Chapter 373: The Attack: Counter-attack?[6]
At Henry’s word, IceQueen smirked and waved her hand. A picture appeared in her grasp, which she slammed onto the table.
"His name is Gabriel Reyes, but he’s fondly referred to as Sir Broken," she revealed.
The picture plastered on the table was none other than Gabriel wielding his Crimson Judgement greatsword. His red hair, electric blue eyes, and tall six foot two frame were clearly visible for all to see.
Most of those present felt as though they had heard the name somewhere before, yet none could recall exactly where or when.
Right at that moment, the junior Lin sister, the same one who commanded dozens of players in her squad, spoke up.
"I remember that name," she said. "He participated in the Inter Guild Display Event a few months back, becoming the MVP of the entire event. Multiple boss kills that otherworldlers couldn’t stop talking about. He’s a rising figure that even the major guilds have begun watching carefully."
Henry’s brows furrowed. He recalled it as well. After all, they had discussed recruiting him to the northern camp just a few weeks prior.
Dominic leaned back slowly, a strange light flickering in his eyes as he stared at Gabriel’s picture with quiet intensity.
"So it was him," he muttered.
"That explains a lot," Lin Xuemei said softly.
Lin Xueyi nodded, her expression conflicted. "It doesn’t make sense. Even if he’s very promising, fighting Dante should have left him severely injured. That would have been believable. But killing him?"
"What kind of class does this person have?" someone asked.
A slight frown appeared on IceQueen’s face. "That’s what I’m not entirely sure about. He’s a hybrid. He uses magic skills and warrior skills, fights like a skilled swordsman, tanks damage effortlessly, and possesses overwhelming strength that doesn’t make sense for his current level."
The more they listened, the more they understood why Dante and Bai Young had fallen.
Dominic grew more fascinated with every passing moment. His entire body itched to see this person for himself.
A small part of him still refused to believe everything the otherworldlers were saying. He needed confirmation with his own eyes.
Meanwhile, Henry’s jaw tightened, his eyes burning with rage. He lifted his gaze slowly and stared directly at IceQueen. He still did not want to believe that the rising star they had once discussed recruiting was the same person who had killed his son, Kairos.
"Why tell us this?" he asked in a relatively calm tone.
IceQueen didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she lifted her chin slightly, her pride no longer hidden.
"Because Gabriel is my enemy," she said. "And I want him dead."
The room fell silent.
Dominic studied her carefully. "You could have kept this to yourself."
"Yes," IceQueen agreed. "But I don’t have the strength or capability to kill him on my own."
She paused briefly. "I would really appreciate it if you could kill him, or preferably weaken him enough and hand him over to me."
Several people sucked in cold breaths.
"You’re asking us," the junior Lin sister said slowly, "to deliver a man capable of killing Hero Ranks... to you?"
IceQueen’s gaze hardened, her words filled with conviction. "Alive or dead. I don’t care which."
"And what do you want in return?" Henry asked.
"Nothing," she replied immediately.
That answer unsettled them more than greed ever could.
"I don’t want territory. I don’t want resources. I don’t want alliance privileges. All I want... is Broken Heaven."
Dominic’s lips curled into a faint smile. "How confident. To think you’d be brave enough to walk in here and say that."
IceQueen’s smile faltered ever so slightly when she looked into Dante’s red eyes.
Still holding her gaze, Dante leaned back, his fingers tapping slowly against the armrest.
"So you bring us the name of our enemy," he said, "and expect us to trust your intentions."
"You don’t have to trust me," IceQueen replied. "You just have to hate him enough."
Henry, whose eyes had been closed for some time, opened them again.
"Very well," he said. "If Gabriel truly killed Kairos, Bai Young, Dante, and Garrett, then he has already declared war on the eastern camp."
A dangerous smile spread across his face.
"And no one who does that gets to walk away freely."
IceQueen’s lips curled slightly. "Then we are in agreement. I’ll lead you to his camp. Neither my guild nor I will participate in the fight. We will only observe from the side."
"That’s fine by me," Henry nodded.
...
According to IceQueen, the location was none other than their former camp, the one Bai Young and Kairos had been in charge of.
She explained in detail how it had been attacked and taken over. Of course, all this information came from her subordinates and her influence as the daughter of the supposed developer of the game.
When they heard that he had taken over the camp, things began to make sense. The close proximity between Kairos’s base and the northern camp allowed him to easily attack the northern trade route and retreat back to his base.
The sheer audacity of this person shocked all the top leaders of the eastern camp. After taking over the camp, he dared to come after them as well.
It was as if he had planned it from the very beginning. In fact, a few of them even wondered if they had offended this so called lord wannabe and he was now returning for revenge.
In the end, they reached an agreement. Some agreed to attack the base, while others remained unsure. Many were afraid of being defeated as well. After all, they still didn’t have a clear grasp of the enemy’s strength. All they knew was that he was strong enough to defeat two Hero Ranks in a short amount of time.
The core members, Henry, Dominic, and the Lin sisters, who were the strongest present, believed in the strength of the eastern camp. They believed he must have had external help, and with their combined force, they were more than confident of crushing the bandits who dared drag the wilderness into chaos.
Orders were issued immediately, and the eastern camp prepared to march toward Gabriel’s camp, completely unaware that the very enemy they sought was already within their territory, preparing to strike.
