Chapter 386: Switching to Plan B[Fixed]
A few minutes earlier.
IceQueen’s back and forth pacing suddenly came to a stop when she caught sight of something in the ChaosKnight group chat.
[ChaosCleric: our scouts reported strange movements. They said they spotted several vehicles leaving the Broken Dawn camp and heading towards the east.]
IceQueen did not think too much about it at first. She assumed it was probably a hunting party. After all, it was quite common for camps out in the wilderness to venture deeper to hunt, especially since monsters were becoming scarce around their vicinity.
But then another report popped up in the group chat.
[ChaosKnightSidekick: I have been keeping an eye on the camp for some time. It seems Broken Heaven left with them as well, and they have been gone for hours now.]
When she read that last part, IceQueen’s face twisted into a deep frown as she cursed under her breath.
"I knew that slippery bastard was up to no good. I have to report to the others."
Without a moment’s hesitation, she left her temporary mansion and headed straight for the largest and most luxurious mansion in the camp, the one that belonged to Henry.
"Please state your reason for being here..." the guard at the entrance tried to stop her, but she shoved him aside roughly and rushed inside.
She moved straight toward the massive living room. When she pushed the double doors open, there he was.
Henry was lounging lazily in his chair while receiving a massage from a beautiful woman. His eyes were closed in clear ecstasy as he enjoyed himself. Even after the doors were forcefully pushed open, the leader of the eastern camp did not react.
It was only when the woman stopped that one of his eyes twitched open, his face twisting with annoyance.
IceQueen masked the disgust in her eyes as she spoke. "You need to mobilise your forces now."
Henry’s irritation shifted into confusion. One eye opened fully as he waved the woman away without even looking at her. She bowed quickly and retreated, leaving the massive living room silent except for the faint crackle of the fireplace.
"Mobilise my forces?" Henry repeated slowly, his tone lazy. "Why would I mobilise my forces when we are still making sufficient preparations? I do not intend to suffer any setbacks."
IceQueen clenched her fists, anger flashing across her face.
"You do not understand," she snapped. "Gabriel Reyes has made a move. Several vehicles left the Broken Dawn camp hours ago. I do not know where he went exactly, but judging by the direction, I believe he is coming for your camp."
"Hahahaha."
Henry burst into laughter as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world.
"Those bandits would never dare attack us," he said mockingly. "Unless they are suicidal."
"You have to believe me," IceQueen insisted. "No one knows that bastard better than I do. He is extremely slippery. I am certain he already foresaw an attack and decided to move earlier."
Henry leaned forward, resting his chin on his palm.
"You barged into my residence, interrupted my relaxation, and demanded I mobilise an entire camp," he said slowly, "all because some scouts saw a few trucks?"
IceQueen frowned deeply. "This is not random movement. He never acts randomly. If he has been gone for hours, my instincts tell me he is already preparing to launch an attack."
"You really trust your instincts that much?" Henry asked calmly.
IceQueen nodded. "Enough to stake my reputation on it."
Henry’s laughter faded completely. His eyes slowly roamed over her body, deliberately and without shame.
IceQueen felt a wave of disgust crawl up her spine, but she did not move.
"Alright then," he said casually. "Let us say I trust you. But if this turns out to be false... what should I do to you?"
IceQueen stiffened.
Henry stood up, his gaze lingering far longer than necessary. "I have never tasted an otherworlder before."
The silence stretched.
IceQueen’s jaw tightened. Every instinct screamed at her to lash out, but she swallowed it down. This was not about pride. This was about Broken Heaven.
This might be the only chance she would ever get to finally get rid of him.
If sacrificing her avatar to satisfy the urges of this disgusting pervert was the price, then she would pay it.
She exhaled slowly and spoke coldly, her eyes burning with determination.
"If I am wrong, you can do whatever you want."
Henry clapped his hands excitedly. "That is exactly what I wanted to hear."
He licked his lips in a creepy manner that unsettled IceQueen even further.
"I hope you keep to your words, otherworlder."
In the present.
"I suppose you were not wrong," Henry said, his eyes flashing sharply as he looked down from the balcony of his mansion.
IceQueen stood beside him.
Her expression was grim.
Her fingers tightened slowly at her side as she stared down at the figures standing calmly in the first class area, surrounded by both luxury and death. The sight burned itself into her eyes.
So it was true.
Not only had Gabriel come, he had already breached the first class zone.
"That bastard..." she muttered under her breath, a mixture of hatred and cold satisfaction swirling in her chest. "He really came."
Henry stood beside her, one hand resting on the balcony railing, the other loosely holding a glass of wine. The laziness from earlier was gone, replaced by something sharp and intrigued.
He could hardly believe it.
Someone had dared to infiltrate his camp. Not just anyone, but a small bandit force with less than ten thousand people in total.
The most shocking part was not that they had arrived, but how far they had gone.
They had passed through the walls, the third class area, the second class area, and breached the first class zone itself.
Were it not for the otherworlder girl’s warning, this could have turned into a complete disaster.
"This Gabriel..." Henry murmured, his eyes flashing coldly. "I underestimated him greatly."
He clenched his glass slightly.
"I do not know whether this was bravery or foolishness, but I will make sure he does not leave here alive."
Below them, the war tanks completed their turn. Heavy cannons locked into place with mechanical clicks that echoed faintly across the area. The sound alone carried suffocating pressure.
Despite that, Gabriel remained calm. Not a trace of fear or discomfort could be seen on his face.
"So they noticed after all," Sophie said as she exhaled slowly.
Scarlet, calm and composed as always, asked, "Does that mean we are switching to plan B?"
"That is the only option," Gabriel replied as he stepped forward. "I will buy us time. The rest of you retreat and regroup with the others."
