Chapter 6 – The Bond of Sisters
Part 1
Then, on the day of the decisive battle.
The four stood with their backs to the Imperial capital.
The sky was covered with thick clouds, and the full moon, which had just begun to rise, was occasionally visible.
“It’s getting good, isn’t it?”
“Yes.”
Lexia said, and Noel nodded with a stiff face.
Tito squeezed her hand on her chest.
“I’ll beat it for sure…! For Emma and for everyone…!”
Before leaving her home village, Tito held Emma’s hand and promised that she would defeat the ice spirit and clear away this cursed blizzard.
Lexia and the others also stared out into the darkness, thinking of the towns they had passed through, the villagers in Tito’s home village, and the people of the imperial capital.
And then.
“Here it comes…!”
A slender figure emerged, drawing a curtain of blizzard winds with it.
“Onee-san!”
“Flora-san!”
Noel shouted to Flora, who stood like a ghost.”
“Can you hear me, Onee-san? This time I will defeat the ice spirit and get you back…!”
But the answer was a cold gaze and a hoarse voice.
“Kuhahahaha…! No matter how much you called her, it was useless! This woman’s consciousness sank so deep that she could no longer move a finger of her own will! Soon… soon, with the release of my true power, she will be completely mine!”
“I-ice spirit…!”
“This is the only time you can be so proud of yourself! I’m going to defeat you soon enough!”
The ice spirit caught Lexia’s eye and squinted at her in amusement.
“You’re alive, huh, little girl? How did you manage to break the ice curse I put on you? I don’t know what trick you used… but unfortunately. Soon the time will be fulfilled. As soon as the full moon hangs over the mid-heaven, you and all the rest of you will be covered in my ice.”
Noel glared at the ice spirit, whose mouth twisted into a smile.
“I will never let you do what you want…! I will clear the curse and bring back my sister!”
“Fuh, haha. It’s a bold thing to do. So befits the sacrifice. Now, you puny creatures, fear and revere the power of the ancient curse! Be my food!”
The ice spirit opened its arms, and a blizzard swept in, freezing the ground in place.
Then, from the frozen ground, ice dolls were created one after another.
“Go, my army of death! Let those who defy me be beaten, tortured, and frozen in fear!”
“Vuooooooooooo!”
“They’re coming!”
“I’ll hold them off here, no matter what it takes! Lexia, take advantage of the ice spirit’s opening and activate Breath of Light to pry it away from Flora!”
“Yes!”
In the midst of the blizzard, the group clashed with the ice army.

“Vuooooooooooooo!”
Dozens of ice dolls marched toward the imperial capital.
Tito stared at the ice dolls and dropped to her knees.
“I’ll show you the power that Usagi-san taught me! Thundering Claws・Extreme!”
She leaped into the air above the ice army and used her spinning to slam her power into them.
Boooommm!
The ground shakes, and a roar bursts out, blowing the ice dolls to pieces.
The force was tremendous, and it was clear that her training with Usagi had paid off.
“I did it; it doesn’t regenerate…! Usagi-san was right; I was able to destroy the entire core…!”
“Compared to that training, dealing with a slow-moving doll is a piece of cake──Boisterous Dance!”
Luna swings her string as she runs through the ice dolls.
Swish, swish, swish!
With sharpened cuts, the ice army, which should have been as strong as the mithril boar, was torn apart like paper.
“Vuo, oooo…!”
“If they were cut up this much, they wouldn’t be able to regenerate.”
“Wha…? My army of ice is shattered into pieces and cannot even regenerate…?”
The ice spirit’s face twitches as it watches the ice dolls crumble one after the other.
“Our technique works!”
“Oh. We can win with this!”
Tito and Luna breathed as they crushed the ice army.

“Kuh…! Don’t be silly, you little girls, don’t think you’ve won with such a small feat! I will show you my secret technique!”
The ice spirit held up its hand to Tito and released an ice snake from its fingertips.
“Kishaaaa!”
Dozens of ice serpents were closing in on Tito.
“Wha…?”
“Tito, watch out!”
Lexia cries out, and Luna shoots a string toward Tito.
“Avoidance!”
Tito was saved in the nick of time by Luna’s string and was able to escape the snake’s fangs.
“T-thank you, Luna-san…!”
“Yeah, but what the hell is that snake…?”
The ice serpent, having lost its target, bit into a tree behind Tito, and the tree instantly froze.
“N-no way…!?”
“The tree was instantly frozen…?”
“Kishaaaaa!”
The ice spirit, with countless snakes clinging to its body, turns its head and laughs.
“Fuh, hahaha! When the fangs of my ice serpent snatch it, whatever it is, it will freeze instantly! Let’s see how much fun you can have with an army of ice and ice serpents!”
“Vuoooooooooooo!”
Luna and Tito confront the ice army while escaping from the ice serpent.
However, they were forced to fight hard against the swift and sneaky ice serpents.
“Kishaaaaaa!”
“Kuh, the ice serpent jumps on me when I try to strike a technique; that’s annoying…!”
“And it’s hard to read its presence in the blizzard…!”
The people of the imperial capital watched the scene with trepidation in their homes.
“T-there’s no way we can fight that thing…!”
“They’re all going to die!”
“It’s so scary…!”
“Hyiiiii, we’re doomed…!”
The voices of desperate people reached Tito’s ears.
As if in response to this fear, the blizzard blew even harder.
“Ugh…! The blizzard is blowing so hard, the front is…!”
“I can’t even execute my moves!”
The heavy icy snow stopped Luna and the others in their tracks and slowed their movements.
“Hahahaha! Good, I’m overflowing with power! More food, more sacrifices! Rise, O moon, take this woman’s body completely as my own and lay waste to all that lives in fearful ice!”
Behind the thick clouds, the full moon is approaching the mid-sky, and a blizzard is rumbling and shaking the imperial capital.
The dark blue eyes of the ice spirit looked down at Lexia and the others suffering from the blizzard with amusement.
“Oh, how fragile and pathetic you are! At least let me show her face to you who are dying. Let us say our last farewells!”
Beyond the ice spirit, the image of Flora shimmers.
A thin voice cried out as if in a desperate attempt to squeeze out.
“Oh, I’m so sorry…! This thing… I-I was wrong…! So please, no more…!”
“Onee-san…!”
Noel shouted at Flora, who was suffering in the depths of the ice spirit.
“Don’t let the ice spirit defeat you, Onee-san! I will save you, I promise…!”
But Noel’s cry was answered by a loud, deafening laugh.
“Hahaha! Save her? That’s one-sided! I’ll tell you the truth as a gift to the underworld! She willingly accepted me!”
“Eh…?”
Noel stood there stunned.
“What do you mean… that she willingly accepted it…?”
“Fu, hahaha! You want to know why and how this woman became obsessed with me. Then let me show you what happened that day… the truth about this woman!”
The ice spirit reared its arm, and a curtain of blizzard surrounded Lexia and the others.
A scene was projected onto the gray veil.
“W-what is that…?”
Lexia stared in surprise.
What was projected there was Flora’s past.
