Chapter 78: Crisis Approaches
Chapter 78: Crisis Approaches
Ji Yan sensed something was off and immediately turned to run. However, after just two steps, she was stopped. Jiang Hao grinned and said, “Hey, beautiful, why are you running? If I have to chase you, it’ll take some effort, so why bother?”
“You—” Ji Yan’s face flushed with embarrassment as she anxiously asked, “What do you all want?”
“What do we want? Isn’t it obvious? I mean, beautiful, you don’t need to pretend in front of us. Since you’re willing to play with Jiang Feng, I’m sure you won’t mind playing with us too, right?” Jiang Hao said directly.
“You—” Ji Yan trembled with anger, unable to believe they viewed her in such a way.
Jiang Hao smiled lightly and continued, “Stop with the nonsense. How about this: whatever Jiang Feng offers you, we’ll give you double.” As he spoke, he didn’t give Ji Yan a chance to refuse and reached out toward her again.
Ji Yan never imagined such a thing would happen. Earlier, when she heard Jiang Hao mention he was from the Jiang Family, she thought they could help her meet Jiang Feng. But now, hearing Jiang Hao and Jiang Ping’s lewd remarks, she realized they were thinking of something vile. Seeing Jiang Hao reach out, she forcefully swung her bag at him, shouting angrily, “Stop right there, or I’ll call the police!”
“Call the police? Hey, I didn’t know you had some personality. What’s the deal? Jiang Feng can play, but we can’t?” Jiang Hao wasn’t worried about Ji Yan calling the police at all. Instead of stopping, he grew bolder and reached out to grab her.
Ji Yan screamed in fright and hurriedly turned to run, but Jiang Ping blocked her path, grinning at her with malicious intent. “Beautiful, I think you should save your energy. Come on. After my brothers are done having fun, you won’t be treated poorly.” He licked his lips lewdly as he spoke.
Ji Yan was so furious she couldn’t even speak, swinging her bag to hit Jiang Ping. Jiang Ping was infuriated by her attack and reached out to grab her hair, cursing, “Damn woman, you’re asking for it. Let’s see how I’ll have fun with you later.”
“Hey, isn’t that Young Master Ping?” Just then, a booming voice echoed like thunder.
Jiang Ping turned his head impatiently at the sound, and upon seeing the face, his expression changed. The hand reaching for Ji Yan’s hair unconsciously dropped as he exclaimed, “Guo Conghu, what are you doing here?”
“Why can’t it be me? You see me and immediately get scared?” Guo Conghu grinned.
Jiang Ping’s face turned cold as he sternly said, “Guo Conghu, what do you mean by that? Don’t think I’m afraid of you just because you can throw a few punches.”
“I don’t need you to be afraid of me; the less afraid you are, the more I like it.” Guo Conghu casually slapped Jiang Ping across the face.
Jiang Ping stumbled back two steps, his face filled with disbelief. Although he knew Guo Conghu had a typical reckless personality and was soft on the weak, he didn’t expect Guo Conghu to act without hesitation.
He touched his face, furious and embarrassed, and said, “Guo Conghu, you’re a damn lunatic. Try hitting me again if you dare.”
Guo Conghu looked at him like he was an idiot and slapped him again, smiling as he said, “I’ve seen people who deserve a beating, but I’ve never seen someone as deserving as you. Since you’re asking for it, I’d feel bad if I didn’t oblige.”
“—” Jiang Ping had just received two slaps and was instantly furious. Not to mention he had a naturally volatile temper; in this situation, even someone with a good temper would lose control. He turned and charged at Guo Conghu, ready to fight him to the death.
“Jiang Ping, calm down.” Jiang Hao reached out and pulled the raging Jiang Ping back, glancing at the Lotus sports car parked not far away. He was very familiar with that car; it was Chen Siran’s ride. With Guo Conghu here, Chen Siran must have come as well. This was the Jiang Family’s territory, and they had the confidence to not fear Guo Conghu, but if things fell into Chen Siran’s eyes, once it got out, the two of them would definitely gain no advantage.
