Chapter 511 - Fatherless yet a Father
Chapter 511 - Fatherless yet a Father
"Noah Vaelgrim is mine."
The gathering of the elders of the Sunu Gall Tribe fell immediately silent. None could see their faces, but their eyes slowly shifted towards the cold and feminine voice who had just spoken.
The silence lingered and deepened even further, threatening to reach a choking level of hidden apprehension, until a bold one mercilessly dispelled it.
"Noah Vaelgrim, Oldest Sister?" The man gingerly asked. "Who might that man be to catch your curse-! I mean, your blessed attention?"
The other tribesmen snapped their heads towards the speaker, their eyes clearly showing how they wanted to do more than look for such a mistake.
The woman didn't answer. But another did. The closest person sitting beside her. And so, an old, hoarse voice echoed:
"He is well known." The voice whispered, as if talking too loudly would kill him, yet everyone listened with rapt attention. "He is the destroyer of the Universe. Ah..."
He made an audible smack of lips. His smile could be heard, if not
seen.
"...too big of a name for him, I wager. Let's say the Wounder of the Universe."
"That guy?" A voice exclaimed. "Interesting. I have heard a lot about. him. But are you sure, Oldest Sister? Whispers tell us many Tribes want that man and his family. Even the Hushu Tribe."
Some eyes visibly frowned.
"Why would those men want him?"
"Potential, of course. Noah Vaelgrim has the highest potential to ever exist in this whole Universe. Didn't you sense his arrival hours ago?"
"Oh, yes. It was him, wasn't it? Did he obtain control of the Spirit World? How interesting. How truly interesting."
"So that's why they wish to obtain him."
"Yes. And you know what happens when the Hushu tribesmen wish for something."
A sense of apprehension instantly filled the hidden realm.
"Useless trouble. However," another one followed, looking at the Oldest Sister, "He has incredible children, Oldest Sister. I personally believe the Light of Mercy would be perfect for you."
"The Queen of Dreams?"
"That's a bother. She is linked to the Universe of Dreamspawn. And you know who owns that Universe."
"The One Who Dreams?"
"Yes. And no one wishes for affairs with that being."
"But why did they choose her as Queen?"
"Who knows? But rumors say The One Who Dreams has prophesied the Birth of the Queen of Dreams from another Universe. A Queen to the Dreamspawn, and a Queen of his Universe. All in all, we must put her aside. The Light of Mercy is largely enough."
"The wives, too. The Malan Tribe enjoys the rotten pleasure of flesh. We can strike a deal with them once we get the-!"
"Did I not make myself clear?" The Oldest Sister spoke again, colder. "Noah is mine, and his wives will also be mine, for he will never truly be mine except if that condition is fulfilled."
"Why-!"
"The Shaman said so."
"But why do you want him this much, Oldest Sister?" The voice asked in a desperate tone.
Oldest Sister didn't answer immediately, her eyes unblinking before finally allowing the answer to escape the bounds of her blessed mouth.
"Because this time, I want him to love me and not hate me."
It felt like the universe was crashing down, eyes bulging so wide it looked like they would pop out.
"And that fact sprouted this new decision I wanted to share with you, my tribesmen..."
A cold smile made of eyes appeared in the darkness just below Oldest Sister's set of eyes.
"No one of our Sunu Gall Tribe will attack the Vaelgrim's Family. Have
I been clear?"
People began to fall down.
"No one."
Oldest Sister hissed.
'I will not even let the Pillars touch you, Raj.
This time, I will be by your side.
This time, you...
...
"Father!" Premier and Foxy chirped with overwhelming joy, wrapping
their arms tightly around Noah.
They were not the only ones. Fated, Destiny and Caus appeared too,
not wishing to miss this heartfelt moment.
The women stood aside, looking at the scene with warm smiles on their lips, but also with deep hidden surprise.
They could feel the power rolling out from Premier and Foxy like the
spilling water of an ocean - and they had to admit that some of them would struggle against them.
That realization made them even more motivated to climb higher in
the strength ladder.
Always higher.
"Ah well, haven't you grown, dears?" Noah said with a joyous tone, staring at his children with pride. "You are nothing like I expected."
"Is that a compliment, father?" Foxy giggled.
"Oh of course, yes, my Queen of Dreams."
Foxy's face flushed red in embarrassment. "Oh no! Not you, too,
father!"
The Dreamspawn behind began to shed hidden tears at the refusal of
their Queen to acknowledge her new status again.
"You are making the poor women sad. Why don't you accept?"
Premier grinned.
Foxy spared him a glare.
"Yes, sister, it's your destiny." Destiny said, hanging on Noah's left arm,
kissing it playfully.
Fated followed suit, hanging on Noah's right arm like a koala on a tree.
"I dare even say it's your ultimate Fate."
Caus, meanwhile, was wrapping his tiny arms around Noah's neck.
"Caus think you cannot escape. Probability, you ask Caus? Zero."
Behind, the Dreamspawn smiled, almost having the blasphemous thought of kissing the feet of anyone other than her Queen.
Fortunately, no one knew.
However, Foxy was getting weary of their words, and so began to bicker with her siblings about the virtue of minding their own
business.
Noah barked a laugh, raised easily his right hand and ruffled the hair
of Premier affectionately.
"You did good, Premier." He said with a wide smile. "You did truly
good."
Premier's eyes shimmered, but he bit the inside of his lips, stopping
the tears from falling down. "Thanks, father."
"Was it hard?"
At that question, all the children of Noah instinctively flinched. And
Premier could no longer stop the tears from raining down his cheeks.
The wives immediately became alerted. Shadeva was instantly behind Premier, hugging him from behind affectionately.
Premier had always been her favorite.
Noah's face was neutral, though a wisp of worry could be seen deep
in his eyes, waiting for the answer of his firstborn. Finally succeeding in controlling himself, Premier answered, his tone
oddly calm:
"It was hard, father. It was truly hard." He smiled, eyes glowing with restrained tears. "But I made it."
His smile blossomed into something achingly beautiful.
"I did it, father. I didn't disappoint you. I didn't disappoint mothers. I
didn't disappoint my siblings. I..." his voice tightened, tears falling down again,
"...I didn't disappoint our family."
Shadeva hugged him tighter, and Maryam approached the silently
crying Foxy and took hold of her granddaughter and daughter at the same time.
The others went to Caus, Destiny and Fated, equally crying without knowing why.
In one instant, the whole family was hugging each other, crying, and Noah stood there, in the middle, looking at his weeping firstborn. He smiled, his eyes also shimmering, sensing a hidden pain behind his son's eyes. But he lowered a bit his head, refusing to let his tears be seen, and whispered in the kindest and warmest voice he ever used:
"Yes," a lone tear trickled down, "You have been worthy."
He hugged his son.
"You have always been worthy, Premier. And I am proud of you."
That was all Premier needed, before breaking into an uncontrollable
choke of cries.
There was something profound in having the acknowledgment of your father.
Premier felt that at that moment.
And he would never forget this feeling until the end of existence.
