Chapter 2202: Part 1: Outer Hall Member
Mage Union – Outer Hall
Knowing that these elders were here to test me, I turned my attention toward them. I was ready to face whatever the test was going to be.
The five elders had shifting expressions on their faces; they were looking forward to seeing the strength of the young man before them.
Elder Dana turned toward them.
The five elders exchanged glances.
Among the five elders, one of the elderly women with long white hair stepped forward. She was the oldest among them.
She looked at Vincent Carey and said, "Young man, let’s begin. Reveal your mana presence. Don’t hide anything."
Hearing that, I looked toward the long, white-haired woman and replied, "Okay."
Boom!
The next second, I released my mana presence. A powerful mana pressure surged from my body. The pressure of a Magic Lord spread outward.
The five elders and Elder Dana faced the strong wave as it swept past them. The coercion struck their bodies, but they felt nothing.
Boom!
The pressure spread across the hall before slamming into the pillars and walls.
When the aftermath settled, calm returned. My gaze fell upon the elders. Not a single fabric on their robes had moved.
I had thought that after becoming a Magic Lord, I could join the ranks of the higher-ups.
But I was wrong. A massive chasm existed between each level. The Forbidden Level Chasm was a huge mountain lying ahead of me.
I had to focus on climbing that mountain first before dreaming of becoming an Elder-level powerhouse.
A solemn look settled across my face.
The long-haired woman remarked, "Yes, this is indeed the aura of a Magic Lord. His foundation is exceptionally deep and solid. No shortcuts were taken."
The other four elders nodded in agreement. Elder Dana felt a quiet relief in her heart; she was glad she had not attempted to probe Vincent Carey earlier.
The white-haired woman continued, "Next, it’s time to test your offensive spells."
Having said that, she turned toward the men. One of them stepped forward. He was an older man with short black hair, built with an imposing physique.
"Kid, hit me with your strongest attack spell," the elder said. His voice sounded grave, yet his eyes gleamed with anticipation.
Hearing that, I grew serious. I glanced at the other elders around me. None of them had shifted an inch from their positions; they remained planted firmly in place.
It was as if they were fully prepared to withstand the attack, completely unbothered by the potential impact.
"What are you waiting for?"
"Cast your spell at me," the black-haired elder commanded.
Taking a breath, I stilled my racing heart. I extended my right hand and aimed my fingers straight at the black-haired elder.
"Gravity Blast."
A dense beam of dark gray gravitational force gathered at the tip of my index finger.
That ominous shade had only manifested after acquiring the spell model from the Giant Earth Whale, which had reshaped the mana core as well. Thus, the dark gray hue came as no surprise.
Boom!
The next instant, I fired at the black-haired elder. The finger beam shot out in a piercing straight line, tearing through the air.
Swoosh!
In the blink of an eye, the dark gray beam struck the elder’s body. But he had braced himself.
The moment the spell made contact, a violent detonation erupted.
The dark gray energy unleashed crushing gravitational pressure alongside the blast, trying to tear through the man’s flesh.
Boom!
The elder’s expression shifted drastically. He had not actively shielded himself, relying entirely on his formidable Elder-level physique.
Yet, he watched as a Magic Lord spell managed to breach his defenses. A shallow cut, less than an inch long, opened across his chest. Although it was too faint to bleed, it was more than enough to shock him.
Boom!
With a swift motion, the elder dispelled the remaining Magic Lord energy.
Once the fallout cleared, I looked back at him. A faint trace of irritation lingered on his face.
The white-haired woman noticed the small cut as well, her eyes flickering with surprise. She was not alone; the other two female elders and the bald elder saw it too.
They were thoroughly astonished.
Elder Dana was equally shaken on the inside. However, these elders possessed remarkable mastery over their emotions.
To an ordinary onlooker, it would have seemed insignificant. But inwardly, they were already evaluating the terrifying damage output of that single attack.
The short-haired elder broke the silence: "You have passed the test with flying colors."
Hearing that, I let out a sigh of relief. The subtle annoyance on the elder’s face faded away.
My gaze swept across the rest of the elders; though mild surprise registered on their faces, their reactions remained largely restrained.
My attack had managed to leave a cut.
It was merely the baseline power of a Magic Lord spell, cast without the amplification of my stacking ability, so I had anticipated a far more visible reaction from them.
"System, what’s going on?" I asked inwardly.
[Ding! The elders are deeply shocked, but they are deliberately concealing it.]
Hearing the system’s reply, a storm churned in my chest. I hadn’t realized they were suppressing their reactions so thoroughly.
Ahem!
Elder Dana cleared her throat lightly, drawing everyone’s attention back to her.
"Can we grant him the Outer Hall badge now?" she asked.
The white-haired elder replied, "Yes, we may. But before that, he must leave behind his mana imprint."
Buzz!
Saying this, she channeled her mana into the surrounding pillars.
Every pillar throughout the hall flared to life, radiating brilliant light. Shortly after, the tiles at the center of the floor slid open.
A pillar of yellow crystal slowly rose from beneath the ground.
When my eyes fell upon it, I froze. Countless points of light drifted within the translucent mineral.
I stared at the yellow crystal, completely mesmerized.
"Use your mental power to scan the crystal," the white-haired female elder instructed.
A wave of unease washed over me. I had no idea what this yellow crystal truly was. I could feel the collective weight of the elders’ gazes bearing down on me, including Elder Dana’s.
She had remained quiet from the beginning, likely because these elders held far greater seniority than her.
