Chapter 2194: Gathering Information
Chapter 2194: Gathering Information
Time went by as I used the space layers to travel. I didn’t stop during the evening or through the night.
I had already put the zero puppet inside the system space, so I was alone right now.
I didn’t know which landscape I was traveling over, but I didn’t stop to check. I had a feeling that I had not reached my destination yet.
I could slow down whenever I wanted. Just then, my senses detected a presence. I spread my mental power and slowly covered the surroundings.
It didn’t take long for me to sense an approaching group. It was the presence of wizards. I didn’t try to explore further, fearing it could alert them, and pulled my gaze away.
I raised my eyebrows, hid my presence, and paused my movements in mid-air. Then, I continued to look in their direction.
My vision could cover a longer range than before. I spotted a group of wizards led by an old man. He seemed to be a Magic Lord, and the wizards behind him were Supreme Wizards.
My mouth curved into a smile. There seemed to be a wizard nation nearby; I could ask them for information.
I took a white mask from the system space and put it on. My clothes were those of a normal wandering wizard, so no one would be able to recognize my presence.
Swoosh!
The five-member group consisted of Supreme Wizards: three middle-aged men and two older women. The white-haired old man was the leader of the group.
All of them wore mixed black and white clothing. Their attire showed that they belonged to a specific wizard organisation.
"We have to move fast. The neighboring nation is attacking our borders," the white-haired man said without turning back.
Hearing that, the faces of the Supreme Wizards behind him changed drastically. The wizard team had been outside doing a mission for a long time and had been called back abruptly.
They didn’t say anything in response, quietly following behind the old man.
Suddenly, the white-haired old man’s expression changed. He stopped in mid-air, looking in one particular direction with a serious face.
Seeing this, the Supreme Wizards behind him stopped in mid-air as well.
They didn’t know what had happened to the old man. They had never seen such an expression on his face, but it showed that something was wrong.
The white-haired old man sensed the presence of a Magic Lord, but it was not an ordinary one.
He felt a powerful threat from this Magic Lord. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. The next second, he turned toward the wizards behind him.
"Quiet!"
"Don’t move an inch," the white-haired old man ordered.
The members were shocked. They realized they had encountered danger, unaware of what would happen next.
"Leader, what happened?" one of the female Supreme Wizards asked.
The other wizards looked around, but they couldn’t detect any presence because the threat was out of their range.
They turned back to the old man and saw his reaction. From his expression, they could tell the threat was real.
They had only seen that expression when he faced a Forbidden Wizard, so they were terrified he had recognized an enemy Forbidden Wizard.
Among the male wizards, a blue-haired man with a well-built body stepped forward. He was the strongest among them-a Supreme Wizard of water magic.
Seeing him step forward gave the other members some courage. The background of the blue-haired man was not simple.
"Elder Sullivan, what’s going on?" he asked.
The white-haired old man recognized the voice. Slowly, he turned around and looked at the blue-haired wizard.
"Stuart, there is an unknown Magic Lord watching us up ahead," Sullivan replied.
Gasp!
The Supreme Wizards were taken aback. They had thought an enemy Forbidden Wizard had arrived. If it was only a Magic Lord, the old man could handle the threat himself.
The Supreme Wizards looked toward Elder Sullivan in confusion.
Stuart said, "Elder Sullivan, why don’t you attack the wizard?"
Hearing that, Sullivan collected his thoughts. He didn’t know why he felt so uneasy looking toward the unknown wizard.
He turned back around and said, "You guys wait for me here. I’m going to check what’s going on."
Swoosh!
After saying that, Sullivan left and began to approach the unknown wizard. He didn’t use a space layer to shorten the distance.
Stuart and the others stayed behind. They could tell that a fight might break out, and a battle between Magic Lords could easily disrupt the environment.
They needed to be careful. They didn’t know what type of magic the unknown wizard possessed, and it could affect them as well.
Meanwhile,
I saw the old man coming toward me. Seeing this, I crossed my arms and waited for him to arrive.
Sullivan stopped a hundred meters in front of me. A fight could break out at any moment. He saw that I was wearing an unknown mask, making my presence even more mysterious.
"Hello, my name is Sullivan. We are from the Blue Shell Nation. I don’t know why you are staring at us," Sullivan said in a polite tone.
There was a reason for his politeness. His senses were screaming at him. A feeling of impending death covered his heart, and he didn’t want to stay there.
At the same time, I decided to collect more information from him, so I started asking questions.
"If you are from a seafaring nation, then what are you guys doing here?"
"We’re far away from the sea," I added.
Before the old man could answer, I shifted my attention to the whale outline in my spell model.
"Whale Deterrence."
A powerful, deterrent aura radiated from my body. The old man stood frozen as he sensed extreme danger.
The overwhelming threat of death almost stopped his mind from working. He stood frozen, unable to think, let alone answer my question.
Sullivan started trembling with fear. He had not faced this much terror even against Forbidden Wizards, yet he was experiencing it in front of an unknown Magic Lord.
I watched the old man sweat and tremble, showing me that Whale Deterrence was working.
