Chapter 3662 - 3654: The Real Purpose
Chapter 3662: Chapter 3654: The Real Purpose
Lin Yi called out to them, and the group went upstairs.
They saw Tian Yan leading the other executives, waiting at the entrance of the conference room.
Each of them looked like they were facing a formidable enemy.
Even the boss’s wife had come in person; this was definitely no small matter.
"Tian Yan, come with me. The others, head to the conference room," Lin Yi said.
"Got it, Director Lin."
Several core members of the group went back to Lin Yi’s office.
"Director Lin, I heard they’re making new moves again. They might start restricting us through other components and raw materials, cutting off chip production at the root," Qi Xianzhao said.
"Besides those few companies, some countries’ Ministries of Commerce have gotten involved too. This time the commotion is huge, even worse than I expected," Tian Yan said.
"I thought about it yesterday. These are pretty much the only angles they can work."
Lin Yi said:
"Let them keep playing. I happen to be free lately, I’ll just drag it out with them."
"Aside from this, we’re also facing other problems," Qi Xianzhao said:
"To grab market share, they’ve ramped up R&D spending and paid sky‑high prices to poach a lot of people from us. Even though the core staff are still here, our R&D schedule has been affected a little."
The issues Qi Xianzhao raised were exactly what everyone else had been thinking about.
"I’ve looked into the situation at the Research Institute too. They’re offering double or even triple the salaries to dig up our researchers,"
Tian Yan said:
"This approach is insane, like they’ve gone completely crazy. From the way things look, they’re dead set on fighting us to the bitter end."
"This is within my expectations. After all, that’s exactly how we poached people before," Lin Yi said calmly:
"What did Boss Shen say? Can he still keep things under control?"
"It’s not a big problem, still within his grasp," Tian Yan said:
"But the stock prices of some of our subsidiaries have already been affected."
"Actually, all of this is being pushed by the Beautiful Country’s officials and people on Wall Street, but first they use high salaries to poach people, then issue bans. That’s not really their usual style," He Yuanyuan said:
"Taking us down isn’t something that can be done overnight. The losses they’re taking can only be described as astronomical."
"My guess is they’ve found some crucial leverage and are confident they can crush us in a short time," Qi Xianzhao said:
"Otherwise they wouldn’t go this far."
"I’ve been waiting for this exact move. Get ready first—we’ll hold a 3‑nanometer chip launch event."
"Once the ban is in place, given the current situation, even if we roll out a 3‑nanometer chip, it might still not be enough to break the blockade."
Lin Yi shrugged and said calmly:
"Doesn’t matter. This is all just a show. They’re the audience, and I’m going to put on a loud, lively performance for them. Let them watch."
Everyone exchanged glances.
In Lin Yi’s eyes, they saw confidence.
Even though Qi Xianzhao was currently sitting in town at Lingyun Group, the real backbone was still Lin Yi.
Without him, Lingyun Group wouldn’t be Lingyun Group.
Ring ring ring—
Just then, Lin Yi’s phone rang.
It was a call from Qin Han.
"Old Lin, where are you? Still out messing around?"
"No, I got back yesterday. I’m at the group in a meeting."
"You’ve seen the news, right? You dealing with that now?"
"Yeah."
"That’s what I’m calling about too," Qin Han said:
"You free at noon? Haven’t had a meal together in ages. Come over to my place for a drink."
Lin Yi checked the time.
"Sure."
After a few brief words, Lin Yi hung up.
"You guys just go ahead and prep for the launch. Make sure it’s big and high‑profile. I’ll find some leaders from the relevant departments to show up on stage. We’ll hold it three days from now; we have to make it look grand."
"Understood."
"I don’t think it’ll be long before they play their killer move. Keep your eyes peeled."
"Got it."
"I think we should check how much of our technology and raw materials still come from overseas. The things they plan to sanction have to be in there somewhere," Ji Qingyan said:
"Then we can think through countermeasures one by one."
"I think President Ji is right," Tian Yan said:
"Apart from those, they don’t really have any other way to threaten us."
"Our current domestic‑content rate has already reached 65%. A lot of things haven’t been switched to domestic suppliers yet simply because foreign ones are more cost‑effective," Qi Xianzhao said:
"If they issue more bans, domestic manufacturers can supply in a short time, and our domestic‑content rate can reach around 85%."
"Then we start from the remaining 15%," Lin Yi said:
"And then see, within that 15%, which items can barely be substituted and which ones can’t be replaced at all."
"Understood."
After they finished discussing the important matters, Lin Yi went to the conference room.
The group’s executives had been waiting there for quite a while.
The meeting mainly focused on some of the company’s management systems and various difficulties encountered at work.
But during the meeting, Ji Qingyan didn’t say a word.
She played the role of the boss’s wife perfectly.
By the time the meeting ended, it was almost noon.
Lin Yi, Ji Qingyan, and He Yuanyuan drove to Qin Han’s barbecue restaurant for a small get‑together.
"This came pretty suddenly. Did you get wind of something in advance?"
On the way, He Yuanyuan asked.
"You noticed?"
"It wasn’t me, Brother Qi spotted it."
"Knew it. With that brain of yours, there’s no way you’d figure this out."
"Damn, believe it or not I’ll grab the steering wheel and we’ll die together."
Ji Qingyan looked helplessly out the window.
The two of them were at it again.
"I only heard someone mention it a day earlier, but I didn’t expect the targeting to be this precise."
"If even you didn’t see much coming, then it might just be that we’ve gotten too big and flashy,"
He Yuanyuan said:
"They won’t allow a company they can’t control to challenge their dominance in the tech field."
"Maybe it’s been in the works for a long time, they just didn’t show it," Ji Qingyan said:
"My guess is they cracked some key technology and felt the timing was right."
Lin Yi casually made up an excuse to brush it off.
In reality, he did know a few things, but there were still parts he hadn’t figured out.
It was obvious that the mastermind behind all this was the Kaijie Group.
The main purpose of doing this was to target him.
But the problem was, attacking him economically was completely pointless.
Let alone the fact that he could still hold Lingyun Group up—even if Lingyun Group went bankrupt, it wouldn’t improve their overall strength.
Because of that, Lin Yi felt that there might be other reasons behind all this.
As for what they were, he hadn’t figured it out yet.
