Chapter 436: Valor, the Mysterious Player

Chapter 436: Valor, the Mysterious Player

Somewhere not too far from the eastern camp, a figure was moving across the wilderness at intense speed, kicking up clouds of dust and startling small beasts nearby as she passed.

This figure was naturally IceQueen. Once she saw that Dominic was about to be defeated, she had quickly fled from the camp, slipping through one of the numerous gates.

She could not afford to remain there, because if Broken Dawn caught her, they would camp kill her until she dropped to level zero once again, which was something she was trying to avoid. You did not only lose levels, but also treasures, maps, and other important valuables.

Furthermore, she could not afford to log out here, because if she logged back in, this place would become her spawn point. Her best bet was to go as far away as possible.

While fleeing from the eastern camp as fast as she could, she kept an eye on the official game group chat, which was being constantly updated. She suddenly caught a glimpse of a message that momentarily grabbed her attention, and she slid to a stop, looking at the forum with a slightly narrowed gaze.

[Fuck, not even the strongest person in the eastern camp could stop Sir Broken!]

[At this point isn’t bro the final boss of this game?]

"He killed him?" IceQueen frowned as she read more of the forum information.

Since no one was really talking about what happened, she quickly typed a message and sent it to the forum.

[IceQueen: Reply me fast, what did he do to Dominic?]

[: Miss, you don’t command people here. Not all of us are members of your guild.]

When she saw that reply, thick veins throbbed at her temple. Being used to respect, and now having some unknown player talk to her like this, coupled with her current state of mind, really pissed her off.

If not for the fact that she did not know this person’s identity or whereabouts, she would have made their life unbearable in the game world.

"Lucky bastard," she sneered, and in order not to lose more composure, she refrained from asking any further questions.

One might ask why she could not simply ask in her personal guild forum. The reason was simple. She was the only person from the ChaosKnight guild present on the battlefield, which made it quite impossible.

Even the little information uploaded was mostly from Broken Dawn guild members who had been there.

Soon, a message appeared that caught her attention.

[What do you guys think Sir Broken wants to do to Dominic? He was chained and taken away.]

That text immediately caught the guild leader’s attention, confirming her fears. Dominic, whom she had thought could finally put an end to Broken Heaven’s reign, had been defeated as well.

[I think he wants to torture him or something?]

At this point, she stopped reading. There was literally no use continuing. The players were merely speculating and had no idea what they were talking about.

With her fists clenched and her eyes flashing with anger, IceQueen resumed moving. She did not run this time. She was already a considerable distance away from the camp, so she was not worried about anyone catching up to her so soon.

Of course, that was only if that monster decided not to come after her personally.

She could only hope Dominic did not mention anything about her. One reason she could even still play the game was because Gabriel had not really paid serious attention to her, which worked in her favor, even if it was the honest truth.

If he had, with the crazy amount of influence he held over players, she was quite sure he would have placed a bounty on her head or worse, hunted her himself.

The thought that she was losing over and over again when the other person had not even properly targeted her yet was embarrassing and irritating.

As she moved across the wilderness, IceQueen seriously began considering the advice of her brother and the vice guild leader, ChaosCleric.

The two had advised her not to go against Gabriel, but she had stubbornly refused.

’He can’t be invincible... he’s just like any NPC. I refuse to believe he’s special,’ she thought to herself, unaware that she had already walked into a clearing.

’Father has always told me never to give up. If I give up now, I’ll only look cowardly.’

She paused and raised her head.

"The best thing to do is look for that white phanto..."

She was unable to finish her words, because at that moment she caught a glimpse of a figure in the distance.

IceQueen squinted, slowing her steps as the figure became clearer, her eyes narrowing slightly as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing in the quiet clearing ahead.

It was not a player she recognized.

The person stood tall in the clearing, clad in heavy red armour from head to toe. The helmet had wing like sides, giving them a strange, almost warlike look. In their hands was a massive sword, its blade resting casually against the ground, as if its weight meant nothing at all.

Before she could think further, two massive bears burst from the trees, their sudden appearance breaking the stillness of the forest and sending birds scattering into the air.

They were huge, with thick fur and red eyes.

Level 50.

IceQueen instinctively took a step back to observe, because even as a level 50 mage, facing two level 50 monsters was no joke. She was very curious to see how this person would pull it off.

As for the armoured figure, they simply stepped forward, their movements steady and unhurried, as though the charging beasts were nothing more than a minor interruption.

The first bear charged, roaring as it lifted its claws high. The figure slid to the side and brought the sword up in a clean swing. Blood sprayed across the grass as the bear crashed to the ground, dead before it even finished its attack.

The second bear tried to flank, circling from the side.

It was a bad move.

The armoured figure pivoted, planted their foot, and drove the sword straight through its skull. The body fell with a heavy thud, shaking the clearing as dust and leaves stirred from the impact.

Just like that.

Both monsters were gone.

IceQueen stood frozen for several seconds, staring at the scene.

She had not even seen any skills used or flashy abilities. Just pure control.

For a moment, her mind went blank. Who was this person... why was she only finding out about them now?

She watched as the armoured figure calmly collected the monster cores, movements steady and practiced, as if killing level 50 beasts was routine.

IceQueen swallowed, then stepped forward.

"Hi," she said quietly.

The armoured figure paused and turned slowly.

She could not see their eyes, but she felt their gaze.

"Who are you? What are you doing here... may I know your name?"

They did not answer right away. After storing the cores, they stood upright and faced her.

Several seconds passed in silence, and IceQueen felt exposed.

Finally, the armoured figure spoke in a flat voice, without emotion.

"My name is Valor, or you can call me VV."
