I, a Simple Villager, was Reincarnated as an Infamous Tyrant Prince from 300 Years Ago!

Chapter 87

Chapter 87

Oscar’s motives, and the two incompatibles.

“Pardon the intrusion.”

“!?!”

With the knock, a man walked in, dragging his left leg.

It was of course………Wilhelm.

“Brother Oscar!”

“Why are you so surprised? You already know, Wilhelm is the son of the Duke Svalier family and also an Imperial like us. Then, it only makes sense that he’d be invited to the council as well.”

If Imperials are expected to be part of the student council, then what Oscar says is indeed valid.

However, considering this is Oscar who obviously knows how and why I ended up joining hands with Queen Alicia and Fredrik, surely he must also know that me and Wilhelm don’t exactly get along.

And yet, he was still trying to make and me and Wilhelm board the same ship called the student council. But for what purpose…….?

“Rudolf, you really are overthinking these things. I am just trying to help you two fulfil the duty that all imperials must bear. And also, help and support me at the same time.”

……..I see. I finally get it now.

Oscar wanted not just me, but also Wilhelm……..meaning, the Svalier family to join his camp as well.

“Brother Oscar, my deepest apologies but, I will have to decline from joining the student council.”

“Don’t say that. I know you’ve got issues with Wilhelm but you too will one day, become a cornerstone of this Empire. Then, you should learn to swallow such petty matters too.”

“I refuse.”

Haha………I don’t know just how much Oscar knows about the details but, he really just called our dispute a petty matter huh.

Even though this man was capable of making it so that I and Liz never got engaged, and instead the world would head to the future written in the [War Records of Wilhelm].

And now, I also understood why Wilhelm still came to school even after suffering from such an injury.

To get invited by Oscar, and to be together with me……..no with Liz here in the council. I’m sure that’s what he was planning.

After all, if I joined the council, Liz would have obviously come with me.

And if that happens, Wilhelm would once again start harassing Liz in his attempts to woo her again.

All so he could somehow steal Liz away from me.

And he was not the type to pick and choose his methods either.

“………..meaning, you will not join me no matter what. Is that what you’re saying Rudolf?”

Oscar always kept up his gentle demeanour but, his expression right now showed fury, and the tone of his voice dropped as he questioned me again.

“As long as you intend to keep this Wilhem beside you, I won’t join you even if an eternity passes.”

“………………………..”

“Now, allow me to take my leave.”

Ignoring the glares from both Oscar and Wilhelm, as well as the gazes of the other student council members, I left the salon behind me.

.

.

“Something like that………..”

I rejoined with Liz and Sheila and then explained what all happened at the salon.

Hearing all that, Liz dropped her gaze a little.

“Yes. Seriously, I was right to not bring you with me to that place. If you were also there, there was even a chance that Oscar and Wilhelm would have both tried to use some other methods as well.”

“That…………what othermethods are you talking of……..?”

“Worst case, they might have even tried to take you as a hostage.”

Of course, judging by the looks of the group there, I don’t think Liz would have lost to any of them and I would also not let that happen.

But, it was a lot of people in a pretty narrow room. They could definitely get away with using some cheap tactics.

“U-umm, well, I know I’m an outsider in all this so I don’t know if I’m allowed to question this but…….would Prince Oscar really go that far……..?”

Sheila entered the conversation, and timidly asked.

“That, I do not know. But, I also believe that there is no harm in being pre-emptively wary of such things either.”

That answer was a lie.

I had a gut feeling that Oscar was the type that could stoop as low as humanely possible to get what he wanted.

The day of our entrance, I still remember his deep dark eyes, like the abyss itself, that he showed us.

In there, I could tell, there was only hatred for the Imperials……..no, for people with amber eyes.

But.

“……….I wonder why Oscar chose Wilhelm……..or rather, the Svalier family?”

I muttered, to myself.

Wilhelm too held imperial blood in him, and its mark, the amber eyes, were something that he had inherited as well.

That’s why, normally thinking, I don’t see why he’d try and recruit Wilhelm.

And also, while Wilhelm’s household did have the largest territory under them in terms of size as well as the highest ranked peerage, they were still completely outclassed by the Fahlcrantz family that held the mightiest military.

Then, logically speaking, he should have prioritized me over Wilhelm.

Of course, perhaps it was simply that Oscar had ambitions of bringing both of us under his flag as well.

But, with the way things ended now, he should have quickly cut ties with Wilhelm and tried to get me to stay instead, and yet, he didn’t do that. Instead, he chose to antagonize me instead.

“We need to investigate the relationship between Prince Oscar and that man……..no, the Svalier household, as well it seems.”

“Indeed………”

I gave a deep nod to Liz’s words.
