Part 4
Meanwhile, a rocky shade away from the ice spirit.
“Nee-san… Nee-san…!”
“N… Noe, l…?”
Flora slightly opened her eyelids.
Seeing Noel peering at her with a tearful face, tears welled up in her eyes.
“Oh, Noel… I’m so sorry, I…”
Noel shook her head as she burst into tears.
“No, it’s me who should apologize. I’m sorry I’m always short of words. I can’t make my dream come true without you, Nee-san. To save the people of this country, I need your help. Please, lend me your power. I want you to fight with me.”
“Noel… but I don’t have the power…”
Flora’s eyes flicker.
Flora knew that her magic was inferior to Noel’s firepower because of her bloody efforts.
But Noel shook his head.
She put her hand on the magic gun she had assembled.
“I’ve modified this magic gun to match Nee-san’s magic. I want you to put your magic into it.”
“Eh?”
Noel, who got the hint from Usagi’s advice, had been making improvements and adjustments in preparation for the battle with the ice spirit.
“If it is this magic gun, it will surely defeat the ice spirit. But if you make even the slightest mistake in controlling the magic, it will explode… We won’t be safe either. But Nee-san can do it… No, only you are the one who can do it. Only you can defeat the ice spirit.”
“Noel…”
Noel took Flora’s hand.
Because she learned the importance of communicating through her journey with Lexia and others, she spins her words carefully and wholeheartedly.
“I know more than anyone. I know more than anyone else that your magic is amazing. You’ve been working hard and practicing magic for a long time. I’ve been watching you closely for a long time.”
“…..!”
Looking straight at Flora, who was at a loss for words, Noel laughed softly.
“I want to eat the stew Nee-san made again. Let’s defeat the ice spirit together and go back to our house. Then we can eat the stew we didn’t get to eat that day.”
“Yeah…!”
The sisters, who were finally reunited, hugged each other tightly.
***
The ice spirit fights as it witnesses the ice army being crushed by Luna and Tito.
“Wha…!? My army, which has driven even the imperial army and magicians to the brink of destruction, can’t do a thing against these little girls…? Who the hell are these little girls?”
“Your ambition ends here! You will pay for tormenting Flora-san and tormenting the people of the empire!”
Luna and Tito joined Lexia as she pointed her finger at the ice spirit.
But the ice spirit’s eyes were distorted, and it roared furiously.
“Don’t make me laugh! I am a mystery that has lived since ancient times! Don’t think that a half-baked attack will work──”
Halfway through these words, a dazzling radiance burst forth from a distant place.
The ice spirit’s eyes widened.
“!? That’s…!”
Far ahead, Noel is holding the magic gun, and Flora can be seen with her hand on it.
And every time Flora chanted a spell, powerful magic converged on the magic gun.
The tremendous amount of magic power made even the ice spirit that has lived since ancient times tremble.
“W-what in the world is that vessel trying to do?”
“Kishaaaaah!”
The ice serpent, newly created by the ice spirit, bared its fangs in an attempt to attack Noel and Flora.
“I won’t let you do it! Let’s kick them all together, Tito! Boisterous Dance!”
“Yes! Claw Concert!”
“Guh…!”
Luna and Tito slice through the ice serpent and hold back the ice spirit.
“We will hold the ice spirit back! Noel, Flora-san, please be sure to stop it!”
At the sound of Lexia’s voice, Noel nodded as she adjusted the sights of her magic gun.
“Yes! Nee-san, we can still go…!”
“Yes…!”
A mighty wind magic swirled from Flora’s hand and flowed into the barrel of the gun.
“Not yet… not yet, just a little more…!”
The energy builds up to its limit, just as Usagi had taught her.
The dazzling brilliance that overflowed with Flora’s chanting blindsided Lexia.
“N-no way, that magic… is so delicately controlled! It’s much harder than just casting a spell!”
“And what an incredible amount of magic power…! An ordinary magician would have run out of magic by now…!”
“What a strong and gentle light… I’ve never seen magic like that…!”
To control magic delicately and maintain a constant output is not something that can be done with natural talent alone but requires many years of study.
Flora’s efforts have now borne fruit.
