Chapter 60
Chapter 60
Contact with the Second Prince
I took her hand as a brilliant smile bloomed on her face, and we began walking past the long line of carriages at our own pace and leisure…….but.
“…………………………..”
……..sensing a glare from inside one of the carriages, my eyes ended up meeting with Wilhelm’s inside one of them.
Speaking of which, I did hear from Maya that Svalier household’s eldest son, Patrick, had died from an illness and Wilhelm had become the official heir now.
I have feeling that the reason he was described as the eldest son in the [War Records of Wilhelm] was also because they probably felt that it was not an important piece of info to record. Not that I really care about it.
“……….and now my nice walk with Prince Rudy has been ruined because of that man.”
Liz shot back an equally hostile glare back at Wilhelm, and muttered with poison in her words.
And so.
“Ah……..”
“Liz, the one you should be looking at is not Wilhelm. But me. So, keep your eyes on me, and me alone, until we get to the academy.”
To be frank, I hated the very idea of him even being in Liz’s vision so, I stood in front of Liz to block her gaze, and smiled as I said that.
Now that I think about it, I might be almost as possessive as Liz was with me.
Well, part of it was also because of how much I hated the fact that in the [War Records of Wilhelm] our memories had been deceived and tarnished and he had supposedly managed to marry Lizbeth, which was utterly unforgivable to me.
“That certainly is true. Here I am getting the chance to enjoy a nice walk with Lord Rudy, so fretting over that vile insect is nothing but a waste of my time indeed.”
Liz’s smiled, and looked only at me.
How’s that Wilhelm? Liz loves me and me alone, and you have no chance of barging into our relationship anymore.
So just stop bothering us already.
“Come, let us be on our way.”
“Yes!”
While still feeling Wilhelm’s gaze on my back, we ignored it and continued forward towards the Academy gates.
.
.
“Goodness me, here I am always putting my very flesh and bones on the line for your sake my prince, Lady Lizbeth, and yet you both so mercilessly ignored me. Who could have thought.”
As we reached the Imperial Academy a little late than planned, Maya did not hold back in showing her displeasure.
This was more or less within my expectations though.
That said, it didn’t make it any less troublesome.
We two were engaged after all, and it was only normal for us to want to be alone together sometimes. So I wish she’d be a bit more tolerant about it all.
“In the first place, Maya, you’re the who’s constantly complaining when we act intimate with each other, don’t you? Then, it’s perfectly fine to let us be on our own every once in a while, no?”
Liz, good rebuttal.
I feel the same as you.
“This and that are different matters entirely. Today is the day of your entrance ceremony. What were you planning to do without having your caretaker by your side.”
“th-that’s, well……..”
Dammit Maya, why does she always have a logical response ready?
Thanks to that, both me and Liz were a bit lost for words.
“That’s what I thought! Then, make sure you two don’t do something like this again. And also…….this is not the Scorpio palace you know?”
“”!?!””
Much different than her usual look, seeing Maya act as her original spy self made both of us inadvertently gulp.
Like she said, it was true. I was definitely acting a tad too careless and frivolous right now.
Once I’m outside the palace, I need to be far more careful and cautious of my surroundings now.
Especially, other than Wilhelm who was in our same grade, there was also Robin who was a grade above us, and then there was also Oscar who was in eldest grade.
When I think of it that way, what actions I needed to take were more than clear.
“……….Looks like you finally understand. In any case, other than when classes are ongoing, do not roam about without either myself or Anne by your sides respectively.”
“”yes………””
Both me and Lizbeth drooped our shoulders and nodded sincerely.
“Then, let us head to the entrance ceremony. As part of my official duties in the unfortunate absence of Master who was unable to attend today, I, Maya Brandt, will be sure to burn the image of both of your dignified appearances into my very eyes on this auspicious day.”
“L-likewise, just like Maya-senpai, I too will carve the image of both your highness and lady Lizbeth into my very heart……….”
In comparison to Maya who was jokingly being a little overdramatic, Anne spoke with a much more serious expression.
Seeing her like that, I started to feel a little bit of pressure as well. Seriously, that’s a bit too heavy.
“W-well, sure……….Liz.”
“Huh, Yes?”
I recollected myself, and took Liz’s hand once again as we made our way to the venue of the entrance ceremony.
And on the way.
“Congratulations on your entrance, Rudolf.”
“……….Brother Oscar.”
The person who appeared in front of us was a man with a refreshing smile, the second prince Oscar.
He was also a fellow student here so I always knew I’d run into him but, it’s a bit of pain if he’s lying in wait for me from the very first day…….
“Is something the matter? We have our entrance ceremony soon so we’re in a bit of a hurry unfortunately.”
“Well, I’m also in the same position in that case. You forget, I am in the senior-most grade, and also the one with highest position within it after all.”
“Oh……..that’s how it is, huh.”
At the Imperial Academy, the students of the senior-most grade are the ones responsible for the welcoming address for the new students.
With Fredrik already graduated, being the person with the highest status as well as being one of the senior-most students, Oscar would be the one in charge of it.
“If that’s the case, you shouldn’t be wasting time with us here, no? I’m sure the teachers and servants are probably looking for you right now.”
“Now now, you don’t need to be that cruel with me. After all, my dear brother has entered the academy.”
…………What the hell is this guy saying now?
He never even bothered to acknowledge me as his brother even once until now.
“That in and of itself will be a problem though. I’m sure Brother Robin would not be very happy to see you with me of all people, brother Oscar.”
Indeed. Liz was one thing since he was infatuated with her, I was the guy he hated the most, and he probably wanted to kill me as soon as possible I’m sure.
“You don’t need to worry about that. After all…”
Oscar alternated his gaze between both me and Liz before continuing.
“He will be broken very soon, after all.”
His lips curled like a crescent moon.
