Chapter 90: The Mystery Woman
Chapter 90: The Mystery Woman
Just as Jiang Feng saw the woman, she also saw him instantly. Seemingly unsurprised by his presence, a contemptuous smirk slowly appeared on her lips, her large eyes flashing coldly as she stared at him.
Jiang Feng, seeing her gaze, knew perfectly well that the woman had misunderstood his intentions. He felt a headache coming on, but still went inside and said, “Boss, give me a bowl of beef noodles, a large one, and quickly!”
Five minutes later, Jiang Feng’s beef noodles arrived. Aside from some biscuits he’d eaten in the ancient tomb, he hadn’t eaten anything all day and was starving. He picked up his chopsticks and began to eat heartily.
The woman was also eating beef noodles, a small bowl. She ate slowly, her brow constantly furrowed, looking extremely uncomfortable. She ate little by little, as if trying to count how many strands of noodles and pieces of beef were in the bowl.
Most of the time, she was either picking at the cilantro in her bowl or scrutinizing Jiang Feng. Since he entered, her attention had been almost entirely focused on him, though she ate even more slowly.
Jiang Feng had a great appetite, devouring a large bowl of noodles in two minutes. He wiped his mouth, seemingly still wanting more, and said, “Boss, another bowl, please.”
The woman, seeing Jiang Feng eat, initially thought he was just putting on an act, deliberately trying to distract her so she wouldn’t think he was stalking her.
She felt even more contempt for him, and several times almost couldn’t resist smashing her bowl over his head.
But seeing him order a second bowl after finishing one made her confused. Was Jiang Feng really there to eat, and not stalking her?
But how could that be? If he really wanted to eat, why did they have to come to the same place? And they were practically right next to each other? This was clearly a classic case of protesting too much.
Thinking this, the woman let out a snort.
Jiang Feng heard the woman’s snort, smiled faintly, and then the second bowl of beef noodles was brought over. He buried his head in it and began to eat heartily.
The more Jiang Feng ate, the less the woman had any appetite. She simply threw down her chopsticks, refusing to eat another bite. She turned to the side, staring intently at Jiang Feng, wanting to see how long he could keep up the act. She didn’t believe he could eat a third bowl.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded from outside. Soon, four people entered. Leading the way was a young man in a white suit, his hair slicked back, his shoes spotless—a complete show-off.
However, the sweat on his forehead greatly diminished his “elegance,” and the fact that he entered such a small shop made him seem utterly out of place, drawing ridicule.
The young man swaggered in, glancing around before spotting the woman. His small eyes darted around, and a delighted smile spread across his face. He walked towards her, saying, “Little girl, I’ve finally found you! Isn’t this fate? You wanted to kill me? Well, I’m practically offering myself up for you to kill.”
Upon hearing this, the other three men behind him burst into laughter. The woman’s expression changed, and she said coldly, “Looks like the lesson from last time wasn’t enough, was it? I think you’re courting death.”
“That’s right, I already said I’m here to die. Go ahead and kill me,” the young man said with a grin, completely disregarding the woman’s attitude. As he spoke, he reached out and touched the woman’s face.
The other customers in the shop, witnessing the young man’s frivolous actions, were all indignant. However, they understood that these people dared to do such a thing so blatantly in front of so many people, clearly acting with impunity, and it was beyond their control. The kinder among them couldn’t bear to watch any longer.
Suddenly, a piercing scream, “Ah!” shattered their eardrums, rang out!
Everyone who heard the sound involuntarily looked towards its source, only to see a chopstick piercing straight through the young man’s palm.
Seeing this bloody scene, everyone in the shop paled, and gasps of shock rose and fell.
Jiang Feng frowned. Others might not have seen the woman’s actions, but he had seen them clearly. Just as the young man’s hand was about to touch the woman’s cheek, she suddenly moved, grabbed a chopstick from the table, and plunged it straight through the young man’s palm.
The beef noodle shop used disposable wooden chopsticks, which were easily broken and not considered sharp weapons. However, the woman’s attack was incredibly fast and precise, completing her actions almost instantly before the young man could react.
