Chapter 512 Leisure Time
Chapter 512 Leisure Time
Noah was sitting on a patch of white grass smeared by crimson ice, smiling faintly as he leaned his back against the bark of a colossal pale tree with fruits beyond words, his children all sprawling on him.
Caus was already sleeping, feeling such ease that an Origin like him found rest in the protective embrace of Noah; of his father.
Fated and Destiny were playing on Noah's body, looking at his tattoos - that looked too much like they belonged to a Tribe - and asking random questions about why there are two more mothers.
Why whenever their father went out for a little journey, he came back with at least one more wife.
They didn't stop there. Oh no, they were not that subtle.
The unruly children even dared to ask the question about how they should address Maryam.
"Should we call her mother?" Fated inquired with a mischievous tone. "Or grandmother? All this is so confusing, father."
"Confusing, indeed." Destiny whispered, softly kissing the tattoo of Noah. Something inside those tattoos churned her very core. They were not normal, she knew, and there was a huge yet subtle power of Destiny swirling inside.
"You are making things difficult for us." She followed, keeping her thoughts to herself. "It was already a task to know how to act with Mother Selene, now there is another."
"It's the habit of Father." Foxy shrugged. "As for whether it's a bad or a good one..." She drawled playfully.
Foxy was putting her head on Noah's left shoulder - Premier taking the right one-looking with a subtle smile at the beautiful white sky above. "You always like to be in improbable relationships, father."
"That's what makes it fun." Noah finally answered, smiling. "And you can call her however you see fit. If you prefer grandmother, do so. I am pretty sure she will be thrilled. After all, isn't it the dream of any mother to coddle her grandchildren?"
"Okay, but that aside, father, do you know how many mothers we have at this time?" Foxy asked again. "We are immortal, true. But do you trust our memories that much?"
"Too few." Noah shrugged with a grin. "And I trust you. This number is nothing."
Foxy, Destiny and Fated's eyes twitched wildly, while Premier nodded proudly, giving his father a thumbs up.
The son was clearly proud of his father, and even wished to achieve the same level. However, until now, Premier never truly had the time and even the mind to think of women.
It was not like no woman ever caught his eyes. Some did. But he always told himself he had a greater purpose, and a woman in his growth stage would cripple him instead.
And in fact, that was still what he was thinking. He was powerful now, achieving a higher station he never believed possible. And yet it was exactly because of that he wanted to take advantage of this situation and seek a higher level before settling down.
Always up, up and up! Until there was nothing else above him besides his father.
Nevertheless, the Firstborn of Noah was not entirely sure of his decision. So taking advantage of the time his father allocated to them - knowing well he would be busy enough to allow such a thing again anytime soon he asked for advice.
His siblings listened carefully - Foxy looked at him as if he was a fool - while his father did not make any special facial expression.
"Is that what you truly think?" Foxy snapped. "What do you take women for? Objects that only cause distractions? With all your
admiration of father, haven't you learned the most important thing about who he is?"
"I don't admire and copy blindly." Premier replied calmly. "What works for Father might not - and probably would not work for me. I know myself. Yet I acknowledge father's uniqueness even more."
"So you don't intend to seek a wife, rejecting anyone who wants to be with you, until you have achieved a level where you will be satisfied to finally settle down?" Foxy asked incredulously.
"That's the plan." Premier nodded.
"And at what stage of power would that be?"
"Ah, well," Premier scratched his jaw nervously at that question. "I don't know yet. But I will probably know when the time comes."
The daughters of Noah spared a glance befitting a fool at their own brother. Premier's lips twitched, not understanding why they were reacting like this.
Inside his mind, he was right to do this. He didn't want to bother a woman, knowing well he would be focused on getting stronger and better. He would not give her the attention she deserved, especially if he wished to have more than one wife.
So in all accounts, waiting was the best option for him, or even for both of them.
Foxy understood the thought process of her brother very well. That's why she instead turned back to her father, who was listening calmly with an amused smile on his face.
"You better educate your son, father." Foxy said, not willing to waste her efforts on Premier.
"Hahah. You are not so wrong, Premier." Noah said, lifting his head upward, admiring the pale sky with drifting clouds.
He seemed to have seen for a brief instant the smiling face of Laeh - his little sister wished to see him, but probably wanted to give him
time with his children.
He smiled gratefully, then continued his words towards his son.
"If you are not ready, there is no point in taking away the time, attention, feelings and devotion of a woman you will not treat rightly." Premier nodded, looking at Foxy in a way that screamed "Told you!! Foxy rolled her eyes.
"But that's also a hidden trap." Noah added. "Rare are those times when you completely feel ready. In fact, you will never be ready. Not when it comes to committing yourself in a relationship. There are so many things at play, and there are always - always - things you can work on in yourself to get even more ready. Evolution and betterment
of yourself are unending."
"So the question here is not if you are at the level you want to be - ready, in short before choosing a woman."
He shifted slowly his head towards him, his mismatched eyes boring
deep within his son's red ones.
"The question is if you are willing to lose a part of your own self to create something bigger with another, and grow with her until you two reach the level you wish. Together!"
He smiled.
"But that's only possible if you love someone enough to do that."
"Why should I lose a part of me to be with someone?"
"That's how things work." Noah shrugged. "You cannot take everything of you in a relationship. You must sometimes be willing to let things go, and accept and do things you don't enjoy all because your partner does. In the same way, she will do the same. It's a relationship, it's two people trying to be one. And in such a case, of course, sacrifices must
be made."
"Is it worth it?" Premier inquired with furrowed brows.
"That's what you need to decide." Noah grinned. "Is it worth it? You
will find out the answer when you meet the one. Until then, dear son, live just as you are, but get ready if you wish to live such a life. And it starts by being aware of the costs."
Premier nodded gingerly. Not only him, even Foxy, Destiny and Fated nodded, finding in the words of their father advice for all of them.
Not all of them thought that love was their thing. But this was not only applicable to love, they realized, but to all types of relationships. Even a friendship required a certain level of sacrifice. It could be something as simple as going out when all you wished was to stay in your bed all day.
It seemed simple, but it could decide how long a friendship would
last.
So they listened to their father imparting to them knowledge he acquired after trials, errors and failures.
Time passed swiftly, father and children discussing calmly, until Noah
smoothly shifted the subject to another where he could brag to his children about the greatness of their father:
"Now why should I tell you about my stay in Spirit World, and what
bloodline you will soon acquire?"
And so, Noah continued his leisure time with his children, while his
wives began their advancement quest without delay.
Hard times, after all, were not ever.
