Chapter 403: Facing the Main Force: The Lin Sister’s Betrayal [4]

"Sister, it’s time." Lin Xueyi looked at her sister. All the hero ranks were already on the move, and it was only right that they followed as well. If they did not, they would draw unnecessary attention.

Even though they were extremely valuable and important to the camp, they were still required to participate during battle, especially one as threatening as this.

However, Lin Xueyi was not calling her sister to join the other hero ranks in the fight. Instead, it was the other way around.

Lin Xiyumi nodded. The two sisters did not exchange a single word as they walked to the edge of the building they were currently on. Without hesitation, they jumped off the roof.

The building was over five stories high, a height not many would dare jump from even if they were Awakened, as it would normally leave them fatally injured upon landing.

Yet the sisters’ expressions remained calm and cold as they streaked downward, a powerful gust of wind forming beneath them and causing their hair and attire to whip violently in the air.

Those fighting below suddenly saw two massive shadows descending from above at frightening speed. Their eyes immediately went wide.

"Get out of the way!" Samantha, the necromancer player, shouted at the top of her lungs. Her voice cracked as she pointed upward, panic flashing across her face. The shadows had appeared directly above an area packed with Broken Dawn fighters, and there was no time to think, only to react.

If the two falling figures crashed down as they were, everything beneath them would be reduced to blood and broken bones.

Immediately, everyone scattered.

Soldiers dove to the sides, some rolling across the ground while others stumbled as they desperately tried to escape the impact zone. A few unlucky ones were too slow, frozen in place by the overwhelming pressure pressing down on their bodies like an invisible hand.

However, just before impact, something shocking happened that left both Broken Dawn and the eastern camp stunned.

Whooosh!

A sharp, ear piercing sound echoed across the battlefield as the wind gathered beneath the two sisters, drastically reducing the force of their fall. They landed softly on the ground without generating even the slightest sound.

For half a second, no one moved. Then voices began to break out from the ranks of the eastern camp.

"I know them, those are the Lin sisters. They’re two of our hero ranks!"

"Two hero ranks!"

"We’ve won this!"

Cheers erupted almost instantly. Eastern camp soldiers laughed loudly, some even raising their weapons into the air in excitement. After suffering under Broken Dawn’s pressure for so long, the arrival of two fresh hero ranks felt like divine reinforcement.

Even some of the commanders let out long breaths of relief. Reinforcements at this level were rare, and two at once meant the battlefield was about to tilt heavily in their favor.

On the other side, Broken Dawn descended into panic.

"Hero ranks landed!"

"Pull back, pull back now!"

"They’ve sent more monsters!"

Fear spread like wildfire through their lines. Some fighters began retreating instinctively, while others hesitated, torn between orders and survival. The calm confidence they had earlier vanished almost instantly.

Samantha clenched her staff tightly, her heart pounding as she glanced around. All the other top members, Alice, Anna, Cassie, Sophie, Scarlett, Lily, Bunny, Sniperbowlegend, and Ragnarok99 were occupied elsewhere. That meant it was only her facing not one, but two hero ranks.

’This is bad,’ the necromancer thought grimly. But then, she noticed something felt wrong.

Lin Xueyi and Lin Xiyumi did not move toward Broken Dawn. They did not even glance in that direction. Instead, their cold gazes slowly shifted toward the eastern camp.

The eastern camp soldiers noticed it as well. The cheering slowly faded, replaced by confusion and unease.

"Why aren’t they attacking?" someone muttered.

"They’re acting strange."

Before anyone could question it further, Lin Xueyi took a step forward. The air around her changed instantly, and those closest to her felt their breathing become difficult.

A frontline eastern camp soldier frowned and raised his weapon. "Hey... wrong way."

Lin Xueyi’s lips curved slightly as she vanished from where she stood and reappeared deep inside the eastern camp formation. A clean palm strike followed, fast and violent.

Bang!

The moment the palm strike connected, blood sprayed into the air as a captain level fighter collapsed without even understanding what had happened.

This time, both Broken Dawn and the eastern camp were stunned into complete silence.

For several breaths, the battlefield became unnaturally quiet. No one shouted or moved. It was as if everyone needed time to process what their eyes had just witnessed.

"She attacked us! Did she just attack one of our own?"

"Enemy, enemy!"

"Are they traitors?!"

"No, that’s impossible!"

"She attacked one of their own?" Samantha whispered in disbelief. Her words triggered a chain reaction throughout the Broken Dawn ranks.

"They’re attacking the eastern camp?"

"What’s going on?"

Some fighters stopped retreating altogether, watching the scene unfold with stunned expressions. Even they could not understand what they were seeing.

Suddenly, a thought resurfaced in Samantha’s mind. She recalled a rumor that had circulated among the core members of the guild, one that claimed not everyone within the eastern camp supported the rule of the current lords.

Her eyes flashed sharply.

"I know what’s going on now," she said loudly enough for those nearby to hear. "Guys, I think... I think the two hero ranks are on our side!"

The idea sounded insane. Two hero ranks turning on their own camp in the middle of a decisive battle was something no one would normally believe. Yet the bodies on the ground told a different story.

"Are they truly on our side?"

"That can’t be..."

Lin Xueyi slowly withdrew her palm, blood dripping from her fingers. She did not even glance at the fallen eastern camp fighter. To her, it was no different from stepping on an insect. Her gaze calmly swept across the eastern camp, whose formation had completely collapsed.

"The otherworlder was right," she said coldly. "We can no longer stand the corruption of this faction. From this moment on, we cut all ties with the eastern and northern camps."
