Chapter 423: Overwhelming Defeat

Chapter 423: Overwhelming Defeat

"You’re faster than before," Henry growled, his breathing already heavier than he wanted it to be. "That skill... it doesn’t just move you underground, does it?"

Gabriel did not answer. He adjusted his footing and advanced again, his presence pressing forward relentlessly, giving Henry no time to think and no time to reset.

Henry clicked his tongue and stomped the ground again, activating another skill as the veins of gold on his armor pulsed brighter. He thrust forward in rapid succession, each strike aimed at a different point on Gabriel’s body, chest, shoulder, thigh, neck, forcing him to respond rather than attack.

The spear was fast, unnaturally so, boosted by both Henry’s equipment and the skill enhancing his movement. To anyone else, it would have looked overwhelming.

Gabriel read it anyway.

He shifted, leaned, stepped, and redirected with minimal movement, the greatsword intercepting some strikes while his body avoided others by narrow margins. The blade scraped against the gold lined armor once again, leaving another shallow mark that failed to bite through.

’These gold rank treasures are truly annoying,’ Gabriel thought in annoyance. Even though Crimson Judgment was now a higher rank, having reached platinum, it did not magically shatter gold rank defenses, especially not a full body set reinforced by skills and experience.

Henry glanced at the deep scratch on his armor and smirked.

"That’s all you can do?" he snapped, his confidence spiking when he saw Gabriel’s attacks fail to break through. "You can’t even get through my defenses. You talk about ending cycles, but you don’t even have the strength to—"

Gabriel stepped inside the next thrust without warning.

Henry barely had time to react before a shoulder slammed into his chest, the impact driving the air out of his lungs and forcing him back. The armor held, but the shock traveled through it, rattling his ribs and throwing his footing off balance.

BANG!

A low kick followed immediately, aimed at Henry’s knee. It was not meant to break it, only to disrupt his balance. He stumbled sideways, barely keeping himself upright as his spear scraped against the ground.

The eastern camp soldiers watching felt their hearts tighten. This was not the clean, controlled fight they expected. This was Henry being pushed, forced backward step by step, despite his superior gear.

From above, Dominic’s henchman leaned forward, hands gripping the edge of the rooftop. "He’s being overwhelmed."

Dominic did not comment. His eyes never left the battlefield. It was exactly as he had foreseen. Moreover, the red haired man was clearly not displaying the full extent of his abilities yet.

Henry pulled himself back into position, breathing hard now, his chest rising and falling heavily beneath the armor. He stared at Gabriel, eyes bloodshot, jaw clenched so tightly it looked ready to crack.

"Bastard," he growled. It was the only word that left his mouth.

Gabriel rolled his neck once, loosening it, and replied nonchalantly. "I know the three hundred thousand citizens is the total of both the eastern and northern camps combined, but even so, for a lord and a hero rank, you are disgustingly weak."

That word struck deeper than any blow. Henry’s expression darkened.

Without another word, he roared and activated another skill, driving the spear forward with both hands.

BOOOM!!

A compressed wave burst from the tip, tearing through the ground and sending debris flying toward Gabriel. The attack carved a path through the battlefield, knocking several fighters aside and forcing Broken Dawn members to retreat rapidly.

Gabriel stepped into the attack instead of away from it. His body flickered as he activated Burrow Shift at the last moment, sinking beneath the surface just as the wave passed overhead.

Henry spun around instantly, spear sweeping in a wide arc as he anticipated Gabriel’s reappearance. The ground behind him erupted as Gabriel emerged, not attacking immediately, but repositioning slightly to his side.

Henry adjusted and thrust again, but Gabriel was already moving. He struck Henry’s wrist with the flat of his blade, not enough to break it, but enough to knock the spear off its ideal line. A heartbeat later, an elbow drove into Henry’s helmet.

CLANG!

The impact rang out like a bell.

Henry staggered, vision swimming as he fought to stay upright. He swung blindly in retaliation, the spear cutting through empty space as Gabriel stepped past it again.

"You rely too much on your armor," Gabriel said evenly, circling him. "You think it makes you untouchable."

Henry snarled and forced his breathing to steady. "It keeps me alive."

"For now," Gabriel replied.

He surged forward again, activating Bull Rush. Power exploded through his movement as he brought the greatsword down in a heavy overhead swing, forcing Henry to raise his spear and both arms to block.

The impact drove Henry’s boots deeper into the ground, cracks spreading outward as the pressure mounted. His arms trembled under the weight pressing down on him, the armor creaking as it struggled to distribute the force.

Henry stumbled, barely regaining his footing before Gabriel was on him again. A punch slammed into his side, right where the armor plates overlapped, driving the air out of him. A second strike followed, then a third, each one landing with controlled force, not wild or reckless, but precise enough to rattle his internals.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Blood spilled from Henry’s mouth inside the helmet.

From above, IceQueen felt her stomach drop. This was no longer a contest. It was a dismantling.

Henry tried to counter, thrusting upward toward Gabriel’s midsection, but the spear was slapped aside. Gabriel stepped inside the reach again and drove a knee into Henry’s stomach hard enough to make him fold.

He sidestepped calmly, letting the spear pass by his shoulder, then drove the greatsword forward, not slashing or swinging, but thrusting with all the force his body could produce.

The blade pierced through the gap beneath Henry’s helmet and continued upward.

Henry froze, eyes shaking. The world seemed to pause for a fraction of a second as steel punched through bone and into his skull. His body went rigid, fingers loosening around the spear as the light drained from his eyes.

Gabriel held the blade there for a moment, steady and unmoving, until the familiar kill confirmation message flashed across his vision. Then he pulled free.

A shower of blood erupted as Henry’s body collapsed in a heavy heap, the gold rank armor clattering loudly as dust rose around him.

Silence spread outward from the point where he fell. The eastern camp soldiers stared in disbelief, some dropping their weapons, others backing away slowly as reality sank in.

From the rooftop, Dominic’s smile widened, eyes brimming with excitement. His fingers curled slowly at his side as he stared at the fallen body below.

"Finally."

On the battlefield, Gabriel stood over the corpse, blood dripping from his greatsword, expression calm and unreadable. He turned his gaze toward Dominic’s direction and spoke in a loud, clear voice.

"How long do you plan on watching?"

"Hahahaha, interesting fellow."

A loud laugh came moments later, followed by the same calm voice. "I’ve seen enough. But if that’s all you have, you will need to do better. Otherwise, things are going to get really bad for you."
