Chapter 406 406: Destroying the War Tanks

Chapter 406 406: Destroying the War Tanks

Seraphina's voice cut through the chaos of the battlefield and reached Gabriel, who was about to cut down an enemy player. When he sent that one into the circle of respawn, he quickly glanced at Seraphina at his side.

"What is it?" he asked, but there was no answer. Seraphina seemed to be in a trance like state, staring at the central entrance of the eastern camp.

Gabriel quickly followed her gaze, and what he saw made him suck in a cold breath.

"I guess they finally overcame their fear," he muttered with narrowed eyes. If one were to look into his blue eyes, they would see the reflection of convoys of war tanks slowly coming out from the central and largest gate. They were advancing from behind, which meant that Broken Dawn would be surrounded from both sides.

The main reason Gabriel had made that earlier statement was because he had expected this much earlier, yet he had decided to take a gamble.

Because of the destruction caused by Seraphina's blood rope, the enemies had assumed that there would be a similar trap at all the other entrances, especially the most obvious one, the central entrance.

However, little did they know they had been fooled into thinking this. With her current strength, Seraphina could only create and maintain one blood rope powerful enough to take a hero rank life at a time.

Anything more, and mana exhaustion would not be the only thing she would have to worry about.

The heavy war tanks caused the ground to tremble, and some of the stronger Awakened from both the eastern and northern camps began to notice their presence.

The eastern camp side, seeing the approaching convoy, wore looks of triumph on their faces, while the hearts of their enemies sank.

Alice frowned as she stared at the vehicles slowly approaching, their cannons already fixated on the battlefield.

"They wouldn't fire, right?" Alice voiced out in an uncertain tone. "I mean, there are still a lot of eastern camp members there."

The battlefield was divided into two areas. One was where the main force of Broken Dawn clashed with the first wave of eastern forces. The second was the area closest to the eastern wall entrance, where Scarlet and Gabriel were currently positioned.

The battle tanks were heading toward the first battlefield.

"With how heartless that cultivator described the lord of this camp, I wouldn't be shocked if he unleashed fire even with his own men present."

Alice's tone was filled with disgust and disdain, having witnessed the eastern camp's lustful nature firsthand during the time she and SniperBowLegend had tried to enter the camp.

Scarlet quickly kicked an enemy aside and shouted mid swing, her sword slashing again and severing another head from its body. "What do we do? If those tanks fire, a majority of our forces will be wiped away."

"I know," Gabriel replied, racking his head for a solution. At this moment, he did not possess any skill or treasure capable of protecting hundreds of people from advanced war tanks, which were far more powerful than those on Earth due to being powered by beast or monster cores.

The only treasure he had was the Guard Robe, but it was only gold rank. Not only was the area it could cover restricted to himself, it also could not withstand the combined assault of multiple battle tanks.

From the looks of it, no one else in Broken Dawn possessed a treasure capable of stopping the tanks. Sophie had the silver barrier, but the area it could cover was just as limited.

After a moment of thought, a light bulb flickered in Gabriel's mind as he suddenly thought of something. He shifted his gaze to his greatsword, which had drunk the blood of hundreds of enemies in a short period of time.

"I have a plan," Gabriel said as he turned to Scarlet, then did something shocking. He raised his fingers, aiming them like a gun, and pointed them at her. "But it will come at a cost."

There was not much reaction, despite seeing Gabriel's actions and the dark trail of mana gathering. "What cost?"

Gabriel did not respond immediately. Instead, he whispered under his breath.

"Dark flame orb."

A condensed, overcharged dark flame orb shot out from his fingertips. The orb screamed through the air. From the perspective of onlookers, it appeared as if he was attempting to kill Scarlet, but that could not have been further from the truth.

The dark flame orb tore through the air in a straight line, its speed absurdly fast. Before anyone could react, it pierced straight through the head of a shadow that had been creeping up behind Scarlet.

The sneaking enemy did not even get the chance to gasp. His head exploded in a burst of black fire and fragments, his body collapsing lifelessly before it hit the ground.

Scarlet's eyes flashed as she felt heat brush past her cheek. She spun instantly, sword raised, only to see the corpse falling at her feet.

Another dark flame orb fired, followed by a few more.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gabriel's fingers moved calmly, snapping forward each time like he was pulling a trigger. Every shot was clean, every one landing directly on a head.

By the time Gabriel lowered his hand, more than half a dozen bodies were already on the ground, smoke rising from where their heads used to be. Nearby enemies froze, fear creeping into their movements as they realized they were being hunted.

Scarlet stared at him for a second before speaking.

"Thanks."

Gabriel nodded and finally turned his attention back to the approaching war tanks, their massive frames rolling forward without slowing.

"The cost," Scarlet said, following his gaze. "You said there would be a cost."

"I planned to take the tanks," he said evenly. "They would have been very useful, but now that's not possible anymore."

"To stop them," Gabriel continued, his voice cold, "they have to be destroyed completely."

She looked at him sideways. "How exactly are you planning to do that?"

Gabriel did not answer right away.

Instead, he looked down at the greatsword in his hand and lifted it slightly.

"This."
