Chapter 372: The Attack: Who is the Killer [5]

Chapter 372: The Attack: Who is the Killer [5]

The junior Lin sisters, Lin Xueyi’s eyes lit up when that name was mentioned.

"I have heard that name before... I think she is one of the most prominent otherworlders in this region."

Lin Xueyi was known for her interest in otherworlders among everyone present here. She had the highest number of otherworlders in her squad.

Of course, because of their respawn ability, she mostly used them as shields for her main force. Naturally, because she spent a lot of time with them, she had often heard them mention that name, along with her connection to the Holy Church.

Henry’s anger vanished without a trace. Even Dominic sat up straight, clearly interested.

"Hurry, bring her inside." He waved his hand quickly, forgetting entirely about whatever punishment he had planned for the guard. The guard also knew that the information was extremely important, which was why he had risked his life to interrupt their meeting in the first place.

A few seconds later, the guard returned again. This time, he came with a familiar face, one whom Gabriel or most players would instantly recognize, as she was currently one of the strongest players at this stage of the game.

It was none other than IceQueen.

She was wearing expensive magic armor, refined and elegant, making several officials with cheaper and less impressive equipment glance at her with unconcealed envy.

IceQueen held her chin high, appearing confident and prideful. Her stance did not falter even slightly despite sensing the powerful existences present in the room. She clearly noticed the envious looks from some of the officials but disregarded them completely.

Henry observed the otherworlder closely, his gaze trailing across her beautiful and curvy body. Sensing his eyes lingering on her, IceQueen felt irritated, but she masked it beneath a calm expression.

There was a reason she had come here in the first place. For her goal, she was willing to endure this much.

"So... I heard you have information regarding what happened to Dante and the others," Henry said at last, his tone calm but carrying undeniable pressure.

IceQueen’s lips curved slightly. It was not a smile. It was closer to satisfaction.

"I do," she replied. "And I do not need to guess."

The moment those words left her mouth, the atmosphere in the room changed.

Dominic’s eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly. The Lin sisters straightened, and even Henry leaned forward slightly, resting one arm on the table.

"Then speak," Henry said.

IceQueen did not rush. She took a slow step forward, her boots clicking softly against the stone floor, then stopped at a respectful distance. Her gaze swept across everyone present before briefly settling on Dominic, then returning to Henry.

"Kairos is dead," she said plainly.

A ripple spread through the room.

Some faces stiffened, while others darkened.

Among those whose expressions darkened was Henry himself. Hearing of his brother’s death being announced so casually left him stunned and speechless for a brief moment.

In the same tone, she continued. "And Bai Young... dead as well."

Henry’s fingers tightened unconsciously, his rage barely contained. The aides behind him clearly sensed it and instinctively took a step back.

Henry was not only known for being harsh and tyrannical, he was also infamous for his violence when consumed by anger or grief. More often than not, those closest to him at such moments were the ones who suffered the most.

Silence followed, thick and suffocating. Dominic’s earlier words had only been a theory, and none of them had fully believed it. Now, that theory was turning into reality.

"Dante?" Dominic asked calmly, though the air around him subtly shifted.

Everyone looked at IceQueen. Even Henry paused, despite the mixture of anger and sorrow churning in his chest.

IceQueen hesitated briefly, deliberately, then nodded. "Killed."

The room fell completely silent, everyone drawing in a sharp breath. Their thoughts ran wild as they imagined just how powerful their enemy must be.

There was no change in IceQueen’s expression as she allowed the words to sink in.

"Wait, then could it be Garrett and the assassin as well... the same person again?" someone muttered.

If he could kill two Hero Rank existences, then dealing with those three would not be difficult either.

"Most likely," IceQueen said, tilting her head slightly. "Since Garrett and the two assassins never made it back either. I am very confident they were killed by him as well."

Henry exhaled sharply, then laughed once, low and humorless.

"You expect us to believe all of this was done by one person?"

IceQueen met his gaze without flinching.

"You already do."

That single sentence struck harder than any accusation.

Henry did not respond immediately. His eyes flickered briefly toward Dominic, then to the Lin sisters. No one spoke.

Because she was right. The pattern was too clean, and the timing too perfect.

IceQueen, clearly enjoying their reaction, looked at Henry, then at Dominic, her gaze lingering for half a second longer than necessary, as if weighing whether she should reveal the killer’s identity now.

This information had come from her player network. At first, she had not thought it would be useful. Later, she discovered that all the people who had died belonged to a powerful faction known as the Eastern Camp.

She had moved immediately after that realization. It was almost as if the universe itself was helping her. Who would have thought that Sir Broken would dig his own grave by targeting such a powerful faction?

The silence stretched. In that brief pause, Henry’s mind was already racing.

Kairos... dead.

Dante and Bai Young were among his most trusted men. They were also part of the group keeping Dominic from fully taking control of the camp.

His gaze drifted to Dominic without him realizing it. The man sat calmly, too calmly. But Henry could tell. Dominic was either excited, or suppressing his grief at the loss of their men.

That realization irritated him more than the news itself.

’Of course you would be,’ Henry thought bitterly. ’You have always wanted something like this.’

Henry finally spoke again, his voice lower now, stripped of its earlier arrogance.

"You seem very confident. Confident enough to walk into this room alone."

IceQueen smiled faintly, a smile that did not reach her eyes, as she replied,

"Confidence comes from certainty. If I did not know this person, I would not risk my life coming here."

Lin Xueyi frowned slightly. "Then you are saying... you know exactly who did this."

"Yes."

Lin Xuemei’s eyes narrowed as well. "And you are certain it is one person."

"I am."

"Who," Henry finally asked, his voice cold now, "who is this person?"
