Chapter 2203: Part 2: Outer Hall Member
Outer Hall – Mage Union
"Why are you spacing out again?" the short-black-haired elder said. He didn’t know what the young man was thinking.
Hearing that, I collected my thoughts. I had no idea what this was about, but I didn’t want to show any weakness here.
First, I decided to check with the system.
"System, what does the crystal do?" I asked.
[Ding! The yellow crystal is a powerful natural relic. It stores the mana imprints of wizards.]
[Ding! If a wizard is dead or injured, the color of their mana imprint will change.]
I heard the system’s voice in my mind, and my eyes flashed with understanding. I guessed there was no way to hide from it.
An Elder-level powerhouse could easily distinguish the real from the fake. If I didn’t do it now, I wouldn’t be allowed to become a member.
So, I walked up to the yellow crystal. I didn’t want to do it, but I had no choice.
Under everyone’s watchful gaze, I used my mental power to scan the yellow crystal. The next second, I found my consciousness inside it.
Buzz!
Just then, a flicker of mental power split from my consciousness and formed a yellow orb. The orb then floated toward countless others.
The white-haired female elder nodded.
She then took out a new badge from her storage bracelet, though it looked more like a relic token. It was as durable as iron, yet clearly made from a special material.
The token was black. It bore the emblem of the Mage Union on one side and the symbol of the Silver Tower on the other.
"Pour your mana into this token to activate it," the white-haired female elder said.
She then tossed the black token to Vincent Carey.
I raised my hand and caught it, immediately feeling its immense weight. It was undeniably crafted from a rare material.
I examined both sides of the token in my hand before channeling my mana into it. The black token flared to life.
Buzz!
The token continued to absorb my mana, making me frown.
"Don’t be surprised. The token functions as an artifact as well. It is Grade-13 and can block a few spell attacks from an Elder-level powerhouse," the long-white-haired female elder explained.
It didn’t take long for the token to finish absorbing my mana. Once it did, I felt a faint connection form with it.
I could sense the latent power sealed inside. With that done, I stowed the token into my storage bracelet.
"If you ever find yourself in danger-especially against an Elder-level powerhouse-this token will protect you," the white-haired female elder said.
Hearing that, I thanked the elders. They nodded in return, clearly pleased with the young man’s strength.
The white-haired female elder continued, "You are now part of the Outer Hall. There are no official factions within the Outer Hall, but we each maintain our own circles among the Silver Tower Wizards."
"If you need any assistance, you may contact Elder Dana. When there is a mission, you will be summoned," she added.
The short-black-haired old man stepped forward.
"The Mage Union enforces strict rules," he said. "Once you return to your quarters, review them thoroughly."
"If you encounter trouble from other members, you can always report them first," he added.
Hearing that, I committed the instructions to memory, though I fully intended to handle my enemies alone-especially the Forbidden Wizard Remi and a few other old foes.
Next, the long-white-haired female elder spoke: "Dana, take him back and explain the rest to him. For now, there are no missions assigned to him."
"Understood," Dana replied.
The other elders remained silent. Soon after, I left the Outer Hall building and stepped outside. I could hardly believe the induction process was already over.
I looked out across the sea of clouds dotted with a series of crystal towers. I had no idea when I would return here next.
I wanted to linger a bit longer, as the area was rich with dense, concentrated mana.
However, Elder Dana gave me no time to dawdle.
Swoosh!
She tore through the spatial layer, creating a wide spatial rift. My gaze locked onto the tear.
It was an advanced application of spatial manipulation.
"Let’s go back," Elder Dana said.
A moment later, we stepped into the rift.
Thud!
I felt a sudden sensation of weightlessness as my body descended. Moments later, my feet touched solid ground, and Elder Dana materialized beside me.
I looked up and recognized the Silver Tower Gate. We were back.
Creak!
We pushed through the silver gates and entered the main hall, where Elder Charlotte and Manager Lara were waiting.
Seeing Elder Dana, both of them stood up respectfully to greet her, their eyes immediately shifting toward Vincent Carey.
Lord Charlotte quickly pieced together what had happened.
Elder Dana looked at them with a faint smile. "Vincent Carey is now a member of the Mage Union. He has formally joined the Outer Hall."
"I knew it," Lord Charlotte said. "He hasn’t been back long, yet news of his breakthrough has already reached the Mage Union."
Elder Dana chuckled softly. "The elders knew the moment he and Erwin entered the Magic City."
I, on the other hand, was hearing this for the first time. I hadn’t expected the Mage Union to be informed so quickly.
Elder Dana asked, "What is Erwin doing right now?"
"He is resting," Charlotte replied.
"How did he manage to escape?" Dana asked.
Hearing that, Charlotte glanced at Vincent, unsure whether Elder Dana would believe the truth.
Manager Lara smiled inwardly, eager to see Elder Dana’s reaction.
Charlotte then smiled as well and began explaining their experience.
A few minutes later,
Elder Dana’s expression shifted. She turned toward Vincent Carey, regarding him with open astonishment.
The pieces were finally falling into place.
"No wonder he was able to escape that place," Elder Dana remarked, offering sincere praise. "You did well."
She knew better than anyone how difficult it was. Even with a spatial artifact, breaking out of an Elder-level powerhouse’s lair was nearly impossible.