Jiang Feng glanced at the woman again. Initially, he thought she was just eccentric and hadn’t thought much of her, but this move made him realize she was no ordinary person. She might even be someone who had practiced ancient martial arts. Otherwise, even the strongest ordinary person would find it difficult to do something like this in such a rushed situation.
“Ah—” The young man’s eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the chopsticks stuck in his hand. He let out another scream, and instinctively raised his other hand to slap the woman across the face.
The woman let out a cold laugh and kicked him to the ground. The other three men who had come in with the young man, seeing the woman’s ferocity, changed their expressions and rushed forward. One of them grabbed a stool and smashed it over the woman’s head.
The woman tilted her head, dodging the stool, grabbed it, and smashed it down on the man’s head. He immediately saw stars and staggered to the ground.
Then, like a tiger descending a mountain, she swiftly and viciously dealt with the other two men.
The gasps from the customers in the shop grew louder. They had been worried about the woman, but they hadn’t expected her to be so ferocious.
Ignoring the shocked and astonished looks of the onlookers, the woman walked back to the young man, raised her foot, and stomped on his chest, coldly sneering, “What did you just say? You said you wanted me to kill you, didn’t you?”
“No…no…” The young man hadn’t expected the woman to be so ruthless. His face turned deathly pale, whether from fear or pain, it was hard to tell.
“No? Hmph, it’s too late to say that now.” The woman moved her foot from the young man’s chest towards his neck.
Jiang Feng understood that if that kick landed, the man would die instantly. He was slightly surprised, but it was none of his business, and he wouldn’t meddle.
Just then, the sound of police sirens blared outside. Hearing the sound, the woman’s delicate eyebrows furrowed again. She muttered something under her breath, kicked the young man to the ground, and quickly rushed out of the beef noodle shop.
The police arrived quickly, but that was none of Jiang Feng’s concern. He paid his bill and left the beef noodle shop. However, Jiang Feng didn’t expect that as soon as he returned to his small hotel, the woman appeared in front of him, blocking his way.
“I told you, you’d better not let me find out you have ulterior motives. It seems you didn’t listen to me carefully,” the woman said, looking at him with hostility.
Jiang Feng looked at her helplessly. This woman not only had an excessively high opinion of herself, but she also had paranoia; she was practically a lunatic.
“Which eye of yours saw me making advances towards you? If you want to fight, just do it. Stop talking nonsense in front of me,” Jiang Feng said coldly.
The woman smiled, revealing a surprising hint of allure, but her expression was even more sarcastic: “What, trying to show off your pathetic backbone in front of me…”
“Shut up!” Jiang Feng said impatiently.
“You—” The woman was shocked, perhaps not expecting Jiang Feng to dare to lose his temper with her.
Jiang Feng ignored her, simply shoving her aside and entering his room.
The woman stared blankly, forgetting how to react. She quickly stomped her foot angrily and shrieked, “You filthy man, unless you can hide in your room forever and never come out, I really will kill you!”
In the middle of the night, Jiang Feng’s eyes suddenly opened. Then, with a creak, the window of his room was pushed open from the outside, and a figure jumped in.
The figure leaped into the room, staggered a few steps, and groped towards the bedside. In the darkness, Jiang Feng couldn’t see the person clearly. He clenched his fist, about to punch them, when he heard a cough.
Jiang Feng’s expression turned slightly strange upon hearing the cough: “You’re injured.”
“I don’t need your pretense of being a good person.” Who else could it be but that crazy woman?
“I never said I was going to be a good person. This is my room. Please leave,” Jiang Feng said unhappily.
“I know this is your room. You don’t need to specifically remind me. Why are you being so petty, a grown man? Besides, I’m injured, and you still want to kick me out? Are you going to just let me die?” the woman said matter-of-factly.
She coughed a few more times, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Jiang Feng was speechless. This woman was far too arrogant. He coldly said, “Whether you live or die is none of my business. Get out of here before I lose my temper, or I’ll throw you out.”
