267 Chapter 267- Trust

267: Chapter 267- Trust 267: Chapter 267- Trust Kaya stood there, rooted in her place as the footage ended and the screen returned to the reporter who started saying some gibberish that Kaya couldn’t hear.

Her ears were still ringing with the words Mikayla said to her.

She couldn’t process them at all and yet they kept repeating in her head like a broken record.

At some point, tears welled up in her eyes as she started feeling her heart race.

Her mouth opened and closed as she tried to speak, only to stop and feel her throat clogged and painful.

For some reason, all her senses told her at that moment that this was the last time she will see her foster father in her life.

It was just a hunch and yet every fiber of her being believed it to a terrifying degree.

She wanted to deny it since logic dictated more evidence and yet her feelings were only growing more and more pronounced by the second.

‘It can’t be… Old man isn’t dead.

That didn’t happen.’ She thought to herself as she looked at Aria with her tearful eyes.

“Call Kai…” Aria noticed the clear agitation in Kaya’s words and quickly pulled out her phone and dialed the number before she handed it to Kaya.

*** After receiving the call, Kai and Aria quickly rushed back to the apartment as fast as possible.

What they heard from Kaya through the phone sounded disastrous.

No, it was completely and utterly ruined.

The whole world had heard Mikayla speaking.

The truth has been revealed and everything was uncovered.

Divinity was hit with something they probably didn’t expect and the results of it are unimaginably disastrous.

A few minutes later they reached the apartment and barged inside.

The moment Kai walked inside, he found Kaya rushing toward him as she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.

Tears fell down from her eyes endlessly.

Kai was surprised at first before he wrapped his arms around her and left her to get all her frustration out.

Even Eva didn’t say anything since she knew that Kaya was truly devastated.

“He’s dead, Kai…” “You can’t be sure, Kaya.” “No, I can feel it… I felt it for a moment there.

Something told me that I will never see him again.” “Mikayla isn’t someone to die easily.

We will look for him.” He replied although even Kai himself wasn’t sure if what he’s saying would happen.

Finding Mikayla was going to be a very very hard task even if he was still alive.

There were no traces left of him after he left.

However, that didn’t mean that they didn’t have any clue where he could’ve gone after he disappeared.

When Mikayla met with Kaya again, he told her something about the infinity temple.

That detail alone told Kai many things and the main one was that Mikayla had met with his dad.

Whatever their meeting resulted in was still unknown.

However, that also meant that the main suspect of Mikayla’s possible death was Kai’s father, Damian.

‘I guess there is no other place to look for than there, isn’t there?’  “Kai…”  As they were like that, lost in their own thoughts, Aria called for Kai with a timid tone.

The trio looked up and noticed that Aria was pointing at the TV screen.

“It just came in: thousands of people left their homes heading toward the Divinity HQ after the footage of Mikayla Raullot and his alleged death following the revealed secrets he talked about in his found footage.

At the same time, the loud noises of people marching outside reached their ears and made them look through the window.

There, they could see an unimaginably long line of people walking in union.

“It already began.” Eva murmured.

“How are we supposed to deal with this?

Origin has now become known across the world!

People won’t shut up about it.” Kai didn’t reply immediately as he watched the scene with a dark expression.

The situation was disastrous on all fronts.

He had no idea how to actually deal with it, at least not when it just happened.

“…

We need to stay out of sight for now.

Divinity is the target for now.

When Origin Users start appearing one after the other, we will move.” At the moment, there were no people who suspected them for being Origin Users.

However, at that moment, Kaya’s phone started ringing.

Pulling it out, she read the name and her face turned into a deep frown.

“What the hell does this bastard want now?” “Who?” Kai asked.

“That bastard Charles.

He’s calling me.” She replied as she clicked her tongue angrily.

The last person she wanted to talk to at that moment was Charles.

He was someone she already hated.

Not to mention the huge conflict that was between him and his father that would only make her situation worse.

However, as she was about to hang up on him, Kai grabbed her hand and stopped her.

“Don’t hang up.

Answer him.” He said.

“What?

I’m sure he will just be an idiot and try to rile me up again.” “Just answer and let me talk if it comes to that.

I think I have an idea.” Kai replied with a serious tone that made Kaya completely speechless.

She tried to read his thoughts from his eyes, only to end up sighing and giving up.

Then, she tapped on the green button.

When the call connected, Kaya didn’t hear anything at first.

“What do you want?” She decided to speak.

At that moment, Kaya heard a faint whimper that confused her.

“Charles?” “…

Ah, excuse me.

*Sniff* Hello, Kaya.

How are you?”  Kaya’s eyes squinted as she went silent.

“Charles… Were you crying?” “Ah… No, it’s nothing.” He replied, his voice clearly not the normal one.

Charles had always been a confident individual with a very egotistical personality that couldn’t be moved under any circumstances.

Kaya even believed that he was an unfeeling psychopath Yet, this same monster was now crying on the phone.

“You’re definitely crying… Wait, are you… affected by the old man’s disappearance?” She asked.

“…

Why wouldn’t I be?

My father is dead, goddammit!” “…” “I know what you want to say.

How are you feeling it?

I know that we never agreed on things!

But, I would never wish for my father to die.” “You…” “What?

What do you want to say, Kaya?

Go ahead and insult me as much as you want.

Say I’m a piece of shit and that I’m the cause of his death.

Come on!

Fucking say it!” Charles’ voice was agitated, angry and regretful to a deep degree.

It made Kaya completely speechless.

“Why did you go silent?

Just come out and say it.” “…

The old man is still alive and I’m gonna find him.

Your pathetic regret won’t save him nor benefit me.

If you want to apologize to someone, apologize to him face to face.” “…” Watching Kaya’s conversation ensue, Kai, Eva and Aria were rather surprised.

Her response wasn’t the angry, resentful one that they expected.

Instead, it was calm, collected and very balanced.

It was clear that Kaya wasn’t talking purely with emotions.

She was using her logical mind to determine what was the right thing to do.

‘Kai said that we will find him and I know that he never breaks his promise.’ Kaya thought to herself secretly.
