I Received a Promise From Queen Alicia

[So what I’m hearing is that I have nothing useful to gain from making friends with and of you.]

Leaving just those words, Fredrik left the place without showing even a flicker of emotion on his face.

Why do I know all this in such detail you ask?

Because at that very moment I was glaring at Fredrik from my hiding spot with intense envy upon seeing Fredrik surrounded by all these people talking and enjoying such nice food in the garden.

No, upon seeing that scene, what I felt towards Fredrik at the time was worse than just envy. It was closer to outright bloodlust.

After all, he had something that I could never have no matter how much I tried and yet, he threw it all away.

“Not that I think about it, this is the first time you two get to talk face to face like this, am I correct?”

“Yes.”

In contrast to Fredrik’s monotonous response, my reply came after a slight hesitation.

Ever since that day, other than robin who came to beat me up, all I ever conversed with were the servants and even that was purely work related and nothing else.

Queen Alicia spoke, with her eyes cast to the ground.

I of course fully agreed with those words but, then all the more so, she should have cut off Robin.

“That’s why, even if he can’t become the emperor, I would like him to live a peaceful life. That’s why, I made him make his own faction separate from Fredrik, and when needed have him support Fredrik, and when Fredrik does become the emperor, I would have him granted a stable position.”

Basically, no matter how shit of a human being Robin was, he was still her cute child to Queen Alicia.

I always thought that Queen Alicia was more of a realist, that could abandon even her own blood and flesh if needed but………..I suppose I’m not as good at judging people as I thought I was yet.
