Chapter 1 – An Unexpected Reunion
Part 1
“──Hmmm. This place…”
A woman awoke feeling lightheaded.
A pure white space, dotted with lights of various colors floating here and there, stretched out around her.
This woman was the very mutation that Yuuya had encountered in the snowy mountains and defeated… Or so it should have been.
But the mutation was not dead yet.
Then…
“I see… I suppose I lost after all.”
The woman murmured this, then laughed bitterly.
“Back then, I plunged into that guy’s body to survive, but it seems I succeeded.”
The reason this woman was alive was because, immediately after being defeated by Yuuya, she mustered her last strength and took refuge in his body.
Now, she had successfully awakened inside Yuuya’s body.
“Another strange one has arrived.”
“Hm?”
All of a sudden, Kuro, the original inhabitant of Yuuya’s body, addressed the woman.
Having never imagined that another presence existed within Yuuya besides herself, the woman let out a growl.
“Mm… I never imagined there was another here before me. How surprising.”
“That’s what I should be saying. I never imagined any other presence besides myself would invade this body.”
“Hm…”
The woman was surprised that another presence existed, but she was even more intrigued by Kuro’s existence.
“You seem different from me, yet I faintly sense the same aura. But more than that, you seem terribly unstable right now.”
“Yeah, I figured. I don’t know why, but I’ve been really sleepy lately. I don’t feel like I’m fading, though, so it can’t be that bad.”

As the woman pondered over this, sleepiness overtook Kuro once more.
“Just as we’re talking, I’m getting sleepy again. Whatever. Since you’ve entered Yuuya like this, don’t interfere with him.”
Despite his drowsiness, he made his point clear, causing the woman to look thoroughly exasperated.
“I know that without being told. More like, when I entered this one, I already made a contract. In exchange for being allowed to survive inside this body, I lend my power. Honestly, I never thought I’d sign such a slave contract so soon after being born into this world…”
Kuro let out a big sigh and smiled cheerfully.
“I see. Well, that’s a relief. Since we’re living in the same place, let’s get along, okay?”
After saying that, Kuro simply fell asleep.
“Hmph… What an unusual roommate. The tone is masculine enough. Does this person lack the concept of gender? It’s impossible to tell from the voice alone. More than that, it’s fascinating that this one is also part of the Master’s power.”
No sooner had she said this than the woman scanned her surroundings.

Sora and Youta Tenjou winced as a paper was thrown at them.
Scattered before them were test papers with scores like 80 and 90.
Taisei Tenjou, who was also Yuuya’s father, was yelling at them.
Behind him, seated and examining the test papers, was their mother… Asahi Tenjou.
“I’m appalled. How dare you show me such scores without a shred of shame?”
“I-I’m sorry.”
“Ugh…”
Faced with these cold words, Youta and Sora could only shrink back.
After the Red Ogre incident, Youta and Sora’s lives changed completely.

Taisei and Asahi began arguing fiercely.
Faced with this scene, Youta and Sora could only huddle together, trembling.
That incident drastically changed Taisei and Asahi’s attitude toward Youta and Sora.

As a dark atmosphere unintentionally enveloped the two of them, Sora continued.

“…I want to apologize to Onii-chan.”
“Sora…”
“We did apologize at the end of that incident, but it wasn’t enough. We did something terrible. Even now, we can’t live with Onii-chan. I want to face him properly again and apologize properly. I want to make things right with him.”

After a moment of thought, Youta opened his mouth.
“…Then, next time, let’s go see Nii-san.”

After that incident, Youta and Sora changed as if a weight had been lifted off them. They even stopped calling Yuuya “that shitty older brother” and started calling him “Onii-chan” or “Nii-san” instead.
“We should go see him and apologize properly again. Even if he rejects us. It’s the only thing we can do.”

In a way, apologizing was just a form of self-satisfaction.
Still, their desire to apologize to Yuuya and make amends with him was genuine.
“Speaking of which, New Year’s is coming up soon. Do you think Onii-chan will come home?”
