Chapter 106: For Her, He Became Haggard
Chapter 106: For Her, He Became Haggard
When Jiang Feng returned to the villa, it was already midnight.
Brother Xiong was waiting for him in the living room. Upon seeing Jiang Feng come back, he hurried over to talk about today’s harvest, but before he could say anything, he noticed that Jiang Feng was holding a woman in his arms.
Brother Xiong was momentarily stunned, unsure of what was happening, but still managed to say, “Brother Jiang, should I call a doctor?”
“No need. Just have someone heat up some water and clean the bathtub; I’ll need it soon,” Jiang Feng replied.
He himself was the best doctor and knew exactly what to do; there was no need to call anyone else. He immediately carried Ye Qingxuan upstairs.
Brother Xiong watched Jiang Feng leave with confusion. He wondered how Jiang Feng had gone out and brought back such a beautiful woman.
The woman curled up in Jiang Feng’s embrace caught Brother Xiong’s eye for just a moment; he only saw part of her profile and didn’t get a clear look at her face. However, even that brief glance left him awestruck.
Despite her pale complexion and haggard appearance, Brother Xiong could swear he had never seen such a beautiful woman in his life. Even if he turned all of Baishan upside down, he would never find another woman with such grace.
Not daring to hesitate, Brother Xiong quickly instructed a middle-aged woman to boil water and scrub the bathtub.
Jiang Feng spread out the comforter and placed Ye Qingxuan on the bed. Standing beside her for a few moments, he sighed softly.
To be honest, when he first saw Ye Qingxuan in the snow, he was shocked because he had never imagined she would come to such a place—or rather that she shouldn’t have been here at all.
Ye Qingxuan looked like someone who wasn’t here for leisure; aside from having an abnormally low body temperature, she appeared extremely weak—her lips were cracked as if she hadn’t had food or water for quite some time.
A girl like Ye Qingxuan should always be surrounded by admirers wherever she went; it seemed impossible for her to end up in such dire straits. Yet here she was—what could have brought her here?
Was she looking for someone? If so, who?
After thinking briefly, Jiang Feng realized that Ye Qingxuan likely came looking for him. Given that both the Qin family and Li family had been searching for him lately, it made sense that Ye Qingxuan might know something about his whereabouts and traveled all the way from Yanjing just to find him.
However, Jiang Feng felt there was no need for her to go through this trouble because although what happened during Old Master Qin’s eightieth birthday party disgusted him immensely—he didn’t harbor any resentment towards Ye Qingxuan because of it.
For others, the Qin family seemed unshakable; however for him personally? They were not worth much concern at all. Through Ye Qingxuan seeking him out at Yanjing University to apologize—Jiang Feng understood there must be some stubbornness within her character; after all, she pursued perfection and wouldn’t allow any flaws in life.
Perhaps that’s why she came out of Beijing looking for him—but even if they met again… then what?
What else could she do besides apologizing once more? Not mentioning that with Ye Qingxuan’s abilities alone—it would be impossible for her to bring him back to Yanjing. Even if somehow she’d made concessions allowing him return—life back there wouldn’t likely be easy either; short-term plans definitely did not include returning anytime soon.Jiang Feng didn’t dwell on these thoughts too much as he gently peeled off Ye Qingxuan’s outer coat. Her perfect figure gradually came into view before his eyes; only then did he realize how thin she really was—almost like a paper doll.
“She must have suffered quite a bit during this trip,” Jiang Feng thought inwardly as his eyes remained respectful while his hands moved swiftly—he directly removed all of Ye Qingxuan’s clothing before grabbing a blanket to cover critical parts of her body.
At the same time, Jiang Feng grabbed a silver needle from the bedside and, with a dazzling speed, pierced several major acupoints on Ye Qingxuan’s back one by one. Ye Qingxuan was currently suffering from cold Qi invading her body; fortunately, the cold hadn’t yet penetrated her internal organs, so the situation wasn’t too troublesome. His primary task was to expel the cold Qi within her body.
Forty-nine silver needles were inserted into Ye Qingxuan’s back in just over ten seconds. After a few breaths, her breathing gradually became heavy, and beads of sweat began to emerge on her smooth back. Jiang Feng stood nearby without daring to relax, closely monitoring Ye Qingxuan’s reactions. After about three minutes, he quickly withdrew the needles and wrapped Ye Qingxuan in a blanket before carrying her into the bathroom.
He filled the bathtub with hot water and submerged Ye Qingxuan in it while supporting her back with one hand. He continuously tapped on some key acupoints until the hot water in the tub cooled down. Only then did Jiang Feng let out a slight sigh of relief as he carried Ye Qingxuan back into the bedroom.
Throughout this process, Ye Qingxuan remained in a state of sleep; however, under his stimulation, her bodily functions had gradually begun to return to normal. Jiang Feng sliced a piece of ginseng for Ye Qingxuan to hold in her mouth before leaving the room.