“W-what is that, that brightness? Ridiculous, a mere human being could create that much magic power…! Oh, shit! Get out of my way!”
The ice spirit tries to attack with the ice serpent but is blocked by Luna and Tito.
“Ugh…! I won’t allow it; I won’t allow it! You insignificant little girls…! I’ll put you all in ice all together…!”
A moment later, the ice spirit tried to gather power to create a new ice serpent.
The barrel of the gun, infused with magic to its limit, shone dazzlingly.
Lexia shouted in a high voice.
“Noel, Flora-san! Now!”
“Nee-san!”
“Yes!”
Flora nodded, and Noel pulled the trigger.
“”Fire!””
The sisters’ combined power fired a magic bullet from the muzzle, and it approached the ice spirit with the wind whipping around it.
And then.
Paaannng!
The magic bullet, which was filled with magic to the utmost limit and squeezed, shot through the ice spirit without missing its aim.
“Wha…──”
In the momentary silence, the ice spirit, which had been pierced through a hole in the center of the body, let out a wrinkled voice.
The dark blue eyes, widened in disbelief, were drawn to Noel and Flora, who had shot it out of themselves.
“No way… lowly humans… I was defeated by two little girls…! O-oh aaaaaahhh… aaaaaahhh!”
The shockwave of the magic bullet, which came late, blew away the ice spirit without leaving any dust.
***
After the ice spirit is gone.
“…Looks like it’s over.”
Luna muttered, and Tito looked up at the sky and gasped.
“The clouds are…!”
The clouds that had been hanging thickly over the city were breaking apart, and dazzling moonlight was shining through.
The clouds parted from the sky above the imperial capital, and the curse that had covered the entire country cleared away.
Looking up at the stars in the sky, Lexia let out a breath and laughed.
“I haven’t seen the stars in days!”
The people of the imperial city came outside, lured by the pouring moonlight.
“I-it’s the moon… I can see the moon…!”
“The blizzard has stopped! It’s all over…!”
“Those girls have won! They saved the capital; they saved the Romel Empire!”
Under the starry night sky.
Flora, who had poured her magic to the limit, was breathing on her shoulders.
“Hah… hah… did we… do it…?”
“Nee-san!”
“Kyaaa!?”
Noel hugged her as hard as she could, and Flora was surprised.
“We did it, we did it, we defeated the ice spirit! I knew it; your magic is amazing, Nee-san!”
“Noel… No, it was because of your magic tools. I couldn’t have defeated it alone. …And because of my weak heart, I put everyone through a hard time.”
Looking over at the people of the imperial capital who were rejoicing under the starry sky, Flora’s face twisted sadly.
“I can no longer stay in this country. I’m going to leave the country and go somewhere far away to live while atoning for my sins.”
“What are you talking about? Everyone is not blaming you. They are waiting for your return. This country and I will need your help from now on. That’s why…”
“No, Noel. I don’t deserve to be with you…”
Then Noel cut in abruptly.
“You’re not good at baking, are you, Nee-san?”
“Eh?”
“You’re a good cook, but you can’t help but burn the bread, can you? So… I’ll bake the bread, you make the stew. I really like your stew, after all.”
“Noel…”
“I’m sorry I didn’t realize how painful and sad you were all these years. I’m sorry I didn’t express myself well enough, and I’m sorry I pushed you into a corner. This time, I will tell you. I love you, I respect you more than anyone else in the world, and I’m counting on you. I need you, and the Romel Empire needs you.”
Noel looked Flora straight in the eye and held her hand.
“What you are not good at, I will do. So, what I can’t do, you can help me with. Let’s continue to work together for the sake of the Romel Empire.”
Flora was speechless, but eventually, with a trembling voice, she burst into tears.
“Thank you… Noel…”
The imperial capital was filled with cheers.
The sisters embraced each other tightly, and Lexia and the others shouted refreshingly as they looked on.
“This settles the matter, doesn’t it?”
“Yes! I’m glad they were able to reconcile!”
“Good grief, I can’t wait for the sun to shine tomorrow.”
White breath melted into the clear night sky.
The Romel Empire, which had been closed off by a cursed blizzard, finally had a moment of sunshine.
