Here’s the chapter. Enjoy~
Part 3
“It’s somewhere around here!”
Lexia and the others had followed the prince and the others through the forest and had arrived at the Lake of Sorrow.
“A-amazing, we really arrived…!”
“Wow, it’s a big lake!”
“So this is the Lake of Sorrow. The fog is so thick.”
It was a huge lake surrounded by steep cliffs and forests.
The area around the lake was foggy, and the shore was white and misty.
“Somewhere in this lake, there is a shard of the Mirror of Truth…”
“The Emperor told you to get one for each of them, so there must be at least four! Let’s find them right away!”
“Wait. It would be inconvenient if we were interrupted on the way; let’s scout out the other princes first.”
“Yes! I hear voices from around the cliff!”
Following Tito’s lead, they moved through the forest, taking cover.
When they came out of the thicket, they saw Prince Lu Won climbing up the cliff.
“There’s a mirror fragment up here! I must get it before anyone else!”
“Lu-Lu Won-sama, wait for me…!”
“Hyiii, i-it’s too high…!”
The cliff is so high that it pierces through the fog, and the followers are completely intimidated.
Lu Won, who is leading the way, also climbs the cliff by manipulating the dragon’s power in the form of a giant arm, but it is different from battle, and he seems to have a hard time with it.
“Prince Lu Won must have already found the mirror fragment!”
Further into the forest, they found Mao submerged in a muddy swamp.
“Damn, why is it so hard to reach…! Even my dragon power serpent can’t walk on the mud…!”
“Ugh, my body is sinking…”
“I can’t move forward at all…!”
Apparently, there is a piece of mirror deep in the muddy swamp.
Mao and his followers are waist-deep in mud, desperately wading in the mud to move forward.
At the same time, Yue’s voice echoed from a cave elsewhere.
“Hey, what’s going on in this cave? I can see the mirror piece, but why can’t I get to it?”
“Yo-Your Highness Yue, I have been sent back to the exit again…!”
“What is this cave…?”
It seemed that the inside of the cave was a complicated labyrinth, and even the followers seemed to be lost.
“It looks like everyone has already found the mirror fragment!”
“They beat us to it…”
“But all three of them seem to be struggling a lot. For now, there seems to be no danger of interference.”
“Let’s hurry and look for them as well!”
Keeping a distance from the other princes and princesses, they searched the area around the lake.
Then, Xiaolin pointed to the lake.
“L-look at that island!”
There was a small floating island in the middle of the lake.
On its shore, there was something reflecting light.
“It’s a mirror fragment!”
“It’s true!”
Next to Lexia, Tito’s eyes lit up, but she suddenly tilted her head.
“…But even though it’s in such an obvious place, didn’t the other princes and the princess notice it?”
“Sure, we didn’t notice it right away because we were watching the princes and princesses for a while first, but if you walk along the shore a little bit, you should be the first to find it… Is there any reason why no one has been able to get their hands on it…?”
“The details don’t matter! If we could just cross that lake, getting it would be much easier than the other fragments!”
“But how do we get across…?”
Lexia looks around, and her face lights up.
“Look, there’s a log right there!”
Lexia was right; there were some suitable logs scattered along the shore.
“If we put them together, we can make a raft.”
“But why are there so many perfect logs lying around?”
“Isn’t it too convenient…?”
“I’m sure His Majesty the Emperor is behind this! Fufu, the princes, and the princess talked big, but it’s not good enough that they overlooked the clues that were given to them!”
Despite Luna and the others, Lexia searched her luggage with great enthusiasm.
“If we’re going to build a raft, we need some rope! I’m pretty sure I have some in my pack…”
But all she found in her backpack was an insect net, candy, and a romance novel.
“That’s strange; I thought I left all that stuff in my bag properly.”
“I told you to keep it in order.”
Then Xiaolin approached and spotted a rope lying on the shore.
“Huh? There’s a rope over here.”
“Th-there’s even a rope?”
“It’s too unnatural. There is also a broken log, as if something had destroyed it… Maybe──”
Luna looked up in surprise.
“Gekoooooooooo!”
A pillar of water rose, and a giant frog jumped out of the lake.
“Kyaaaaa!?”
“Wha… Poison Toad?”
The Poison Toad is a freshwater monster that preys on its prey by paralyzing them with poisonous mucus.
Before Luna and Tito could get into their fighting stance, the frog spat its mucus at Xiaolin.
“Gekooooo!”
“Kyaaaa!”
“Watch out, Xiaolin-sama!”
Lexia jumped out. In her hand was a beautiful shield like a snowflake──the Shield of Six Flowers.
“I won’t let you do that!”
Psshh!
Lexia blocked the mucus that tried to cover Xiaolin with the shield.
Meanwhile, Luna’s strings and Tito’s claws flashed.
“Boisterous Dance!”
“Claw Flash!”
“Gekooooooo.”
The frog was shredded in an instant and disappeared in a particle of light.
“Phew, that was close! Are you hurt, Xiaolin-sama?”
“Th-thank you, Lexia-san…!”
“Fufu, it is only natural to protect your friends. I’m glad you’re okay!”
“It’s the first time I’ve seen this monster. Is it a unique Eastern monster?”
“Yes. I know its name, but this is the first time I’ve seen it in person.”
Xiaolin’s eyes light up when she sees Luna and Tito, who are not even out of breath.
“Luna-san and Tito-san are very strong! The Poison Toad is a vicious monster that can only be defeated by a group of elite soldiers, but you defeated it so easily…!”
