Chapter 424: Dominic’s Castatrophic Attack [1]

Chapter 424: Dominic’s Castatrophic Attack [1]

Dominic’s carefree laughter made the faces of Broken Dawn and Eastern Camp soldiers pale as they felt coldness creep up their feet while sweating at the same time.

"This feeling." The eldest Lin sister, Xueyimi, frowned as she looked in the direction of the shout.

"What is it? Was his laugh some kind of skill, why am I becoming scared all of a sudden?" Alice cursed, feeling her legs suddenly grow weak.

"Although Dominic is very secretive with his treasures and skills, I suspect it’s a fear inducible type of ability that can reduce the morale of others," Xueyi explained, paused, then continued with a serious face. "That exact laugh... whenever he does that, it means he’s about to go all out."

Lin Xueyi’s tone dropped at the end, and her face was filled with pure anxiety. She was not the only one. Even her sister felt it, which made Alice even more curious about how strong this person truly was. Wasn’t he just a hero rank like them?

For them to be this scared, even though Gabriel had displayed his monstrous strength, treasures, and deadly skills, made her realize that Dominic was not simply hype but a monster in this part of the wilderness.

Sophie, who overheard this, looked at Gabriel, her eyes filled with concern.

The only people who remained calm were Scarlet and Anna.

"You guys look down on Master a lot," Anna said in a slightly annoyed voice, catching everyone’s attention as they were forced to look in her direction.

"Yes, that Dominic person might be higher ranked and even stronger, but I’ve followed my master around for quite a while, and there’s one thing I can confidently boast," she paused, a fierce light flashing across her eyes. "He always comes through no matter the odds. He has never backed down from any fight. He has always kept his word and delivered. So if he says he will conquer the Eastern Camp and claim it as his, best believe he will."

Anna’s voice carried clearly to all those around her. Her tone was not loud, but steady, firm, and filled with the kind of conviction that only came from someone who had watched Gabriel walk through impossible situations and come out the other side every single time.

Scarlet nodded faintly, arms folded, eyes never leaving Dominic’s direction. She didn’t add anything, but her silence was agreement.

Lin Xiyumi swallowed. She wanted to argue. She really did. She wanted to say that Dominic wasn’t just another hero rank, that he wasn’t someone you beat with brute force or flashy skills.

She wanted to explain that Dominic had climbed his way up from nothing, that he had survived terrifying enemies who tried to stake their claim on the eastern ravine, monster tides, and internal power struggles without ever showing his true hand.

Seeing her expression, Lin Xueyi placed a hand on her sister’s shoulder.

"Sister, we haven’t been with the leader and might not know him as well as his subordinates do, but I have a feeling the huntress is not bluffing, because so far he has proven himself to be a capable leader."

Lin Xiyumi only nodded, her eyes still filled with anxiousness.

"Let’s see."

...

Meanwhile

That arrogance... if it had come from someone like Henry, Gabriel would have found it irritating, but there was something different about Dominic’s.

As illogical as it sounded, just from his voice alone, Gabriel could sense his raw power, which made him a frightening opponent. As for how strong he truly was, Gabriel still did not fully grasp it.

One thing, however, he was certain of. This person was stronger than Henry and most hero ranks.

It should have scared him, but instead his pair of electric blue eyes flashed sharply under the night sky as a feeling he had not felt in quite a long time began to rise from the depths of his stomach.

Gabriel wiped Henry’s blood from his blade with a casual flick, then rested the greatsword against his shoulder as he raised his gaze. His expression was no longer calm and collected like he had always projected. Instead, it was filled with burning flame, a hunger for blood and battle, something that looked almost like anticipation.

He lifted his chin slightly, eyes locking onto the figure standing several distances away, yet because of his high perception stat, it felt like the two were not far apart.

Dominic.

Even from this distance, Gabriel could feel it. The pressure was not explosive like Henry’s had been. It did not roll outward in waves or announce itself with violent fluctuations. It was subtle and constant, like gravity quietly increasing around a single point.

Dominic tilted his head slightly, studying Gabriel with open interest.

"You know," Dominic spoke, "I had hoped Henry would at least force you to show more of your hand. But I suppose that was asking too much from someone who only knew how to hide behind numbers."

Gabriel’s eyes flashed. Indeed, the guess had been right. He had truly waited for him to kill Henry. Gabriel also realized the latter had been observing him throughout the battle, hence the reason he mostly used hand to hand combat.

The remaining Eastern Camp soldiers felt strange hearing this, and more importantly, they felt betrayed. If Henry and Dominic had put their selfish differences aside and joined the fight much earlier, they would have easily destroyed the red haired monster who had been causing all this damage.

Although they did not voice it, at this moment all the soldiers who had once looked up to Dominic as a role model, dreaming of climbing to the top just like him, now looked at him as though he was something else entirely.

"So," Dominic continued casually, stopping a short distance away. "Broken Heaven. Or should I call you Gabriel."

"You’ve done your homework," Gabriel replied evenly. "That’s good."

"In my position, it would be irresponsible not to." Dominic chuckled and glanced down briefly at Henry’s body, then back up.

"You see, Henry was predictable. He was driven by pride, fear, and his obsession with control. He thought being lord meant he owned everything beneath him.

"However, that doesn’t change the fact that you killed my business partner. You wiped out most of my eastern forces. And you’ve effectively turned this camp upside down in a single night. In order for me to fix all this, I’ll now bury you alongside your entire army."

Gabriel genuinely felt the urge to roll his eyes listening to those generic words, which were obviously meant for show since he would have to report to Northern Camp.

Right at that moment, Dominic’s eyes flashed as he lifted his arm into the sky, a cruel smile playing on his face.
