A week had passed since our admission into the academy.
Finally I was starting to get used to life here, and the other noble kids were starting to form groups of their own with people they got along with.
The connections made here in this academy would continue to live on even after they inherit their houses or take station in important jobs in the Empire……….that said…
“Lord Rudy, let us go to the cafeteria together shall we?”
“A, ahaha…….”
Alas, I had not made a single one these so called academy friends, and only Liz would talk to me as always.
Well, part of it was already the matter that I was the infamous bastard fourth prince, so the noble kids were keeping distance from me from the start though. I suppose it can’t be helped.
All that said.
“That person………he was staring at Lord Rudy just now wasn’t he?”
Half of the reason I think why I didn’t have friends was also because Liz would intimidate anyone who would even dare come close to me.
Well, it was also proof that Liz truly and deeply treasure me as well so, it still made me happy though.
But.
“Liz, are you sure about this? By always staying with me, you won’t make any other friends either you know?”
“I have no need for surface-only friends. More than that, by becoming friends with me, more girls will find a way to get close to Lord Rudy, and I won’t be able to tolerate that anyway.”
“I-I see……..”
Well, if Liz is fine with it, I’m fine with it too but……….yeah, her love is indeed heavy.
“That aside, what do you plan to eat today? I’m personally thinking of going with mostly meat for today but…….”
After we reached the cafeteria, Liz looked up to me and asked as she stared at the menu.
Her question had implications. [I want to eat meat, so you should order fish based dishes please.] basically.
Meaning, Liz wanted to eat both meat and fish together.
Then, just order both normally, you’d think but, Liz too was the lady of great noble house. She couldn’t have herself be seen as a glutton either it seemed.
And so, I’ll order fish, and then happen to share it with her instead. It was a serious request from her. How about it, don’t you think my fiancée is simply adorable too?
“Then, I guess I’ll order some fish type dishes, and we can share between each other. Will that be okay with you?”
“! Of-of course!”
See, Liz instantly showed a bright, wide smile on her face.
Of course, it was simply good manners on my part to not say it out loud and simply go along with it even after recognizing it.
And thus, we finished our orders, and then took our seat at a terrace table.
Thankfully, I was quite hated, and Liz was intimidating, so the rest of the students would run away upon our arrival, letting us freely choose wherever we wanted to sit.
“fufu, the fishes sure seem delicious today.”
“Yes, the meat dishes you ordered are also fantastic.”
While having such a chat, we were enjoying our meal when..
“Can I take a seat here?”
Incorrigibly so, the one who came to us was indeed Wilhelm.
“Lord Rudy, let us change tables.”
“Then, I’ll move too.”
Ehhh………he really plans on following us?
Seriously, this guy is such an annoyance.
“Do you not understand? Sitting beside you………no, simply being near you is utterly unpleasant to me. If you keep following us, it’s a serious turn-off for both of us.”
“I’m not really trying to follow you. I simply happen to sit close to you that’s all.”
“If the place is the problem, then why not simply eat some other time different from us.”
Even though Liz was making herself as clear as possible, Wilhelm seemed unwilling to back down today for whatever reason.
Could it be, that he has some kind of aim behind this?
“Wilhelm, are you incapable of understanding words now? Just seeing your face alone makes the food taste worse, so disappear from my sights is what she’s saying.”
“It is as Lord Rudy says.”
When I intervened and spoke to Wilhelm, Liz also followed up with an agreement.
Seeing us like this must have ticked him off as, Wilhelm grimaced.
“………..Lizbeth. Are you seriously satisfied with being engaged to Prince Rudolf?”
“Take those words back, right this instant. I am not simply ‘satisfied’ by being Lord Rudy’s fiancée, being able to remain his fiancée is the source of my happiness in life.”
Wilhelm’s phrasing truly annoyed Liz as she instantly reiterated her feelings.
“Listen to me, your household, the Fahlcrantz family is symbol of the military might of this empire Lizbeth. Do you not think that your partner should also be someone truly befitting that image as well?”
“……….what are you trying to say?”
“The details of it all, you’ll understand tomorrow for sure. Lizbeth,………watch me closely tomorrow.”
“I’d rather not.”
Saying that, Wilhelm finally left us alone and went back.
“…………even though I was enjoying my meal with Lord Rudy, that man just had to ruin the mood…….”
“Liz, cheer up. We can simply enjoy out time together from here onwards as always. And also, Wilhelm actually brought me some great info for once.”
“That man did, you say………?”
Disliking the way I put it, Liz frowned as she asked.
“Indeed. After all, tomorrow’s the ability test. The day I’ll get to embarrass him in front of the whole academy.”
“ah…………fufu, that’s right. But even so, all that these eyes of mine will be looking at will be you and you alone, my prince.”
Liz chuckled, and then smiled, as she stared warmly at me with her aquamarine eyes.
