Chapter 530: Martial Palace’s Invitation

Chapter 530: Martial Palace’s Invitation

Sophie’s fingers paused lightly over the report in front of her.

This was already the second visitor she had received within a week, and that fact alone made her eyes narrow slightly beneath the veil. The first had been her uncle. Now someone from Tianlan had come all the way here, and that only made the matter stranger.

She set the paper down neatly.

The only time New Dawn had crossed paths with cultivators from Tianlan was during the guild inter display event, and even that had not been a relationship deep enough to explain why someone would come here personally. The timing made her even more curious.

"Bring her in," Sophie said.

The guard bowed and stepped aside at once.

Sophie walked out of the administrative room instead of waiting, her steps calm and unhurried. The evening air in the camp was cooler now, and the noise from the training grounds had softened into a steady background of movement, orders, and distant footsteps. Several members who saw her coming instinctively straightened and moved aside without being told.

When she reached the receiving area, she stopped.

The woman standing there was familiar.

It was Evelyn.

Sophie recognized her at once as the second in command under Liang, the vice guild leader of Martial Palace. That alone was enough to deepen her surprise, but what truly caught her attention was the fact that Evelyn had come alone.

No escort.

No visible guards.

No attempt to make the visit seem larger than it was.

Evelyn turned and saw her approach. Her posture remained composed, and after a short pause, she greeted her with a polite nod.

"Lady Sophie," Evelyn said. "It has been a while."

Sophie returned the nod.

"I did not expect to see you here, especially by yourself."

Evelyn gave the faintest curve of a smile, reached into her sleeve, and brought out a small token. Without wasting words, she flicked it lightly through the air.

Sophie caught it on instinct.

The movement was clean and elegant. Her eyes lowered at once to the object in her hand, and she saw that it was no ordinary token. The material was old, heavy, and marked with symbols she did not immediately recognize, though the pressure around it made it clear it was not ordinary.

Evelyn watched her for a moment before beginning to explain.

"This concerns the Buried God’s Tomb," she said. "Tianlan has opened a restricted mission tied to it, and only ten invitation slots exist."

Sophie lifted her gaze from the token and looked at her fully now.

Evelyn continued in the same calm tone.

"Martial Palace, as the largest guild in Tianlan, was able to secure two of those slots. Our guild leader decided to give one away."

Her eyes moved briefly to the token in Sophie’s hand.

"That slot is for Broken Dawn."

Evelyn folded one arm across her waist and added, "At first, the decision was supposed to go another way. Since Gabriel had been affiliated with the Adventurer Guild when Vice Leader Liang met him, that invitation was originally going to them. But once we learned he had his own guild now, Vice Leader Liang changed his mind."

A brief pause followed.

"In short," Evelyn said, "Broken Dawn is invited to participate."

Sophie looked down at the token once more. A mission involving only ten slots, Tianlan, Martial Palace, and something called the Buried God’s Tomb was not the kind of opportunity that could be pushed aside casually. More importantly, she knew Gabriel well enough to understand that if he were standing here himself, he would not reject it.

So she did not hesitate.

"We accept."

Evelyn seemed unsurprised by the answer. If anything, she looked like she had expected that level of decisiveness from the start.

"That makes things simpler," she replied.

Sophie closed her fingers around the token. "What exactly should we know before moving forward?"

Evelyn did not go into too much detail. Her visit clearly had a narrow purpose, and she stuck to it.

"The route and conditions will be given later," she said. "This token is the proof of entry. Keep it safe. Without it, there is no participation."

Sophie nodded once. "Thank you. I am sure Gabriel will be grateful for this."

For a moment, it looked like the conversation was over. Evelyn turned slightly as if preparing to leave, but before taking her first step, she stopped and looked back.

"There is one more thing," she said.

Sophie’s eyes furrowed slightly.

"Vice Leader Liang still intends to spar with Gabriel. He mentioned it before, and he has not changed his mind. If possible, he would appreciate it if Gabriel attends in person," Evelyn said.

That...

Gabriel was not here currently. In fact, no one knew his exact location. They only suspected that he was in the Stellar Kingdom, and as for what he was doing, no one had any idea.

Sophie’s hand tightened slightly around the token, but nothing in her expression revealed that problem. She had no intention of telling Evelyn that now, not before speaking to Gabriel herself.

"I understand," Sophie said.

Evelyn studied her for a second, perhaps sensing that there was more beneath that answer, but she did not press any further.

"Good," she replied. "That is all I came to say."

She turned and walked away after that. A few nearby guards glanced at her while she passed, clearly aware that someone important had come and gone, but none dared ask questions.

Sophie stood there for a few seconds after Evelyn disappeared from view.

The token remained in her hand.

The invitation mattered. Liang’s message mattered too. But right now, only one thing came first. Gabriel needed to know.

She turned without delay and headed deeper into the camp. Several members stepped aside the moment they saw her expression, sensing that something important had happened.

Not long after, she found Cassie and Bunny.

They were in the middle of handling a small issue near one of the central sections, but the moment they saw Sophie walking straight toward them, Cassie stopped and straightened.

"What happened?" Cassie asked, a subtle frown appearing on her face.

"Hold a meeting," Sophie said in a serious tone. "Only the core members. Something important just came up, and we need to get in contact with Gabriel first."
