Chapter 2579 - Demon Realm Amusement Park ⑩

The dragon lover Lilia-san said it was rare, that it had an overwhelmingly imposing appearance, and Falcon, our guide, had hinted at something like “Could it be……?”. Given that it was a large species, this Miragaia was probably the main attraction monster of this ride.

When the Miragaia turned toward the coaster and let out a tremendous roar, the coaster shook in response, then spun around another 180 degrees to face forward once more.

“Anyway, we’re running at full speed!”

At Falcon’s words, the coaster started moving faster than ever before, and together with the heavy footsteps thundering behind us, I saw a gigantic fireball streak past beside the coaster.

“D*mn it, it’s even breathing fireballs now!? And Miragaia’s incredibly fast, at this rate, it’s going to catch us……!”

[K- Kinda getting tense now. Kyaa!? The sounds and lights are amazing, this feels so intense!]

[Yeah. It’s not as fast as a real roller coaster, so we can still talk, but it’s still pretty quick, and with all these sharp turns it really feels like we’re hitting the climax.]

I nodded in agreement with Hina-chan, who spoke excitedly. As she said, this had incredible intensity and tension. Since it felt like we were being chased from behind, we couldn’t actually see the Miragaia itself, but various dragons kept appearing ahead of us as we fled while avoiding them. Fireballs blasted other dragons away, explosions erupted when they struck the cave walls, rocks came crashing down, it was all spectacularly overwhelming.

At times, the Miragaia would even catch up to us, and we’d slip beneath its legs before escaping again, making it all feel incredibly nerve-racking.

“……!? W- What is this chamber……? And that jewel……”

After fleeing from Miragaia for a while, we arrived in an unusually vast space. Countless dragons could be seen there, and at the center floated a jewel emitting an eerie purple glow.

It was as though the jewel itself was drawing the dragons toward it, and in fact, even when we entered the chamber, none of the dragons paid us any attention.

Before long, the coaster changed direction again, allowing us to see the Miragaia entering the chamber in pursuit of us…… but the very next moment, the Miragaia shifted its attention away from us and towards the jewel instead, moving directly toward it.

“Could it be, that’s the legendary treasure said to lure dragons…… the Dragon Orb!? I see now, that’s why this rocky mountain is home to so many different dragons……”

If I remembered correctly, those treasures were something like OOPArts. Apparently, most of them had been experimental creations Shiro-san made long ago and scattered throughout the world. Maybe that Dragon Orb was one too? No, the Dragon Orb here was probably just a prop for the attraction, but honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if an item like that really existed.

(That’s rather rude. I have never created an item that attracts dragons.)

Ahh, so you didn’t make one. So this Dragon Orb was simply an original treasure made up for the attraction’s setting. Sorry, I jumped to conclusions there…… hm? You said you never made an item that attracts dragons “specifically”? So things like treasures that attract monsters in general, including those that aren’t dragons……

(…………Wouldn’t it be better to focus on the attraction?)

That reaction definitely means you’ve made something like that before, doesn’t it……!? Well, I guess Shiro-san’s right. Even if I worried about it now, there wasn’t much I could do about it…… better focus on the attraction.

“Did we…… survive? Still, this is far beyond what a mere adventurer can handle. We’ll need the guild to organize a large-scale recovery force…… For now, let’s bring this information back. Fortunately, the dragons are completely absorbed in the Dragon Orb and aren’t paying attention to us…… no, wait. If I remember right, the legends say the Dragon Orb attracts dragons at fixed intervals……”

As the coaster gradually slowed down and Falcon’s explanations became the main focus again, right after Falcon muttered something ominous, the eerie glow emitted by the Dragon Orb vanished, almost as if following a classic setup.

From the explanation, it seemed the Dragon Orb was a treasure that repeated a cycle of activation and dormancy, and now, it had entered its dormant phase, causing its power to attract dragons to disappear.

And the very next instant…… the countless dragons in the chamber all turned their gazes toward us at once…… the sheer pressure was unbelievable……

“R- RUUUUUUN!”

The coaster spun back to face forward and suddenly shot off at a speed comparable to a real roller coaster. A moment later, layered roars shook the air itself, accompanied by footsteps rumbling like an earthquake.

From there on, it was absolute chaos. Dragons of every kind kept catching up to us one after another, only to be blown away by other dragons in the frenzy, while fireballs, lightning, and all sorts of attacks came flying nonstop. It truly felt like the climax of the attraction.

As we continued fleeing through the chaos, a faint light finally appeared far ahead in our line of sight.

“The exit!? Hurry, get outside at full speed!!”

The coaster charged toward the light at tremendous speed, but…… this was a splash-type coaster, wasn’t it? And there had been that huge lake near the rocky mountain, plus all those hints about the relationship between the mountain and the lake…… which meant the punchline of this attraction was probably……

“Alright, we’re outsi———– huh?”

Bursting out into blinding light, we emerged exactly where I expected, high up along the rocky mountain, with a gigantic lake spread out beneath us…… and from there, the result was obvious.

“Ah, we’re fal…… uwaaaahhh!?”

That’s right, we plunged straight down toward the lake. From a tremendous height, the coaster dove in one swift drop, sending up an enormous splash. The coaster itself seemed protected by magic, so we didn’t actually end up soaked, but even so, it had been an incredibly intense attraction. With a faint lingering sense of weightlessness still clinging to my body, that was all I could think.

<Jewel of Vaulted Heaven>

A jewel that indiscriminately attracts monsters within a radius of several kilometers. If abused, it could even artificially trigger a Stampede, making it a dangerous treasure designated for sealing.

As usual, it was one of the artifacts Shiro created and scattered around during one of her treasure-making sprees.

While it can be switched on and off, it has absolutely no usage restrictions, meaning even a child fiddling with it could accidentally activate it, making it extremely dangerous. Several tens of thousands of years ago, Kuromueina retrieved it with an exasperated expression and sealed it away.

Even now, it remains in the possession of the Underworld King Kuromueina, sealed and stored within the subspace inside her coat.

<Jewel of Regulated Heaven>

It is believed to be one of the secret treasures, but at present, its effects are completely unknown, and nobody understands what it is used for. As such, it is displayed in the treasure museum of the Hydra Kingdom as a “treasure of unknown purpose”.

Its true ability is to “freely control the monsters attracted by the Jewel of Vaulted Heaven”. However, since it only works on monsters under the influence of the Jewel of Vaulted Heaven, and Kuromueina has already sealed that treasure away, the activation conditions can no longer be fulfilled. As a result, it is, quite literally, nothing more than an ordinary jewel now.
