Chapter 479 - Blanche, White Phoenix
Chapter 479 - Blanche, White Phoenix
Marigold sat comfortably on a white flaming chair, her golden eyes resting on the stunning woman sitting across the table.
The realm she found herself in was nothing but a hissing, puffing, and crackling immaculate white fire from all sides.
The table and the chairs ringed around it were put on the back of a sculpture shaped like a screeching Phoenix, its eyes holding too much intelligence to just be nothing but an inanimate object.
"Marigold of Light Torcheur," the woman sitting across from Marigold scowled, eyes dripping like a pool of pale water, "Your visit was not, let's say, truly expected."
Idalia Marigold's lips curled upward, a smile creeping along the edge of her lips. She watched the woman, named Blanche, the White Phoenix of the Phoenix's family.
Everything of her was white, going from her skin, hair, eyebrows, and even her tongue. It was eerie, yet strangely beautiful.
She looked like a doll made to be pampered.
"I came today only to ask you for something, Blanche." Idalia answered, crossing her legs leisurely, "I assumed that knowing our history together, you will not refuse me."
For a brief instant, Blanche's white eyebrow furrowed, her face frowned in one of distaste before she regained her neutral expression.
It was so fast that no one could have noticed. Marigold did. And she said nothing except smiling even deeper.
"What do you want?" Blanche asked, her long white nails tapping impatiently at the table.
"I feel like visiting the Spirit World lately," Marigold began, "and I
would need an anchor to the Waking Universe in order to go and come back whenever I get bored."
"And you think I will help you?" Blanche smiled, though it didn't reach her eyes. They were as cold as death, despite the rising temperatures around.
"Why wouldn't you?" Marigold asked, "I have come especially to ask your help. Do you think I needed to do that? I could have simply ripped away dozens of your family's hearts and it would be over."
She tilted her head, her own golden eyes beginning to flicker like smoldering ashes.
Blanche's lips were pressed into a thin line, her muscles tense despite her cold, neutral face.
"You wouldn't dare to do such a thing." The White Phoenix hissed. "You really think so?"
"Not only my family, all the Phoenix's family will hunt you if you ever dare. You know it, Marigold. That's why you are here, trying to bargain with me for help."
Blanche snickered.
"Who are you trying to fool?"
"I am a Celestial, Blanche." Marigold grated, "I am a True Child. Do you
-!"
"How is your brother?"
Dead silence.
Marigold's body unconsciously shuddered, her stomach knotted into a ball, her pulse increasing.
She glared at Blanche, face flushed red, slithering angry veins twisting her vitiligo skin.
"How do you know?" She growled.
"Everybody knows." Blanche said, "And me, Marigold, knowing you, I can say that you are here because of him."
"Then if you know me, Blanche, as you claim." Idalia retorted, "then you should know that I will do anything to go to the Spirit World. And that even if your whole fucking family will be on my back."
She paused, looking at her deeper,
"Do you believe I am telling falsehoods?"
Blanche answered with silence. She didn't want to admit it, but the state at which Idalia stood was too unstable.
Blanche scarcely remembered in the past when Idalia Marigold was exactly like this. And it was either because she had dreamed of her brother claiming her again, or because the man she loved loathed her. And Blanche was there, helping her go through the process of trauma and depression.
She was the only one willing to listen to Marigold.
She was the only one to have loved her sincerely. But not anymore.
For Blanche now knew that you cannot love a broken being like Idalia.
One would end up being as broken as she was.
Blanche knew. Oh, she knew it damn well.
Due to that, she had no intention to mingle herself with Marigold
more than necessary.
Added to that, Marigold was like a spoiled child. If one didn't give her what she wanted, she would throw a bloody tantrum.
And none would wish to see how destructive a being at the top of the universe could be in that volatile state.
So with a resigned sigh, Blanche looked at Marigold, pity flashing through her eyes seeing the Celestial's state.
"As you will." Blanche finally said, "I will give you what you want, and
you get out of my world. Do me a damn favor for once, stay there and
don't come back."
"After everything we lived together?" Marigold said.
"Especially because of that. After all, you didn't mind throwing all of
those moments away when you felt the need, did you? Now, Marigold, do me proud and tell me when do you want to go."
"Right now."
"What?" Blanche asked incredulously.
Marigold stood up, her body licked by fire.
"I want to go to the Spirit World right now, Blanche. I have a bitch to
get back after all."
"You are the bitch."
Marigold paused, sparing Blanche a dark glance, internally pondering whether to kill or not kill. Finally...
"Just do your fucking job."
"Tsk."
...
Meanwhile, in the Spirit World, inside the domain of the ruler The
Light That Was Once, Noah was sitting, his legs on a well-ornate table, his hand playing with something between his fingers.
It was a red Tower, but the tower was not whole, missing some parts.
Elira and Yuki were laying down beside him, discussing with each other whatever crossed their bored minds.
Mainly, they were talking about their Gifts. Elira had asked to see
Sword of Severance of Yuki, in return she would show her own, Soul
Modeling.
Noah didn't pay attention to their discussion, his mind more focused on the tower and the creature floating across the table.
It was a small fluffy round creature, golden in color, with a wide
blinking eye in the middle. Wings, like those of fairies, erupted behind
it.
The creature was cute in all aspects. That is, if one didn't know that it was the ruler himself.
"That's curious." Noah whispered, talking to the ruler without looking
at him, "Who would have thought this? Is this why you are not
acknowledging my mother?"
He asked.
"Yes, my friend Noah." The ruler answered gently.
There had been no battle needed against the ruler. Noah had simply
activated the LOGOS blessing of Tiamat, making the whole Dominion halt for one second.
It was all he could manage against a Ruler, for now. One second. But it
was more than enough.
Yuki and Elira had killed the most dangerous souls inside the Dominion while Noah himself took care of the ruler.
He had used Singularity from The King in The North, causing an
impossible event to occur. Noah had compressed the encompassing mind of the Ruler into a single thread of consciousness.
Next he had used his atom manipulation, changing one internal
pathway of the Ruler's mind-like thread.
There, Noah added a new synapse-like connection that went directly to the Ruler's consciousness. That connection had only one role. And it was to increase exponentially the favorability of the ruler towards Noah.
Only that, and Light That Was Once treated Noah like his greatest friend ever, none being the wiser. Especially after Noah reversed time to make sure the Dominion was intact.
The LOGOS blessing was too abnormal.
But now, just like how Noah had said, they were only talking.
"So there is no Principality governing the Spirit World of our universe?" Noah said, playing with the broken Tower, "Which makes
you four the True Rulers by sharing the source of the Principality's authority between you?"
"And my mother wishing to be a ruler meant you will need to part away some of your authority."
"And none want such a thing, my good friend Noah." The ruler said. He
seemed to shrug. It was hard to tell. "And besides, I will tell you this
and be honest because we are friends. But I hate your mother, my good friend."
Noah's lips twitched.
Beside him, Yuki and Elira were now focused on the talk, suppressing
laughter at the cute yet serious voice of Light That Was Once.
"And why is that, Light?" Noah asked. Light seemed to have made a disgusted and angry face.
"Because Love loves her. And I love Love."
Noah's face froze. Yuki and Elira cackled.
"I beg your pardon?" -End of Chapter 479-
