Chapter 362: Making Preparations [4]

Chapter 362: Making Preparations [4]

"Of course not. Why would I want to kill the person who would help me find my identity?" Seraphina frowned.

"Thought as much," Gabriel shrugged. "Get over it already."

Seraphina exhaled quietly, then took a step back, her bare feet gliding across the cold stone floor. The playful atmosphere around her faded, replaced by something much more serious.

"Alright," she said. "But don’t complain later."

She adjusted her stance, one leg sliding back slightly as her posture shifted. Even without releasing her full power, the air around her subtly distorted, a faint crimson pressure bearing down on the warehouse.

Gabriel stood still. He didn’t brace or reinforce his body with mana and simply waited.

"Ready? Here I come!" The vampire queen moved.

There was no exaggerated wind up, no dramatic flare. Her foot struck Gabriel squarely in the abdomen with a dull, heavy thud that echoed throughout the warehouse.

BOOM.

The impact sent a ripple through the air, dust shaking loose from the cracked ceiling above.

Yet Gabriel remained standing.

His feet stayed firmly planted on the ground, his upper body barely swaying as the force dissipated through him. The expected pain never came. Instead, what he felt was closer to pressure, like being shoved hard against a wall without the crushing aftermath.

Seraphina’s eyes widened. She withdrew her leg slowly, staring at him as if she was seeing him for the first time.

"Although I used only half of my strength, for you to still remain in your spot is very impressive," she said, genuine praise slipping into her voice.

"Alright. This time, use your full strength," Gabriel ordered.

She stared at him for a long moment, her crimson eyes narrowing slightly as she reassessed the man standing before her.

"You’re serious," she said slowly.

Gabriel nodded once. His expression was calm, almost indifferent, as though he wasn’t about to be turned into a projectile.

"Yes. Full strength."

A strange look flickered across her face. It wasn’t hesitation, but something close to concern.

"You humans really are insane," she muttered under her breath. Still, she didn’t refuse. Instead, she inhaled deeply.

The temperature inside the warehouse dropped noticeably, and the faint crimson pressure surged violently. Cracks along the stone walls widened, and loose debris began to tremble as if responding to an unseen force.

This time, she didn’t hold back.

BANG!

When she struck, Gabriel felt it instantly.

The force smashed into his abdomen like a runaway siege weapon, far more violent than before. He didn’t feel pain at first. The intense pressure was a different kind of agony entirely.

His vision went white for a split second as his body was torn off the ground and hurled backward.

He flew straight through the air like a ragdoll.

FWOOOSH!

The distance between him and the wall vanished in an instant before his back slammed into the stone with a deafening explosion. Spiderweb cracks spread outward from the point of impact as chunks of stone blasted loose.

The entire warehouse shook violently, dust and rubble raining down from the ceiling.

His body slid down the wall slowly before dropping to the ground with a heavy thud.

"She really didn’t hold back," he said through gritted teeth as a wave of heat radiated from his lower abdomen.

But it wasn’t a waste. He had confirmed just how far his new talent could go.

Outside the warehouse.

Anna, who had been standing guard quietly the entire time, froze when the shockwave rippled through the area. Her instincts flared violently, and without a second thought, she rushed toward the entrance, hand already on her weapon.

"Master?!" she called out as she burst in.

She stopped short, completely shocked by the sight before her, her mouth hanging open.

The wall was shattered. Debris littered the floor, and dust filled the air so thick it stung her lungs.

And her master was kneeling on the ground.

She hurried over, kneeling beside him, her expression tense and filled with alarm.

"Are you alright?" she asked quickly, scanning him for wounds. "What happened? Who attacked you?"

He had clearly entered the room alone. That shouldn’t have been possible.

She looked around sharply, her hunter senses stretched to their limits.

She sensed nothing.

No presence.

No enemy.

No lingering aura.

The warehouse was empty, aside from the two of them.

Gabriel let out a slow breath and pushed himself up with one arm, brushing dust and stone fragments off his clothes as if he had merely stumbled.

"I’m fine," he said calmly. "I was testing out a new skill."

She didn’t look convinced. "Are you sure? Was it an assassin? Did the eastern camp send someone?"

"Stop being a worrywart," he chuckled as he stroked her head. "You can go back to your duty. The noise will attract others, and I need you to stop them from entering."

She hesitated, still scanning the surroundings. After a few seconds of persuasion, she finally nodded and stepped back outside, not before giving the hall one last careful look.

Sure enough, Sophie and Bunny were already there.

"What was that?" Sophie asked, clearly concerned.

"It was Master testing a new skill. He’s fine now," Anna replied.

"I want to check," Sophie said, trying to move past her.

"He told me not to allow anyone inside," Anna said, blocking her path.

Sophie frowned beneath her veil but respected the decision and returned to what she was doing.

Meanwhile, inside the warehouse.

Seraphina stood with her arms folded beneath her chest, her expression a mixture of surprise and intrigue as she looked at the cracks in the wall, then back at him.

"How are you not bleeding?" she asked.

That was when Gabriel realized it as well.

"Maybe it’s because my skin wasn’t pierced," he said uncertainly.

She stared at him in disbelief, still trying to comprehend how he was perfectly fine.

Then she looked down at her fingers as though they were foreign to her. "I’ve really become weak, haven’t I?"

As he tried to move, Gabriel placed a hand over his abdomen, focusing inward.

The pain finally arrived.

His organs felt compressed, shaken violently by the impact, but intact. No tearing. No rupture. No internal bleeding. The strange dense sensation from earlier was still there, holding everything together.

Indestructible Body.

It had worked.

Even against her full strength strike. If that kick had landed before, he would have been dead, or at the very least crippled.

Exhaling slowly, he straightened to his feet.

"Come on. We have more work to do," he called out as he began to leave the warehouse.

Seraphina remained where she was for a moment, staring at her arm in silence, before following after him reluctantly.
