Chapter 397: Grizzlenaught’s Dominance
Chapter 397: Grizzlenaught’s Dominance
Gabriel gaze lingered on the powerful members of the eastern camp who were observing quietly. By powerful, he was referring to the hero ranks of the eastern camp.
The reason they were watching was likely because they wanted the weaker soldiers to exhaust the enemy force before stepping in to finish the job. It was a common battle strategy, one that required a certain level of sacrifice.
Now, one might wonder, since the hero ranks were so powerful, why they did not simply head straight to the battlefield and wipe out Broken Dawn. The reason was simple. They did not have a complete grasp of the enemy strength.
A hero rank had already been killed, and another had been fatally injured, so badly that there was no chance of him participating in this fight. To be frank, none of them wanted to risk ending up the same way.
"Wouldn’t it be nice if you brought the fight to them?" Serpahina asked, staring in their direction. "I remember you told me about the requirement to complete your class advancement. This looks like the perfect opportunity."
"It is," Gabriel nodded, yet he still did not make a move. "But for now, let’s just watch. I have something in store for them, and it will take some time to set up."
"What’s that?" Serpahina frowned with a curious expression. With the mischievous smile tugging at her lips, she could tell he was up to no good, and with every moment he delayed his answer, the suspense only grew thicker.
"It’s a secret." He smiled mischievously as he stepped forward, leaving Serpahina to stare at his back.
"Such a jerk. What kind of partner hides his plan?" she called out loudly from behind.
Gabriel ignored her completely. The indifference made her face redden slightly in irritation, like a child on the verge of throwing a tantrum.
Despite being a vampire queen who had lived for countless years, deep in her heart she was still a little childish.
When Gabriel got closer to the battlefield, he whispered softly in a barely audible voice.
"Grizzlenaught, come forth."
At his words, the red furred, cold blue eyed Grizzlenaught appeared. It was twice the size of an average human, instantly drawing the attention of not only the enemies, but also several members of Broken Dawn who were seeing it for the first time.
Gabriel realized that he had not actively summoned his companion to farm experience or level up in a long while. He figured that a battlefield like this was the perfect place for his summon to grow stronger.
"Wait, is that thing on our side?"
An anxious voice rang out from some of the newer Broken Dawn members, startled by the sudden appearance of the beast whose penetrating eyes stood out sharply in the darkness.
"Will it attack us?"
"Yes, it’s on our side. That’s Sir Broken summon, Grizzlenaught. It won’t hurt anyone as long as you don’t attack it," Bunny explained as she sent a water ball smashing into an approaching enemy.
Bunny’s words seemed to reassure the Broken Dawn members, and they fought with renewed confidence, realizing they had yet another powerful ally to rely on.
As for the enemy, panic spread rapidly. Even those at the rear of the battlefield stared at the slightly translucent build of Grizzlenaught with a mixture of confusion and fear.
"That doesn’t look like any summon I’ve seen before," Lin Xueyi spoke, her voice tinged with caution.
Lin Xiyumi said nothing, only observing the monster with equally curious eyes.
The two sisters stood atop the roof of an incomplete building, watching the battle from a distance. Yet due to their enhanced eyesight as hero ranks, it felt as though they were right there on the battlefield.
"It’s another one of his tricks," Lin Xiyumi smirked. "This young man, the more I watch him, the more special he seems."
The two of them had been present from the very beginning, and never in their lives did they expect that a young man who was not even twenty one could deliver a speech that not only rallied his subordinates, but held the battlefield together like this.
"Initially, the plan was to simply stay back and watch, but it appears we will have to join the fight sooner than I thought," Lin Xiyumi said, her eyes narrowing.
"By join, you mean fighting on Broken Dawn side?" the other sister asked.
"Yes," Lin Xiyumi replied calmly. "Though it is a bit early."
"Let’s wait for the others to move first. For now, everything seems under control, and both sides are holding out."
Meanwhile, below, amidst the ongoing battle, Gabriel mentally gave Grizzlenaught its command.
