I AM A MAGE BUT WITH MILF SYSTEM

Chapter 895: The fear of wife

Chapter 895: The fear of wife

The night soon fell completely over the Astran duchy.

Julian was already back in his room. He had changed into a simpler set of clothes and now sat on the edge of the bed.

His eyes were closed and all of his attention had turned inward.

Inside the Kraven’s sea of consciousness, the landscape was vast and unsettled.

Dark clouds of black flame filled almost the entire space, twisting and surging like a storm with no end. The fire seemed to have a life of its own, spreading through the inner world and pressing against its boundaries.

There was something deeply wrong about it… something that seemed to reach far beyond Kraven himself.

In front of that massive presence, almost lost against its scale, floated a faint golden cloud.

At first, Julian barely gave it a second glance. It seemed insignificant beside the vastness surrounding it. But the longer he looked, the more he realized how wrong that first impression had been.

The golden cloud was far more vibrant than the black flames. Its light carried a depth that the darkness, for all its overwhelming size, could not match. The black fire churned and devoured, while the golden cloud, on the other hand, was tightly condensed, its radiance pure and remarkably stable.

In that instant, the black flame flared.

It surged forward without warning and came into contact with the golden cloud.

Julian braced for a violent reaction… maybe for rupture, backlash, or the kind of explosion that could tear through a soul sea and leave the body coughing blood on the bed.

…

….

Surprisingly, none of that happened.

The two forces met, exchanged few soundless blows, and then withdrew. The black flame folded back into its own territory. The golden cloud settled again, smaller still in appearance, but unbroken.

Julian opened his eyes and wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead.

“Thank God,” he muttered helplessly. “I am glad I am training every day.”

That clash might have looked controlled from the outside. But from within, the strain was real.

If the golden presence had been any weaker, the black flame would have swallowed it in a single push. The fact that it held at all was proof of how far he had forced this borrowed body to climb.

Over the past weeks, every intimate encounter had done more than satisfy Julian’s need or serve political necessity.

Through those sessions, Julian absorbed mana from the women involved, refined it, and fed it into the incomplete foundation of this body. His magical realm had progressed steadily and now stood on the verge of breaking through to Grand Mage.

As his cultivation strengthened, so did the mana and soul force he could express through Kraven’s body.

That was why the small golden cloud could neutralize the heavier dark mass at all.

In terms of quantity, the black flame held the advantage. In terms of quality, however, the golden energy was far superior. And with Julian’s Creation energy directly opposing the energy of death, that advantage became even more pronounced.

Still, his energy and soul had to remain pure, dense, and sharp enough to resist being consumed.

Even so, there were limits.

Julian’s original soul had always been powerful. In his true body, under the laws of the Throne of Gods, that power would have manifested very differently. But here, inside Kraven, he was bound by the limitations of his vessel. The world itself rejected power beyond a certain threshold, and this body could accommodate only a fraction of his true strength.

That was also why his soul had failed to completely resist the Crown Prince’s Soul Manipulation technique earlier in the corridor.

Julian let out a slow breath and closed his eyes once more, allowing the remaining tension to fade.

The inner sea gradually settled into silence. The golden energy and the black flames remained within their respective boundaries, neither advancing nor attempting to encroach upon the other.

For the moment, the fragile balance held.

As he remained seated on the floor—

**knock knock**

— the sound pulled him back to reality.

Julian opened his eyes, stood, and stretched his limbs. The tension in his shoulders eased only slightly.

‘Is it the Queen Mother?’ he thought.

He walked to the door, paused for a few more seconds, then opened it.

Surprisingly, Olivia stood there.

Her expression was complex, caught between worry and hesitation. The corridor light softened the lines of her face, but it could not hide the unease in her eyes.

“Mother,” Julian whispered.

“Julian… I have something to talk about,” she said hesitantly.

“Come inside.”

He stepped back a little, giving her space to enter. Olivia moved in quickly and locked the door behind her. For a moment she remained near it, as if the closed wood itself was part of the courage she needed.

“Have you talked with your father?” she asked finally.

Julian shook his head. “No. Why? And why do you look so panicked?”

Olivia stepped further into the room. Her hands were lightly clasped in front of her, fingers twisting together without rest.

“I do not know. Ever since the King visited, he has become restless, as if something is bothering him.” She paused, then continued in a lower voice. “It is as if he is scared of the King. I have never seen him this way before. Even a few days ago, he was muttering something about how he was going to cause a rebellion. I did not care much about it then. But not anymore. With His Majesty right here, if your father were to do something, the whole family would be broken.”

Julian was caught momentarily off guard.

He processed her words slowly, and as he did, the meaning behind them became clearer.

The Duke had already decided to stand against the crown’s path. It was not because he wanted the throne for himself. It was more so tied to the south, to the erased shadow of Valthor, and to the fragment that the Servant of Death wanted.

The royal side was moving to crush what remained of that old line. The Duke, whether from guilt, memory, or a harder kind of principle, was no longer willing to watch it happen in silence. He kept it inside a narrow circle and had not informed even his own wife.