Ye Qingxuan felt as though she had been dreaming. The world in her dream was starkly white; wherever she looked, it was nothing but snow—a desolate scene.
The overwhelming desolation made her feel as if she had been abandoned by everyone in the world; anxiety consumed her as she quickened her pace forward, hoping to reach somewhere with people. As she ran through that boundless snowstorm, suddenly it transformed into a monstrous white creature with sharp fangs that lunged at her and engulfed her instantly as if wanting to swallow her whole.
As death approached, an instinctive scream escaped from Ye Qingxuan’s lips amidst panic; at that moment, she abruptly opened her eyes.
However, she didn’t hear any sound coming from herself which left Ye Qingxuan feeling even more oppressed. She widened her eyes as much as possible and slowly turned around to look around herself—trying to see where she currently was.
But no matter how wide she opened them, everything around was pitch black; nothing could be seen.
Her heart raced uncontrollably at this moment. With somewhat stiff fingers fumbling around aimlessly until they touched thick blankets—only then did Ye Qingxuan breathe a sigh of relief.
She realized that someone must have saved her; otherwise she’d still be out there on that snowy plain where the biting cold made it feel like she’d never wake up from this nightmare.
Fortunately at this moment—the dream finally ended.
This made Ye Qingxuan feel somewhat fortunate but also understand that she had been too reckless. Although she was anxious to find Jiang Feng if not for being rescued by someone else—she probably would have died before finding him.
After calming herself down slightly, Ye Qingxuan blinked and tried to see clearly what kind of place she was in but still saw nothing at all.
“Is it just dark because there’s no light?” Ye Qingxuan murmured softly while instinctively tightening the corners of the blanket so as not to feel so helpless and anxious anymore.
She still couldn’t make any sound but due to focusing too intensely at that moment—she didn’t notice anything unusual about herself either. However,Jiang Feng didn’t linger on that thought long;he frowned upon noticing that something seemed off about ye qing xua n’ s pupils—they weren’t focused, which left him feeling slightly puzzled.
The cold wind blew in through the crack of the door, causing Ye Qingxuan to shiver. She turned her head to look at the direction from which the wind was blowing, stared for a while, then lowered her head again, appearing deep in thought.
Jiang Feng felt a sudden jolt in his heart because that glance from Ye Qingxuan was directed at him. However, even after looking for some time, it seemed as if she hadn’t seen anything at all and showed no reaction.
“Is there something wrong with her eyes?” Jiang Feng thought to himself. But he quickly understood; it must be that Ye Qingxuan had stayed too long in the snow without taking any protective measures and was experiencing symptoms of snow blindness.
Jiang Feng knew a little about snow blindness; he understood it was just temporary vision loss. As long as one tried to avoid prolonged exposure to snowy conditions in the future, there wouldn’t be any significant aftereffects. After a few days, she would gradually recover.
Jiang Feng slowly walked inside. When Ye Qingxuan heard his footsteps, she suddenly raised her head and exclaimed, “Who?”
Jiang Feng couldn’t hear what came out of Ye Qingxuan’s throat, but from her lip movements, he understood what she was saying. He let out a soft wry smile; indeed, besides suffering from snow blindness, Ye Qingxuan’s throat had also been damaged by the cold.
Even though he had treated her last night, it seemed that for now she wouldn’t be able to speak.
Seeing panic appear on Ye Qingxuan’s face made Jiang Feng realize that she might have been frightened by him. He hurried over to the bedside and whispered softly, “It’s me, Jiang Feng.”
“Jiang Feng? Is that you?” Upon hearing his voice, Ye Qingxuan’s pupils slightly constricted as her soft little hand reached out toward him. Jiang Feng extended his hand for her to grasp.
But soon after, Ye Qingxuan withdrew her hand back and began nervously touching her eyes and throat while trembling all over.
Jiang Feng sighed softly and said gently: “You’re fine now; it’s just that you might not be able to see or speak for a few days—but you’ll get better soon.” He tried to keep his voice gentle so as not to shock Ye Qingxuan too much; however, upon hearing this reassurance, she trembled even more violently,
clutching tightly onto the blanket around her frail body with wide eyes staring blankly at him—though she still couldn’t see anything clearly yet those eyes were widening more and more.
After a minute passed, Ye Qingxuan’s fingers trembled as they reached out again towards Jiang Feng. Her throat quivered as she asked softly: “Jiang Feng… can I touch your face?”
Jiang Feng had never seen this side of Ye Qingxuan before; he wasn’t sure if someone with such pride could accept such a blow but chose not to say much instead slowly bent down.
One of Ye Qingxuan’s fingers gradually touched Jiang Feng’s face as she felt his warm breath against her skin. In an instant both hands quickly cupped Jiang Feng’s face—and tears flowed freely!
