Meeting with Prince Robin, Queen Alicia
“Speaking of,………why did you even agree to letting Prince Robin to get engaged with Lady Sheila in the first place?”
Feeling a bit relaxed that she had agreed to my demands about Queen Alicia, I asked something that I had been curious about for a while.
To be perfectly frank, it was very obvious that Robin was not emperor material, and honestly, it was up for debate whether he was worthy of being nobility as well.
From the point of view of Lady Andersen who had been running her territory through sheer wits alone, a fool like Robin would be the least likely candidate to accept but…..
“my oh my, well, there’s a very simply answer to that.”
The Earl chuckled and then explained.
First of all, to build the diplomatic trading agreement with Nordia Kingdom, they got a lot of support directly from the Imperial household. Especially, Queen Alicia played a huge part in setting it all up.
And it made sense. After all, if there was someone at the Imperial palace that was always thinking about the betterment of the Empire, it was Queen Alicia.
To be clear, the Emperor did in fact perform his duties properly as well but, ever since Beatrice’s appearance, he’s been infatuated with her and has even started bringing her with him during work, which had even me wondering what the hell was he thinking.
Next up, the fact that Robin was an incompetent fool was coincidentally a condition that she was actively looking for when searching for Sheila’s future partner.
For a moment, I thought I was mishearing things when she said that but, considering that she wanted Sheila to inherit the Andersen house, I guess it really did made sense that her husband remained a dumb fool that was easy to manipulate.
Furthermore, since Robin would become a normal subject of the Empire upon the marriage, he would also be given land and peerage to go with it but, that land would also technically then become part of the Andersen territory so getting that was another ulterior motive behind the marriage.
“B-but still, to have to take Robin as your husband even when considering the benefits, wouldn’t it still be quite painful for Lady Sheila herself………?”
“ufufu, well he’d only be the legal husband, and nothing more. Afterwards, we’d just have to let them both find partners who they truly love and that would be alright.”
Uwaaah……….basically, Robin would be taken as just a figurehead husband, and Sheila’s real partner would be decided separately.
It could be that if Robin had married Sheila, he would have become a completely domesticated pet………
“I’ve heard a bunch from Sheila as well but, I’d love it if Prince Rudolf, you could be Sheila’s partner instead………”
