the North."

Gabriel stopped. They now stood barely ten feet apart.

"I know," he said.

Silence followed.

A heavy, suffocating silence.

Dante’s lips trembled.

Then he laughed. Not loudly, not crazily, but in a slow, broken sound filled with barely restrained fury.

"Hah... hah..." He raised his head, his eyes glowing with a terrifying light. "Good. Very good."

Gabriel suddenly smirked. "But do you know what makes this funny? His cries when I broke his legs. I bet your cries would be even more entertaining."

Crack. BOOM!

The air exploded outward as Dante released his aura fully. A visible wave of pressure slammed into Gabriel.

Dust surged everywhere. The recently built wooden houses creaked violently, as if they were about to collapse. By now, all the natives and players had retreated over fifty meters away, sensing that they could lose their lives from just the aftershocks of the clash that was about to happen.

Yet despite all this, Gabriel did not move.

His boots dug into the ground. Crimson Judgement hummed softly, responding to the hostility.

"Come at me," Gabriel said calmly.

That sentence was the final straw.

Dante roared.

The earth erupted.

Massive pillars of stone shot upward around the battlefield, forming a crude arena that sealed the two of them off from the rest of the camp.

Sophie’s expression darkened. "He is isolating the fight."

Scarlet nodded as she observed the visible spike in Dante’s stats. "He is serious now."
