Chapter 77: The Woman Who Came Knocking

Chapter 77: The Woman Who Came Knocking

“Yuan Lang, please be honest and tell me, what exactly is going on between Jiang Feng and Liu Hong?” In the teacher’s office of Yanjing University, Ji Yan asked Yuan Lang with a serious expression on her face.

Since Ji Yan had met Jiang Feng a few days ago at school and realized that he had likely saved her that night, allowing her to escape danger, she had been feeling conflicted and uneasy. Additionally, she was worried about the things Jiang Feng had done. Jiang Feng had injured Li Yuanjue and Chang Shan and was wanted by the police. Although he had gone a bit overboard, it was all to save her. Ji Yan couldn’t even bear to think about what would happen if Jiang Feng were caught by the police.

In her turmoil, she recalled that day when she had spoken to Jiang Feng. As he was leaving the classroom, a boy named Yuan Lang had mentioned that he knew about the situation between Jiang Feng and Liu Hong. So, she planned to have a talk with Yuan Lang. However, Yuan Lang had taken two days off and was unavailable. Today, he returned to school, and Ji Yan immediately called him out from the classroom, determined to clarify the matter.

Seeing Ji Yan’s serious demeanor, Yuan Lang shrugged with a wry smile and said, “Teacher Ji, I told you several days ago that things aren’t as you heard. You didn’t believe me then, but now you know you were wrong, right?”

Ji Yan’s face flushed slightly, and her tone softened a bit as she said, “Just tell me everything you know.”

Yuan Lang had a decent impression of Jiang Feng. Although Jiang Feng was always cold and aloof, he was quite generous when it came to helping others, making Yuan Lang feel he was a friend worth having. So, he recounted everything he knew in detail.

After listening, Ji Yan was left in shock. The truth of the matter was completely different from what she had heard. It wasn’t Jiang Feng who was entangled with Liu Hong; rather, it was Liu Hong who, after failing to pursue Jiang Feng, intentionally spread rumors to tarnish his reputation.

This revelation left her pale. How could Liu Hong be so scheming? She had foolishly criticized Jiang Feng from the perspective of women being the weaker party. Now, looking back, Jiang Feng’s impatience at that time was probably just him watching her make a fool of herself.

With a soft sigh, Ji Yan said, “Alright, I understand. You can go back to class now.”

Yuan Lang stood up, hesitated for a moment, and said, “Teacher Ji, there’s one more thing. I don’t know if you’ve heard about it yet?”

“What is it?” Ji Yan asked, puzzled.

Yuan Lang smiled and said, “It’s nothing much, just that I heard someone say today that Jiang Feng’s girlfriend is Ye Qingxuan, and it seems to be public knowledge. If you haven’t heard, then forget it. I just thought I’d mention it.”

Even after Yuan Lang left the office, Ji Yan remained in a state of extreme shock, unable to pull herself together. Was it true or false that Ye Qingxuan was Jiang Feng’s girlfriend?

Ji Yan had indeed heard of Ye Qingxuan and knew she was known as the most beautiful woman in Yanjing. If Ye Qingxuan really was Jiang Feng’s girlfriend, then the claim that Jiang Feng was entangled with Liu Hong would be a huge joke. Although Liu Hong was decent, compared to Ye Qingxuan, she was simply worlds apart. To put it bluntly, in terms of looks and family background, Liu Hong wasn’t even worthy to carry Ye Qingxuan’s shoes.

This news made Ji Yan feel extremely uncomfortable, not because of Jiang Feng and Ye Qingxuan’s relationship, but because she had unintentionally made a huge fool of herself.

Ji Yan stayed alone in the office for a while, feeling increasingly uneasy. She took out her phone and found Jiang Feng’s number, intending to call him to apologize. After hesitating for a moment, she decided to go to the Jiang Family to find Jiang Feng in person.

Ji Yan felt that in this matter regarding Liu Hong, she had indeed been too rash, biased, and had misunderstood Jiang Feng. This was her fault, and she could not avoid it. Even if Jiang Feng did not care about such things, she still had to show her own attitude. Not to mention that Jiang Feng had saved her once; she had even more reason to hold herself to a higher standard. Although as a teacher, apologizing to her student might seem a bit embarrassing, she was not the kind of rigid person. She had indeed made a mistake in this situation, and it was only right for her to apologize to Jiang Feng.

At this moment, Ji Yan also realized one thing: if Jiang Feng truly did not want to return to the classroom, she could no longer force him. Everyone had different pursuits, and as a teacher, while she sincerely hoped that every student would be diligent and ambitious, not every student could carve out their own path through education. The roads in this world are all forged by individuals themselves. Since Jiang Feng had his own aspirations, even if she couldn’t fully agree, she could not forcibly intervene in his life.

University was different from high school, which had parent-teacher meetings and home visits. Although Ji Yan had all the personal and family information of her students, it was her first time visiting the Jiang Family. Driving her little red Polo to the villa complex where the Jiang Family lived, she was still shocked by the expanse of luxurious villas, despite having mentally prepared herself and knowing that Jiang Feng’s family background was certainly not ordinary. It left her speechless for a long time.

At the large iron gate on the outskirts, Ji Yan was stopped by the security guard. After confirming her identity, the guard asked her to wait a moment to notify someone inside. Ji Yan didn’t mind this; not to mention anything else, just the fact that in the precious land of Beijing, owning such a large area of villas indicated the Jiang Family’s profound heritage. Such a place was definitely not somewhere just anyone could enter.

