Chapter 538: Arriving at Tianlan: Not Alone!
Chapter 538: Arriving at Tianlan: Not Alone!
Vv did not answer immediately and simply observed White Phantom.
The train continued moving beneath their feet, and the faint vibration of the floor passed through the practice room. Gabriel could tell the armored figure was studying him, likely wondering whether the offer was casual or if he had another reason.
Gabriel knew he was stronger than Vv.
Even without using everything, the gap still existed. But that was exactly why he was interested. He wanted to see how long Vv could last if he used only part of his strength. If she could handle that level of pressure, then she was far from ordinary.
After a few seconds, Vv finally lowered the blade slightly.
"Fine."
Gabriel’s brow lifted a little. He had expected hesitation or even refusal, but the answer came cleanly.
"Good," he said. "Not here."
Vv tilted the helmet slightly.
Gabriel glanced toward the wall of the train. "If I use even half my strength in here, the train might not survive it."
Vv stayed silent for a moment, then accepted the explanation without question.
Not long after, the two left the train.
They stepped out into the wilderness while the train continued moving forward along the tracks. The cold night air brushed against Gabriel’s face, and the sound of the train faded as it moved farther away. They had already agreed to catch up afterward, so there was no need to stop it.
The open land around them was wide enough for a proper fight.
There were low rocks, dry grass, and uneven ground stretching beside the rail path. The moonlight was clear enough to reveal their positions, while the wind carried distant sounds of monsters far away.
Gabriel drew a plain looking sword, something an ordinary guard might carry.
Vv, on the other hand, held a massive sword.
The weapon was large and heavy, thick along the edge. It looked like it required raw strength to even swing properly. For a brief second, it reminded Gabriel of Crimson Judgment.
Gabriel rested the sword at his side. "Start whenever you want."
Bang!
Vv kicked off the ground, the earth cracking slightly under the force. The massive sword came down in a heavy arc, aimed straight at Gabriel’s shoulder.
Gabriel moved at the same time.
BANG!
Their blades clashed. The impact rang out across the field. Vv was thrown backward instantly, boots scraping through the ground as sparks flew from the armor. The armored figure slid several meters before driving the massive sword into the earth to stop.
Gabriel remained where he stood and scratched the side of his head with his free hand.
"Fifty percent is too much."
Vv pulled the sword free and turned back toward him. The armor showed no visible damage, but the tightening grip on the hilt made it clear the impact had not been light.
Gabriel adjusted his stance. "I’ll lower it."
This time, he reduced his strength further, bringing it down to around thirty percent.
Vv rushed in again.
Gabriel stepped forward to meet the attack. Their swords collided once more, but the result was different. Vv was still pushed back, but not sent flying like before.
The armored figure twisted, stepped aside, and used the size of the massive sword to force a wider angle.
Gabriel’s eyes sharpened slightly. "Better."
Vv did not respond and went in again.
The next exchanges came quickly.
The massive sword swept low, forcing Gabriel to shift his footing and adjust his wrist. His blade deflected the strike, and he answered with a quick stab toward Vv’s chest. Vv shifted the armor just enough to avoid the direct hit, then drove a knee toward Gabriel’s ribs.
Gabriel blocked with his elbow and stepped forward.
Vv followed up with another strike from above. Gabriel met it head on. The impact shook the nearby rocks, flattening patches of dry grass and splitting a thin line across the ground between them.
Gabriel’s interest grew with each exchange.
Vv was impressive.
Ragnarok99 had a higher level, but in terms of pure combat sense, Vv was sharper. The armored figure wasted no movement. Every attack either tested him, forced him into position, or set up the next strike.
There was patience too. The same kind of control he had seen in Scarlet, and maybe Sophie.
Vv did not panic under pressure. Instead, the armored figure adjusted quickly, changed footing, and kept watching Gabriel’s shoulders and grip instead of focusing only on the blade.
Gabriel almost felt like he was facing a weaker version of himself, though not as patient.
"Not bad."
Vv’s helmet turned slightly, but the attacks did not stop.
The fight continued.
Gabriel held his strength at around thirty percent, while Vv pushed harder with each clash. The massive sword carved into the ground more than once. Gabriel’s blade struck against the armor, leaving faint dents that would have been worse if he used more force.
One exchange sent Vv sliding across a patch of stone.
Another forced Gabriel to take half a step back, earning a faint look of approval in his eyes.
The spar went on until the sky began to lighten. The distant shape of the train came back into view along the tracks.
Gabriel lowered his sword first.
"Alright, that’s enough."
Vv stopped as well, the massive blade resting near the ground.
Gabriel glanced toward the moving train. "We should catch up."
The two returned without difficulty, their speed making the distance trivial.
By the time they reached the train again, the first sight of Tianlan had already appeared in the distance. Tall structures rose through the morning haze, and the land ahead looked different from the regions they had passed before. The train slowed slightly as it approached the outer route leading into the martial kingdom within the Realm of Ascendency.
Inside the train, several passengers had already gathered near the windows.
ChaosCleric stood to one side, rubbing his tired eyes as he looked outside. IceQueen stood nearby, her expression focused as she observed the area ahead.
"We are not the only ones here," IceQueen muttered.
Gabriel looked out.
More trains had arrived on nearby tracks.
Armored vehicles, beasts, flying mounts, and several groups of well dressed players and natives were already gathering near the station area.
The Buried God’s Tomb mission had not started yet, but the invited forces had already begun to arrive.