“Hey, are you even being reasonable? Is it fun bullying a little woman like me? Go ahead and throw me out if you dare! I want to see how you’re going to do it!” the woman said angrily.
Jiang Feng was too lazy to argue with her. He grabbed her collar and headed towards the door. He’d only taken a few steps when he heard a noise outside the window, and a figure jumped in.
“Shui Qingqian, try to run away! I want to see where you can run to,” the figure in the room said with a sneer.
“Xu Zhikuan, you bastard! What kind of man attacks from behind? If you’ve got the guts, fight me fair and square! I’ll beat you to a pulp!” the woman screamed.
“Whether I’m a man or not is none of your business. Hand over the item, and we’ll call it even. Otherwise, hmph…” the man threatened.
“Pah! That thing isn’t yours. Why should I give it to you? Don’t think I’m easy to bully,” the woman said angrily.
“Whether it’s mine or not, you’ll soon find out.” The man named Xu Zhikuan walked over step by step, looking at Jiang Feng like he was already dead. Then he glanced at Jiang Feng again and said, “I don’t care who you are. This has nothing to do with you. Get out.”
“Are you talking to me?” Jiang Feng frowned.
“Is there anyone else here besides you?” Xu Zhikuan asked arrogantly.
“Indeed, there’s no one else. The one who needs to get out is you,” Jiang Feng said calmly.
He had no interest in who this woman named Shui Qingqian was, and he never intended to meddle in other people’s business. If Xu Zhikuan had politely asked him to leave, he might have left. But now, things weren’t so simple.
“It’s me? I’d like to see who’s the one who wants to get lost,” Xu Zhikuan said, grabbing Jiang Feng with one hand.
Jiang Feng casually slapped him away, striking Xu Zhikuan’s wrist, and said, “I’ll say it again, get out of here now, and I won’t kill you.”
Xu Zhikuan looked down at his throbbing hand, his expression changing slightly. He said coldly to Shui Qingqian, “The women of your Shui family always boast about how pure and virtuous they are. I didn’t expect you to find a lover so soon after you came out. You’ve really brought honor to your Shui family. Interesting, very interesting indeed.”
Shui Qingqian also looked at Jiang Feng strangely. She hadn’t expected Jiang Feng to have some skills. She had been injured and hid in Jiang Feng’s room, intending to escape Xu Zhikuan, but he had still chased after her, leaving her somewhat desperate.
Previously, when Xu Zhikuan said he was going to attack Jiang Feng, she didn’t stop him, because she didn’t care whether Jiang Feng lived or died. If Jiang Feng died at Xu Zhikuan’s hands, it would save her the trouble of doing it herself.
However, Jiang Feng actually withstood Xu Zhikuan’s attack, which surprised her. But Xu Zhikuan’s words made her expression change drastically, and she exclaimed, “Xu Zhikuan, what nonsense are you talking about? I don’t know him at all! Believe me, I’ll tear your mouth apart!”
“Don’t know him? Do you think I’m a three-year-old child?” Xu Zhikuan sneered, taking a step forward and throwing a punch at Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng didn’t understand what they were talking about, nor did he need to. Xu Zhikuan’s two attacks had already crossed his bottom line. Without any hesitation, he casually tossed Shui Qingqian aside and faced Xu Zhikuan.
Raising his wrist, he threw a punch at Xu Zhikuan.
After the punch, Jiang Feng staggered and took a step back, while Xu Zhikuan stumbled back three steps before barely regaining his footing, staring at Jiang Feng in disbelief.
If being stopped by Jiang Feng the first time was an accident, then this time, even after giving it his all, he was still repelled. Xu Zhikuan knew perfectly well that this was no accident.
“You’re a successor of ancient martial arts?” Xu Zhikuan asked in surprise.
“Enough nonsense, fight if you want,” Jiang Feng said coldly.
Xu Zhikuan ignored him and continued, “Who exactly are you?”
“The one who will kill you!” Jiang Feng, too lazy to waste words, attacked directly.