This made Ji Yan feel that some of the things she had said to Jiang Feng in the past were somewhat laughable. Although she had genuinely hoped for Jiang Feng to be proactive and not waste his youth from a teacher’s perspective, with a family like this, Jiang Feng could probably live comfortably for the rest of his life even if he did nothing.

Just as the guard was about to make a phone call, a red Ferrari drove up. The guard hurried over to stop the car and exchanged a few words. Inside the car were none other than Jiang Hao and Jiang Ping, the two brothers. Jiang Hao, hearing that someone had come to visit, casually asked about it. He didn’t care much for such matters, as the Jiang Family had guests visiting all the time, bringing gifts and dealing with business, so he was already used to it.

After listening for a moment, Jiang Hao impatiently told the guard to send the person away, as he had no interest in dealing with such trivial matters. The guard, hearing Jiang Hao say this, didn’t dare to say much more. He went over to Ji Yan and said a few words. Upon hearing this, Ji Yan felt a bit helpless; had she known, she wouldn’t have come here so recklessly and should have called Jiang Feng first. Now, she had ended up getting the cold shoulder.

Ji Yan let out a bitter laugh and took out her phone to call Jiang Feng, only to find that it was turned off, which made her feel even more helpless. Just as she was about to get in her car and leave, Jiang Hao’s Ferrari drove out from inside.

“Look, there’s a beautiful girl over there; she seems pretty good,” Jiang Ping said, his sharp eyes spotting Ji Yan first and grinning. Jiang Hao glanced over, first noticing the red Polo and letting out a cold snort. But when he saw Ji Yan, his eyes lit up, and he stopped the car beside her.

Lowering the car window, Jiang Hao revealed what he thought was his most charming smile and said, “This beautiful lady, is there anything I can help you with?”

“Are you from the Jiang Family?” Ji Yan asked, having seen the Ferrari come out from within the Jiang Family.

Jiang Hao smiled and said, “I am Jiang Hao. May I ask what the beautiful lady wishes to inquire about?”

Ji Yan listened to Jiang Hao mention the Jiang surname and immediately realized he was from the Jiang Family. Her eyes lit up, and she smiled, saying, “Is Jiang Feng around? I’m looking for Jiang Feng.”

“Looking for Jiang Feng?” Jiang Hao’s expression instantly darkened. Due to the events that transpired at Old Master Qin’s birthday banquet, Jiang Hao was determined to make Jiang Feng look foolish today, ideally even driving him out of the Jiang Family. Little did he know that Jiang Feng was so arrogant and lawless that it ended up being him and Jiang Jingyun who lost face.

At that moment, Jiang Hao was holding back his anger, planning to find a place to drink and vent with a couple of women. When he saw a beautiful woman arriving, he thought his luck was finally turning around and began to consider how to charm her. However, upon hearing Ji Yan was looking for Jiang Feng, his expression soured.

“What do you want with him?” Jiang Hao asked coldly. His attitude puzzled Ji Yan, but she still replied, “I have something to discuss with him. If it’s convenient, could you please pass on the message?”

“No need to pass on anything; Jiang Feng is dead!” Jiang Hao sneered maliciously. Ji Yan was stunned, and she could clearly sense Jiang Hao’s hostility. She carefully recalled what she had just said, confirming that she hadn’t been offensive in any way, leaving her quite confused.

Just then, Jiang Ping, sitting in the passenger seat, got out of the car with a smile, saying, “Beautiful lady, don’t listen to his nonsense. He’s just in a bad mood; please don’t take it to heart.” While speaking, he subtly signaled to Jiang Hao. Upon seeing Jiang Ping’s look, Jiang Hao immediately understood and got out of the car, saying, “Sorry, sorry! I really am in a bad mood today and didn’t mean to offend you.”

Seeing Ji Yan looking at him with a puzzled expression, Jiang Hao continued, “You said you were looking for Jiang Feng, right? He’s not home right now, but I know where he is. I happen to have something to discuss with him as well; how about we take you there?”

“Actually, it’s fine. I’ll come back another time,” Ji Yan replied. The strange behavior of the two made her uneasy. Although she felt a bit frustrated for not finding Jiang Feng, she decided to decline their “kind offer.”

Jiang Ping smiled, “It’s no problem; it’s on the way. Let’s go together.” He reached out to grab Ji Yan’s arm, but she stepped back, subtly avoiding his hand, and said, “Really, it’s fine. Thank you, but I have to go.”

“Hey, beautiful, don’t be in such a hurry. Since you’re here, how can you leave without meeting anyone? If this gets out, people will say our Jiang Family doesn’t treat guests well,” Jiang Hao said, a glint of malice flashing in his eyes as he reached out toward Ji Yan.

Since Ji Yan had mentioned she was looking for Jiang Feng, although he wasn’t clear on their relationship, she must be someone who knew him. Having suffered a loss at Jiang Feng’s hands before, and unable to directly retaliate against him, he decided to take advantage of this woman who had come to him. There was no way he would let Ji Yan leave easily.

Feeling something was off, Ji Yan took two steps back, repeatedly saying, “Really, it’s fine. I just remembered I have something to do.”

“There’s no rush; it’s just a little while. Don’t worry, Jiang Feng is very close to here,” Jiang Ping and Jiang Hao exchanged glances, both with malicious intent as they closed in on Ji Yan.