"Kill the enemies. Do not touch any member of my guild."
One of Grizzlenaught innate traits was its ability to sense intent. In fact, this was something most magical beasts in this world possessed. With that ability, it fully understood Gabriel’s command and knew exactly who to attack and who to avoid.
Grizzlenaught let out a low, rumbling growl.
The sound was not loud, yet it rolled across the battlefield like a warning bell. The red spectral fur around its massive body rippled as if stirred by an unseen wind, and its cold blue eyes locked onto the nearest cluster of enemies.
Then it moved.
It did not charge wildly. It took one heavy step forward, claws sinking into the earth, and then vanished.
To the enemies, it was as if the air itself had torn open.
Grizzlenaught reappeared in the middle of their formation, its massive claw already swinging. A spectral arc tore through the air, cutting down three soldiers at once. Armor shattered like paper. Blood sprayed as bodies were thrown aside, as if struck by a speeding truck.
"S summon! It’s attacking!"
"Fall back! Fall back!"
Panic spread instantly. Grizzlenaught did not slow down. Its physical claws ripped through flesh while its spectral claws phased through shields and armor alike, carving directly into bodies. One swipe crushed a man’s chest inward. Another tore a soldier off his feet and slammed him into the ground with enough force to crack the earth.
Broken Dawn members froze for a brief moment before cheers erupted.
"It’s tearing them apart!"
"So strong!"
Grizzlenaught razor sharp claws tore through the enemy ranks like butter. Each swing decapitated two or three soldiers at once, all while carefully avoiding members of Broken Dawn. It was a terrifying sight, but after seeing the monster ignore them repeatedly, the fear among Broken Dawn faded, and they fought with even greater confidence.
Grizzlenaught moved like a butcher in a crowded slaughterhouse. Wherever it went, screams followed. Enemies attempted to surround it, stabbing with spears and launching abilities, but most attacks passed straight through its semi translucent body. The few that landed did damage, but not enough.
A hero rank observer frowned in the distance. "It’s not a normal summon. Its body is not fully physical."
Below, Grizzlenaught grabbed a soldier by the head and smashed him into another, crushing both instantly. It then leapt forward, claws glowing brighter, carving a bloody path straight through the enemy line.
"Argh!"
"Damn monster!"
The eastern camp formation finally broke. Some fled from the path of the rampaging beast, while others dropped their weapons entirely. Officers screamed orders that no one obeyed.
Even the rear line began to retreat.
"Hold your ground!" one officer roared, only for Grizzlenaught spectral claw to slice through his throat mid sentence.
Pishhh!
Blood poured as the body collapsed.
Gabriel watched calmly, his eyes sharp. The constant sound of notifications rang through his mind each time Grizzlenaught killed an enemy. It was the shared experience feature at work.
Although he could not level up yet, none of the experience points were wasted. Instead, they were stored and would take effect the moment he completed his class advancement.
At that moment, Grizzlenaught suddenly reared back as multiple powerful attacks struck it at once. Fire, lightning, and compressed force slammed into its body. The red fur flickered violently before the next blast tore it apart.
Its body shattered into countless red particles, dispersing into the air.
For a brief moment, the battlefield went silent.
Broken Dawn members froze.
Looking ahead, Gabriel saw that one of the hero ranks had finally made a move. It was a mage, a man with small statue, holding a magical staff in the other.
A triumphant expression spread across his face, pleased that he had dealt with one of the eastern camp greatest threats.
"It was big for nothing," the mage sneered. "Its defense is severely lacking. Hit it with enough power, and it disappears."
With Grizzlenaught gone, those from the eastern camp visibly relaxed, while Broken Dawn members cursed the hero rank in their hearts for killing the massive beast.
However, amidst all this, Gabriel remained calm. There was no anger or frustration on his face. He quietly sacrificed one hundred mana points, and before the shocked eyes of both Broken Dawn and the enemy forces, Grizzlenaught began to rise from the ground once more.
