Chapter 58

Interlude

There’s no need for two of us in this world (2)

Wilhelm Von Svalier POV

Afterwards, I learnt who that girl actually was.

The girl’s name was Lizbeth and she was the sole daughter of the Marquis Fahlcrantz household, the great family that is said to be the very symbol of the military of the Baldyk Empire.

Of course, when I rejoined back with Yoran who was grovelling this time to Marquis Fahlcrantz, only Lizbeth had been brought back by the servants of the palace.

Even as she was being scolded by her father, she looked somewhat absent minded, and would even seem to blush as if she recalled something nice, and would break out into a smile.

It would seem, Lizbeth had fallen in love with the boy that had gotten beaten for her sake.

And that fact too, seemed to ruffle my feathers a bit.

“Wilehlm, we’re leaving.”

“………..Yes.”

Having finished his talk with Marquis Fahlcrantz, Yoran left the palace with me and Patrick in tow

And on our way back,……..I thought of this.

——–I want to destroy their relationship.

Of course at the time, I was only 5 years old and had no authority or power to do anything.

Not just that, Yoran completely shunned me anyway. There was nothing I could do.

But even so, dark emotions began to swirl inside me whenever I thought of those two, and those feelings only grew worse as time passed.

I don’t even know why I suddenly had this surge of emotions inside me when I saw those two.

But, I just, those two………no, just that boy, I instantly hated him.

That’s why, I wanted to steal from someone that was the same as me.

And so, 8 years after that day……..came the day of Lizbeth’s 10th birthday party being celebrated at the Fahlcrantz mansion.

By thoroughly acting obedient to Yoran for many years, I had earned a certain level of freedom, and I ended up going to the party as a proxy for Yoran instead.

That said, originally it was Patrick that was supposed to go there but, through sheer coincidence he just happened to get injured and so the responsibility fell on me instead.

Of course, I was not going to let go of this chance.

I was going to erase that boy’s existence entirely from Lizbeth’s mind, and I will turn her feelings into one of hatred for him instead by  the time they truly reunite.

And so.

“We finally meet. My destined lady.”

Standing in front of her, I boldly declared that.

When I did, her aquamarine eyes opened wide, and she seemed like she was about to cry.

But, Lizbeth was no fool either.

She quickly regained her composure and questioned me what I meant but, I had no intention of falling back at this point.

“I still recall the day I met you in the Imperial Palace on that day.”

When I said that, she finally seemed to understand……..no, misunderstand.

That I was the guy she met on that day.

From then on began my once in a month rendezvous with Lizbeth.

I personally would have preferred to do it openly but, being a girl that had not yet achieved adulthood, meeting another boy her age would perhaps not be seen very nicely, so we kept it a secret.

Well, to improve my own position inside the Svalier house, I did tell about my relation with Lizbeth to Yoran though.

Thanks to that, that man finally began backing me a bit more, as he really wanted to build a connection with the Fahlcrantz family as well.

I would prepare expensive presents for Lizbeth everytime I went to meet her, and would even resort to flattery that didn’t befit my age.

Perhaps because she was still too nervous, unlike the day of her birthday party, Lizbeth didn’t show much change in expression, and simply continued to keep my company.

Her aquamarine eyes always seemed like they could see through my heart.

As if she was pushing me away.

What’s so different between me and that boy anyway?

It only made to scar my heart even further.

Aah……..speaking of, Lizbeth would always ask me about what the present she gave that boy on that day was.

As I mentioned, I was not able to ascertain what that was so I would have no choice but to avoid the topic. I can’t imagine a 5 year girl having anything that was too precious on her so I could maybe get that info from her during our chats……..or at least that’s what I was hoping for.

But……..I never could have thought that it would end up becoming the main reason behind by lies being exposed.

In the end, Lizbeth’s messenger inquire me once again of what that item was so in a desperate attempt, I said [brooch].

Looking satisfied, the messenger girl suddenly told me that her lady was breaking off any relations with me and then left.

Soon after, the Svalier mansion caught fire and a majority of our belongings were lost as well.

I have a strong feeling that that messenger girl was behind all that as well.

Which meant, that I was getting retribution for deceiving Lizbeth.

.

.

“………And then, that Rudolf and Lizbeth were happily engaged to each other, eh………”

As the coffin holding Patrick was buried under the earth, I quietly mumbled to myself.

Now that the eldest son had ended up like that, I was the only one who could inherit the house.

No matter how much Yoran may scorn or despise me.

Yes……..I will one day take over everything our Svalier family owns.

And that one day will be coming very soon.

And when I do, I can begin my preparations to steal Lizbeth from that “dirty pig”………..from Rudolf Fürst Baldyk.

Just as how Lizbeth was deeply in love with that man, Rudolf too was deeply in love with Lizbeth.

So what will happen if I steal Lizbeth from her? Maybe, his heart will completely break.

Just like my own, from who he stole Lizbeth from.

“fufu………..this will be fun.”

Now that I know everything, I finally understand, why I hate that man so much.

That man is………exactly like me.

That’s why.
