Chapter 105: My Dad is the Town Mayor

Chapter 105: My Dad is the Town Mayor

Upon hearing Jiang Feng’s words, Brother Xiong personally drove them.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the hospital where Hu Ya’s father was located. Brother Xiong rushed to negotiate with the hospital staff while Jiang Feng directly entered the ward with Hu Ya.

In just a few days of not seeing each other, Hu Ya’s father had lost a significant amount of weight, nearly unrecognizable. His body was covered in various medical instruments, making for a shocking sight.

Even though Jiang Feng had a resilient character, seeing this scene made his heart ache. If it weren’t for him, Hu Ya’s father wouldn’t have to suffer such torment. He hadn’t killed anyone directly, but because of him, Hu Ya’s father had ended up like this.

At that moment, Jiang Feng’s resolve for revenge grew even stronger.

After arranging for Hu Ya’s father to be moved to a single patient room, Jiang Feng asked everyone to leave and began working on saving him. It wasn’t that he looked down on the hospital’s treatment methods; it was just that they were too time-consuming and labor-intensive. In the end, Hu Ya’s father’s recovery would take a long time as well—an undeniable burden for a poor family.

Having broken through to the third layer of body refinement, Jiang Feng skillfully applied the Nine Yang Needle Technique. In just about ten minutes, he managed to dissolve the blood clots in Hu Ya’s father’s brain while simultaneously turning him over and gently patting his back several times. Accompanied by some retching sounds, Hu Ya’s father spat out several mouthfuls of congealed blood.

Jiang Feng wiped away the blood at the corners of his mouth and helped him lie back down before taking out a piece of thousand-year-old ginseng he had brought along and cutting off a slice for Hu Ya’s father to hold in his mouth.

After doing all this, Jiang Feng pushed open the door and walked out.

“Hu Ya,” Jiang Feng said to him, “tell the hospital that there’s no need for surgery anymore. Just ask them to keep observing closely and make sure he gets enough nutrition; you don’t need to worry about money—I’ll arrange everything.”

“No need for surgery?” Hu Ya was taken aback and asked nervously about his dad.

“He’s fine now; he can be discharged after resting for a while,” Jiang Feng replied calmly.

“Really?” Hu Ya couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

The hospital had told him that due to his father’s age there were significant risks associated with surgery and they needed several days of observation before deciding whether or not surgery would be necessary. Little did they know that once Jiang Feng arrived, all problems could be resolved so easily.

This left Hu Ya reflecting on how karma works; not long ago both he and his father saved Jiang Feng from danger—and now here was Jiang Feng saving his dad in return. Without Jiang Feng’s intervention, it was hard for him to imagine what kind of ending they would have faced otherwise.

Jiang Feng nodded at Brother Xiong and said: “Come with me.”

Brother Xiong understood what Jiang Feng meant without needing further explanation; without hesitation he followed suit as they headed outside. Seeing this unfold made Hu Ya hesitate momentarily before saying: “Master! I want to go with you!”

“No! You stay here with your dad; don’t worry—everything will be fine,” insisted Jiang Feng firmly.

“But…” Hu Ya wanted to argue further but stopped short when he saw the stern look on Jiang Feng’s face: “Listen to me.”

Feeling intimidated by his tone made it clear there would be no arguing further; thus he quickly nodded in agreement.Jiang Feng didn’t say anything more as he led Brother Xiong away from there. Soon after being gathered by Brother Xiong’s call-up signal four vans rumbled towards Baishan Village.

Jiang Feng sat silently in the van. The reason he didn’t let Hu Ya come with him was because he was an outsider, while Hu Ya was a local.

Hu Ya and his father would have to live on this land in the future. Offending the local official would make their lives incredibly difficult.

Having him and Brother Xiong’s men handle the matter would make things much simpler. Brother Xiong’s success in Baishan City was undoubtedly due to his connections, which Jiang Feng wouldn’t concern himself with. However, dealing with a mere town head was a piece of cake for him.

As dusk fell, four vehicles roared into Baishan Village.

Baishan Village was geographically remote and difficult to access. With the snow falling, aside from ginseng merchants, few outsiders ventured into the village during winter.

The villagers saw the convoy and rushed out of their homes.

Jiang Feng, sitting in the car, glanced around and suddenly felt that a figure in the distance looked somewhat familiar. However, just as he wanted to get a clearer look, that person had already walked far away.

Jiang Feng thought it was just an illusion and didn’t think much of it. He withdrew his gaze and said to Brother Xiong, “I’m leaving this to you.”

Brother Xiong revealed a mouthful of yellow teeth and said ominously, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure it’s done beautifully.” Saying that, he got out of the car and waved his hand, leading more than twenty people away quickly.

About ten minutes later, Brother Xiong returned with his men. He knocked on the car window, prompting Jiang Feng to get out of the car.

“Did you find out what happened?” Jiang Feng asked.

“I found out,” Brother Xiong nodded and replied. “We were lucky; when we got there, these two guys were drinking heavily. Just at that moment, they were caught red-handed. You see that fat man? His name is Shi Qianjin; he’s the one who buys mountain ginseng. The skinny one is called Pi Zhigao; he’s the town mayor’s son. Shi Qianjin looks decent but is actually very timid; as soon as he saw us, he knew things were bad. Without us even having to pressure him, he spilled everything right away. Just as you predicted, Brother Jiang—this information was deliberately leaked by Shi Qianjin himself; he’s in cahoots with Pi Zhigao. I’ve brought them both here.”