Jiang Ping glared fiercely at Guo Conghu and looked at the Lotus sports car, speaking in a threatening tone, “Guo Conghu, today you’re lucky. Next time you fall into my hands, let’s see how I’ll make you suffer.”
“Oh, that’s an interesting statement. Don’t wait for next time; let’s do it now. I’m quite curious to see how you plan to make me suffer,” Guo Conghu said with a grin, rubbing his hands together, eager to try.
Jiang Hao didn’t want to escalate the situation; he knew that wouldn’t benefit him. But seeing Guo Conghu acting like a fool made him angry, and he shouted, “Guo Conghu, what do you mean? You better understand where this is! Do you really think my brother and I are easy to bully?”
“Heh, it’s nothing much. It’s just that I haven’t taught anyone a lesson in a while, and my hands are a bit itchy,” Guo Conghu sneered.
Jiang Hao’s expression darkened instantly. He took a deep breath and said, “Guo Conghu, today’s matter has nothing to do with you. You’d better not cross my bottom line.”
“I’m just a hothead. What’s your bottom line? Show it to me,” Guo Conghu coldly laughed, stepping forward and slapping Jiang Hao on the shoulder, lifting him up like an eagle grabbing a chick, and then casually throwing him several meters away. His gaze then fell on Jiang Ping, a sinister smile forming on his face.
Jiang Ping felt a chill run down his spine from Guo Conghu’s laugh. He awkwardly took a step back and said, “Guo Conghu, are you crazy?”
“I think it’s you two who are crazy, trying to forcefully take a woman in broad daylight. You’ve embarrassed the Jiang Family,” Guo Conghu said, and with a swift motion, he slapped Jiang Ping across the face, sending him crashing to the ground, blood streaming down his face.
Ji Yan didn’t expect things to take such a turn. Her tense heart relaxed slightly, and she hesitated whether to thank Guo Conghu. She had seen Guo Conghu once before in front of the library at Yanjing University, and because of Jiang Feng, she had a very poor impression of him. But this time, Guo Conghu had saved her; otherwise, if she had fallen into Jiang Hao and Jiang Ping’s hands today, she would definitely have faced humiliation.
Before she could say the words of thanks, her peripheral vision caught sight of the Lotus sports car door being pushed open by a hand, and then a woman stepped out from inside. The woman wore a white long dress, simple yet elegant, and under the brilliant sunlight, she resembled a quietly blooming lotus flower, devoid of any worldly air. Who else could it be but Chen Siran?
Upon seeing Chen Siran, Ji Yan was momentarily stunned, not expecting such a coincidence. She had been wondering how Guo Conghu had appeared out of nowhere; it seemed he must have come with Chen Siran.
Chen Siran walked over slowly, expressing concern, “Teacher Ji, it really is you! I thought I was mistaken.”
Ji Yan smiled wryly and said, “Siran, what brings you here?”
“I came to find Jiang Feng,” Chen Siran replied with a bright smile. “What about you, Teacher Ji? What are you doing here?”
“I came to find Jiang Feng,” Ji Yan sighed inwardly.
“You’re also here to find Jiang Feng?” Chen Siran’s expression changed slightly, becoming a bit strange. Due to *** reasons, Chen Siran hadn’t been in contact with Jiang Feng for a while, but the events that occurred at Old Master Qin’s birthday banquet last night left her both curious and shocked. After hesitating for a while, she ultimately couldn’t suppress her inner excitement and quietly stepped out.
However, she never expected that upon arriving at the Jiang Family, she would see Jiang Hao and Jiang Ping teasing Ji Yan. Instantly, her anger flared up, but Guo Conghu was even angrier than she was. Without waiting for her to speak, he got out of the car and gave the two of them a good scolding. Earlier, she had been puzzled about why Ji Yan was at the Jiang Family, but now hearing that Ji Yan was looking for Jiang Feng, and recalling the events that had transpired in front of the library at Yanjing University, she couldn’t help but suspect that Jiang Feng had gotten into trouble, prompting the teachers to come looking for him. Her expression turned slightly strange.
