Chapter 417: The Monster Within the Eastern Camp
Chapter 417: The Monster Within the Eastern Camp
Sophie, Scarlet, Alice, and the two Lin sisters quickly moved toward Gabriel. They jogged quietly across the battlefield while taking down enemies who proved too difficult for the Broken Dawn army.
The tempo of the fight had slowed. The earlier chaos was now gone, especially for the eastern camp fighters whose morale had sunk to its lowest point after witnessing four hero ranks fall in under an hour.
The small enemy force of just one thousand that they had badly underestimated proved to be wolves in sheep’s clothing, and they were paying the price for it. Some dropped their weapons and begged to change sides, while others continued to fight fiercely, still clinging to the hope that the battle might somehow turn in their favor.
And where was this hope coming from? It came from the fact that two of the strongest individuals in the eastern camp had yet to join the fight, and that the eastern camp forces still outnumbered Broken Dawn despite the heavy losses they had already suffered.
"Damn it, I have already lost several levels. If this keeps going, I am definitely getting sent back to the beginner village," a player cried out after being smashed cleanly in two by the hot headed Ragnarok99, who was cleaving through the ranks of NPCs and players alike.
The warrior had become one of the biggest threats on the battlefield. With a savage grin that revealed white pearly teeth, the massive man tore through his enemies. Blood smeared across his face, one eye completely covered as he continued forward without slowing down.
Alone in the center of the battlefield, Ragnarok99 had already killed hundreds, and it did not seem like he would be exhausted anytime soon. The fire in his eyes burned just as fiercely as it had at the beginning of the battle, and his booming laughter rang far and wide.
Because of this, five elite fighters from the eastern camp surrounded him, attacking from both sides.
"Hahahaha, how weak. You all have to gang up against me?" Ragnarok99 spat in clear disgust, even spitting on one of the corpses at his feet.
The others, however, knew better than to fall for his provocation. They had already lost hundreds of their comrades to him. Pride and fairness be damned. As long as they could spawn kill him, it would be worth it.
As they slowly closed in, Ragnarok99 turned his head toward a distant tree where Sniperbowlegend was positioned. As mentioned before, the archer had initially tried to fight on the battlefield like the other foot soldiers, but the overcrowded conditions made it difficult for him to aim properly. In the end, he had retreated to higher ground.
"These ones are mine. Do not interfere," Ragnarok99 shouted loudly. His voice somehow carried all the way to Sniperbowlegend, who had already turned his attention toward him after noticing the enemies circling.
Hearing that he could handle them, the archer quickly shifted his focus elsewhere.
Once the archer’s gaze was no longer on him, Ragnarok99 stretched out one hand and beckoned toward the enemies surrounding him. "All of you, come at me," he said, a wide and confident smirk forming on his face.
And without another word, all of them charged at once.
Meanwhile below, the five women remained alert as they advanced, but no one dared to stop them. Any enemy still standing instinctively gave them a wide berth.
As they regrouped around Gabriel, a wave of relief spread through the nearby Broken Dawn fighters. Those holding the outer edges of the battlefield saw their strongest members gather together and pushed forward even harder.
At that moment, another top fighter, though not a hero rank, fell, and the eastern camp’s morale finally shattered.
What little fight remained in Henry’s regular troops faded by the second. Broken Dawn had seized full control of the battlefield and now pressed forward without hesitation.
Gabriel quickly assessed his team as they formed up. His armor had a few fresh scorch marks and scratches, but he was otherwise fine. Scarlet and Sophie were bruised and covered in dust, yet remained steady. Alice and the Lin sisters had only minor injuries.
All of them were still capable of fighting.
Gabriel gave a short nod and spoke in a tone filled with pride. "Good job. You all did great. However, we are far from done."
The words were simple, but they carried weight. Everyone understood what he meant. They had survived the hardest battles of the day. Now there was only one thing left to do.
Deal with Henry and Dominic.
"What is the next step?" Lin Xueyi, the more outspoken of the Lin sisters, asked.
Gabriel did not reply immediately, his gaze sweeping across the battlefield. Although it appeared that Broken Dawn was winning, in reality a fair number of his troops had fallen as well.
But that was expected. It was impossible to wage war without losses. No general had absolute control over such outcomes. What mattered was limiting casualties as much as possible.
And so far, Gabriel believed he had done well in that regard. First, he had shattered the enemy’s morale using borrowed power from Seraphina. Then he had forced their hero ranks into two versus one situations. With the enemy’s battle tanks destroyed and Broken Dawn’s superior combat ability born from proper vetting, unlike the eastern camp which relied purely on numbers, the outcome of this war had been inevitable.
His tactics were not righteous, but that was the nature of war. Morals had no place on the battlefield. He had morals, yes, but once the fighting began, those ideals were thrown aside. He needed to be decisive.
’Morals... the same thing that held me back in my past life,’ he thought, genuine disgust surfacing toward his former self.
His eyes sharpened as he shifted his gaze to the Lin sisters. "The fact that the so called number one has yet to make a move is strange."
By so called number one, everyone knew he was not referring to Henry, the lord of the camp, but to Dominic, the man who had risen from a common refugee to the very top of both the eastern and northern camps.