As he spoke, Brother Xiong pointed behind him at the two men who had been brought over—one fat and one thin—who looked quite disheveled from their journey.

The younger man appeared to be in his twenties with a typical northern appearance; perhaps due to never encountering such a situation before, he kept shivering while angrily shouting: “How dare you! Who are you people? Do you know who I am? I won’t let you off!”

“Hey now! You’re young but have quite an attitude! Go ahead then—how do you plan on not letting us go?” Brother Xiong casually slapped Pi Zhigao across the face while speaking sarcastically.

Pi Zhigao was stunned by Brother Xiong’s slap and immediately yelled back: “You b@stard! How dare you hit me? My dad is the town mayor!”

“The mayor? Well damn! I’m practically related to your father!” Brother Xiong kicked Pi Zhigao down onto his knees without hesitation.

Kneeling on the ground, Pi Zhigao howled in agony like a ghost crying for vengeance. Every time he’d mentioned his father’s name before this moment had always worked wonders for him; yet now faced with someone who clearly didn’t care about his father at all—a true tough guy—he hurriedly said: “What do you want? Is it money? I have money—lots of it! If you let me go, I can give you a huge sum!”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Feng laughed lightly and asked nonchalantly: “How much do you have?”

“Ten thousand… no wait—a million… if that’s too little then two million will do! But I’ll need some time; just let me go first—I promise I won’t shortchange you!” Pi Zhigao panted nervously.

“Two million really isn’t small,” Jiang Feng mused darkly. If Pi Zhigao could come up with two million for himself then surely his family must have assets worth at least ten million or more; otherwise they wouldn’t be able to produce that amount in cash so easily.

A mere town mayor could pull together two million?! That was hard to believe!

Brother Xiong also hadn’t expected such wealth from someone like him—it wasn’t exactly pocket change even for him!

Lowering his voice towards Jiang Feng he suggested: “Brother Jiang… what do you think?”

“We want both money and blood,” Jiang Feng frowned as he replied.

Brother Xiong chuckled slyly; he’d already been contemplating blackmailing them but dared not act without Jiang Feng’s approval. He turned directly to Pi Zhigao saying: “Kiddo! Where are we going for this money?”

“In the town, in the town.” Pi Zhigao thought he had saved his life and spoke eagerly, but a glint of malice flashed in his eyes. He didn’t care who these people were; once they entered the town, they were on his turf. He would make sure they couldn’t live or die as they wished.

Jiang Feng noticed Pi Zhigao’s reaction but didn’t take it to heart. Instead, he turned to Shi Qianjin, who suddenly knelt down with a thud, repeatedly bowing his head and saying, “Brother, I was wrong! I truly made a mistake! I’ll pay you back; I’ll compensate you for everything! Just let me go!”

Jiang Feng was too lazy to talk to him and directly told Brother Xiong, “Break both of his legs; I won’t concern myself with anything else.”

Brother Xiong knew he had hit the jackpot this time. Shi Qianjin was in the medicinal materials business and surely wasn’t short on money. Jiang Feng only mentioned breaking Shi Qianjin’s legs while leaving everything else up to him—naturally, that meant he’d have to find a way to profit from it.

Even though this might cause some trouble, a small businessman and the son of a town mayor could only bully others in small places; before him, they were nothing at all.

Brother Xiong waved over Shan Ji and whispered a few instructions. Shan Ji immediately called for people to grab Pi Zhigao and Shi Qianjin and put them into a van before speeding away.

“Brother Jiang, shouldn’t we head back now?” Brother Xiong said at this moment.

“You guys go ahead; I still have some matters to attend to,” Jiang Feng replied. He recalled the shadow he had seen earlier and always felt an unshakable sense of familiarity about it. He planned to follow it and see what was going on.

Brother Xiong didn’t say much more and signaled for everyone else to leave while Jiang Feng swiftly moved towards where he had seen that shadow disappear.

Snowflakes began falling from the sky without anyone noticing—large snowflakes like goose feathers drifted down from above, weaving together an extraordinarily beautiful scene across the desolate land.

However, Jiang Feng didn’t have time to admire it. After leaving Baishan Village, he quickened his pace and plunged directly into the snowy expanse, continuously running faster.

Not knowing how far he had gone, all that met his eyes was white upon white. Jiang Feng intended to give up; trying to find someone in this vast sea of snow was akin to searching for a needle in a haystack—and he wasn’t even sure if that fleeting figure earlier had been human at all.

Just as Jiang Feng was about to turn back, suddenly something caught his eye: amidst the endless snowfield lay something moving—it seemed like a person struggling to get up from under the snow. However, just as they managed to rise slightly, they fell back down again without making another sound.

Jiang Feng’s heart stirred as he walked over directly.

Getting closer revealed that it indeed was a person wrapped tightly in an oversized white cotton coat matching the color of the snow—if one didn’t look closely enough, they wouldn’t notice them at all.

Jiang Feng approached and lifted her up; feeling her wrist pulse confirmed she still had breath left—albeit very faintly—as she would soon freeze if not rescued quickly here.

At that moment, Jiang Feng finally got a clear look at the person in his arms—a sudden shock coursed through him when he recognized her: Ye Qingxuan?

It turned out to be her!