Seeing that Chen Siran’s reaction was a bit off, Ji Yan softly asked, “Siran, are you also here to find Jiang Feng?”
Chen Siran gently nodded. When Ji Yan saw that her guess was correct, her expression also became a bit strange. If Chen Siran going to the classroom to find Jiang Feng last time had already made her a bit curious, then this time Chen Siran coming to the Jiang Family to find Jiang Feng made her even more imaginative. She thought to herself that the relationship between Chen Siran and Jiang Feng was indeed unusual; otherwise, she wouldn’t be looking for him repeatedly.
But just as she thought about it, Ji Yan’s cheeks began to flush slightly because she suddenly realized that just as she had guessed Chen Siran’s reason for seeking Jiang Feng, Chen Siran might also be speculating about her purpose for being here. Although there was nothing particularly special between her and Jiang Feng, this realization made her feel a bit uncomfortable.
Isn’t a woman’s mind always this sensitive? Chen Siran was indeed thinking about why Ji Yan was looking for Jiang Feng, but her thoughts were quite different from Ji Yan’s. She didn’t notice that Ji Yan’s expression was a bit off and asked, “Teacher Ji, why don’t you go in to find Jiang Feng?”
“It seems Jiang Feng isn’t here,” Ji Yan replied.
“Oh, I see.” Chen Siran felt a bit disappointed. She had mustered up the courage to step out, risking being scolded by her brother, only to find that Jiang Feng wasn’t around.
Ji Yan didn’t know what to say. After hesitating for a moment, she softly said, “Siran, thank you for helping me earlier. Since Jiang Feng isn’t here, I should be going.”
“Teacher Ji, since we’ve run into each other, let me treat you to a cup of coffee,” Chen Siran said softly. If Jiang Feng really was in trouble, perhaps she could help plead for him.
Ji Yan didn’t expect Chen Siran to invite her and was slightly surprised, but she nodded gently.
******
Jiang Feng was unaware that just after he left the Jiang Family, Ji Yan and Chen Siran had come knocking. Due to a sudden incident at the company, Zhao Wuxia had driven him back to his rental apartment and then left. Jiang Feng went directly into the backyard, sitting cross-legged under the ginkgo tree to cultivate his Qi.
Time passed slowly, and when he heard the sound of cars coming from the front yard, Jiang Feng slowly opened his eyes. He thought it was Zhao Wuxia returning, but upon listening carefully, he realized something was off; more than one car had arrived. With a thought, he quickly left the backyard.
“Young Master Ming, right here, we’ve arrived,” three black sedans stopped in front of the rental apartment, and the driver turned to speak to the young man sitting in the back seat.
“What kind of rundown place is this? Are you sure that waste Jiang Feng lives here?” a young man in his twenties in the back seat asked impatiently.
This man had a slender face, and his features were unremarkable, but a large black mole on the side of his nose added an air of coldness and arrogance to his expression. As he spoke, his tone was filled with disdain.
“Yes, I’ve already checked; Jiang Feng lives here,” the person speaking seemed a bit intimidated by him and said cautiously.
“You better not be mistaken. Otherwise, if I can’t find him later, you’ll be the first one I won’t let off,” the young man snorted coldly, visibly displeased.
“Yes!” The man replied respectfully, getting out of the car and quickly running over to help open the rear door. A young man stepped out, glanced around the surroundings, and said, “Stop dawdling, push the door and go inside to take a look.” The man immediately pushed open the door, peered inside, and said, “There’s light; it seems Jiang Feng must be inside.” “Stop wasting time and find him,” the young man said darkly. “No need to look,” Jiang Feng slowly walked out of the room, speaking calmly. Hearing this sudden voice, the young man was startled, taking a step back. Once he steadied himself and saw it was Jiang Feng, he sneered coldly, “Jiang Feng, you really have some guts; knowing we were coming, you still dare to show yourself.”
