Chapter 450 450: Refined Body

Chapter 450 450: Refined Body

Even after seeing the text flicker across his retina, Gabriel remained unresponsive and simply slumped back on the bathtub, releasing his grip from the edge he had been holding for dear life.

His breathing fell and rose as he remained there, trying to catch his breath.

The evolution process had been very painful and heart crushing.

Gabriel's entire body had been broken and reformed, and the impurities had been forcefully expelled from his body. However, somehow he still did not let out even a whimper.

"You… you handled that well. Surprisingly," Seraphina stated, shock evident in her tone.

"I have experienced it once," Gabriel said, his voice hoarse. "Besides, compared to what I felt at that last moment, this is child play."

Seraphina wore a look of confusion, clearly not knowing what he meant by that last moment. But Gabriel was referring to Sutre's last devastating attack.

Gabriel did not explain any further, neither did Seraphina ask. She was already aware of her partner's mysterious circumstances.

First things first, Gabriel shifted his gaze to the once pristine water, which now looked mucky and gave off a terrible stench.

Except for his nose twitching in disgust, there was no exaggerated expression on either Seraphina's or Gabriel's face, as both had seen worse.

Seeing that Gabriel was trying to crawl out of the tub, Seraphina's elegant voice called out, "Do you need help?"

"I'm fine," Gabriel replied.

But just as he finished speaking, his hand slipped and he fell back, hitting his head quite hard on the edge of the tub.

"Ouch." Gabriel let out a small whimper of pain as he rubbed his temple.

"Ptff, hahaha."

Gabriel lifted his head in time to see Seraphina laughing loudly, tears streaming down her eyes.

"Hey, why are you laughing?" he frowned, somehow more irritated and hurt by the vampire's laughter than the pain radiating from his temple.

"Hahaha, it is just so funny," Seraphina managed to say between laughs, holding her stomach as she tried to calm herself down. "You spoke so confidently and then immediately fell. I did not expect that."

Gabriel clicked his tongue and slowly sat up again, this time being more careful with his movements.

His whole body still felt strange. Not painful anymore, but heavy. Like he had just woken up after sleeping for days. He flexed his fingers, then clenched his fist. Strength filled his arm, far more than before, yet the exhaustion refused to leave.

"Enjoy it while you can," Gabriel muttered. "Next time you are the one evolving, I will laugh too."

Seraphina wiped the tear at the corner of her eye, her smile still lingering. "I doubt I would fall in such a clumsy way."

"Everyone says that until they hit their head," Gabriel replied flatly.

He finally pulled himself out of the bathtub. The moment his feet touched the floor, his legs trembled slightly, but he steadied himself against the wall. Black sludge still clung to parts of his skin.

The smell was still as awful as before, but Gabriel barely reacted.

"I need another wash," he said.

"Yes. Preferably before you contaminate the entire room," Seraphina replied, covering her nose with a look of mild disgust.

Gabriel ignored the jab and turned the shower on. Clean water began to run, washing away the filth bit by bit. As the dirt slid off his body, he could feel the difference clearly now. His senses were sharper.

The flow of water, the temperature, even the faint sound of Seraphina shifting her weight nearby all felt clearer.

Not only that, Gabriel also felt lighter. It felt as if a huge burden he had been carrying all this while was finally taken off him.

Just to confirm, he moved to the mirror and looked at himself. What stared back at him was a body that felt foreign yet familiar.

His muscles were now sharply defined, slim and aesthetic, not bulked up like a warrior or bodybuilders in the game, but sculpted in a way that drew attention.

Each line of his arms, chest, and abdomen caught the light differently, showing subtle angles and shadows. His shoulders were broad but not exaggerated, his waist trim, and even his posture seemed more commanding without him thinking about it.

Seraphina's gaze lingered longer than it probably should have, her crimson eyes scanning him carefully as if committing every detail to memory.

Gabriel noticed the shift immediately. He did not flinch or turn away. Instead, he raised an eyebrow and said dryly, "What? Do I have something on my face?"

Seraphina's lips twitched into a small, knowing smile.

"No… it is just… different," she admitted, her tone betraying her. "You are more refined. Slim, strong. Everything in the right place."

Gabriel smirked faintly, running a hand down his torso, feeling the taut muscles beneath his skin. He did not have this body last time.

Even with the evolution, his body had not been this refined and eye pleasing to look at in his past life. This was because the body did not magically become refined with evolution.

Evolution only hastened all the training and hard work Gabriel had been doing, bringing out the results faster.

Compared to his last life, he had been in more fights and confrontations, barely resting.

Talking about rest, I should check out the gym, Gabriel thought.

He took a step closer to the mirror, turning slightly, observing the contours of his shoulders and back. Even the reflection of his legs now looked more proportionate, lean but powerful.

"Do you plan to keep looking at yourself all day?" Seraphina asked, her tone teasing now, though she did not move away.

Gabriel glanced at her over his shoulder, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "No, but it is important to take note of improvements. I cannot ignore progress."

She stepped closer, tilting her head again, inspecting his reflection along with him as she replied softly, struggling to keep her eyes away. "I suppose that makes sense."

Gabriel, catching the subtle intensity in her look, gave a small, almost imperceptible shrug and turned back to the shower. The water hit his back, washing away the last remnants of black sludge, leaving his skin glistening under the steam and light.

Finally, he straightened, wiped his eyes, and stepped out of the shower.

"Alright… time to see what else changed."

As he said this, Gabriel pulled up his system status.