“Fufufu, right? With Luna and Tito, we’ll be fine no matter what kind of monsters attack us!”
Lexia puffed out her chest, but then she looked down at the mucus-covered shield.
“Ara, the shield is sticky.”
“It’s a national treasure; you should take better care of it…”
“Huh? That’s how a shield should be used, right?”
“That’s right, but you use it too casually…!”
“Geko, geko geko…!”
Halfway through Luna’s comment, a disturbing chorus echoed from the lake.
When they looked, they saw a large number of frogs peeking out of the water and staring at them.
“I see. There are dangerous monsters in the lake, and they can’t get close to it, so no one has touched this mirror fragment…!”
“This log must have been the remains of a raft that one of the princes and the princess abandoned after being attacked.”
Luna crossed her arms and looked over at the eyes glittering eerily off the shore.
“The raft will probably be destroyed in no time. We’ll have to find another way.”
“But there’s no other way to cross the lake…”
Xiaolin lowered her eyebrows.
While Luna and the others were seriously scratching their heads, Lexia swung the shield around, trying to get rid of the sticky mucus.
“Gosh! I can’t get rid of this slime at all! Do you think washing it will get it off?”
Lexia asked as she dipped the shield into the water,
Crackle, crackle, crackle!
A thick layer of ice formed around the shield.
“Eeeehhhhh! The lake is frozen!”
“Wha! The Shield of Six Flowers has that effect?”
“Noel-san was talking about the ‘amazing effect,’ isn’t that what she was talking about…!”
“W-what on earth does that mean…?”
The frogs in the sea looked quizzically at the unexpected situation.
The four of them tried to get onto the ice, but there seemed to be no problem.
“Wow, I think we can make it to the small island…!”
“I did it! As expected of me!”
“No, it’s obviously just a coincidence.”
Lexia held up the shield in triumph.
“I will use this shield to make a path through the ice! Let’s get to that floating island right away!”
“Yes!”
“However, monster attacks will be inevitable. Can you make it, Xiaolin?”
On the surface of the lake, a large number of monsters were waiting for them.
Xiaolin pulled out her twin swords with a nervous look on her face.
“I’ll do my best…!”
“Come on, let’s go!”
The four of them ran onto the ice at once, Lexia’s voice as their signal.
***
“Gekoooooooooo!”
The frogs jumped onto the ice as if waiting for Luna, who was running in front.
Luna waved her hands sharply.
“Boisterous Dance!”
Slice, slice, slice!
The wildly dancing strings swept away the swarms of frogs in an instant.
“Ge-gekoooo…!”
Watching the monsters disappear without a scream, Lexia’s cheeks rose in excitement.
“That’s amazing, Luna; you’re getting stronger again, aren’t you? I can’t believe that you defeated all of them at once!”
“Compared to the training that Usagi-sama gave me in the Romel Empire, this is nothing.”
When Luna exhaled slightly, the surface of the water behind Lexia rose.
“! Lexia, move away!”
“Eh? ──Kyaaa!?”
Luna jumped back with Lexia in her arms.
Immediately after,
Zugagagagaga!
Hundreds of transparent drills pierced the place where Lexia was.
“What? Water drills…?”
“Gikiiiiiiiiiiiiii…!”
From the surface of the water, an eerie shadow appeared on the ice.
It was a giant caterpillar. It was transparent like water, and its body surface was wavy.
“What in the world is that thing?”
“Is that the Lake Worm?”
“Gishaaaaaah!”
The Lake Worm opened its mouth and shot a water drill at Luna.
Luna jumped and dodged it, waving her hands sharply.
“Boisterous Dance!”
The strings that should have sliced through even the orcs slipped through the transparent body.
“No way, Luna’s attack is ineffective…!”
“I see it has the same properties as water. It is quite annoying that the slash does not work. But…”
“Gigiiiiiiiii!”
The Lake Worm leaps at Luna and tries to bite her.
“Luna, look out!”
Before Lexia can even scream.
“If I can’t cut it, I’ll just blow the whole thing up──Spiral!”
Gyaririririri!
A bundle of drill strings pierced Lake Worm’s torso.
“Gishaaaaaaaah!?”
The water body turned into drops and splashes, and the Lake Worm disappeared.
Lexia cheered.
“As expected of my Luna, you’re the coolest! I’ll try my best, too!”
She picked up the Shield of Six Flowers and waved it around, determined not to be outdone.
“Hey, this is a treasure that contains the power of a special spirit; treat it with more care──”
Halfway through Luna’s words, the shield fell out of Lexia’s hand.
“Ah!”
“Lexia──!”
The shield flew away and accidentally hit a jelly-like monster sneaking up behind Luna.
“Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!”
Bishi! Bishi, bishi!
Luna’s eyes widened at the sight of the jelly-like monster, which quickly turned to ice.
“Sludge Slime, huh…! A dangerous monster that sneaks up on its prey takes it into its body, and digests it… but it looks like it was no match for the Shield of Six Flowers.”
“It’s amazing that I could freeze such a monster!”
“No, you just slipped while swinging the shield.”
“Huh, wait a minute! With this shield, I can freeze dessert jellies and carry them with me!”
“As I said, don’t use the supreme treasure of the ice powerhouse as if it were a tool of convenience!”
Lexia ignored Luna’s murmur and extended the ice path with the Shield of Six Flowers.
“Come on, let’s keep going!”
