Chapter 2582 - Demon Realm Amusement Park ⑬
Now then, just how impressive was the Sonic Coaster, which prided itself on speed……? It was insanely fast. This was the default speed setting, right? It was seriously incredible. Hina-chan and the others were letting out excited screams as well, so they were probably experiencing the same tremendous speed I was.
How should I put it? If I had to describe it, it was terrifying because it felt realistically fast…… For example, in terms of pure speed, being carried by Amel-san was much faster, but in that case, it was so fast that I couldn’t even see the scenery, and she would use protective magic to block things like wind pressure, so it was surprisingly difficult to truly feel the speed.
The Sonic Coaster, on the other hand, was fast, the wind was intense, and the G-forces during the turns were incredible. It genuinely felt like I was being tossed around by tremendous speed, making it much easier to experience just how fast it really was.
[W- Wow, that was amazing…… I wondered what it would feel like to alter your perceived speed, but it really was unbelievably fast and scary.]
[It really was a strange sensation. Thinking about it calmly, that level of speed should be something we can achieve with Body Strengthening Magic, yet it felt unbelievably fast. The wind pressure felt incredible too. So that’s what changing perceived speed feels like……]
Listening to Hina-chan and Aoi-chan talk, I roughly understood what was happening. The actual speed they experienced was the same as what I experienced, but thanks to the alteration of their perceived speed, something that normally wouldn’t feel particularly fast to them instead felt overwhelmingly fast.
Hearing that, it really did sound like a type of debuff magic.
[How was it for you, Lilia-san?]
[It was wonderful. It feels like it’s been a long time since I truly experienced such speed. Perhaps you could say it made me feel like a child again, reminding me of how I felt the first time I rode in a carriage. It’s been so long since a vehicle felt faster than my own feet.]
When I asked Lilia-san, she looked slightly surprised, yet somehow happy. Indeed, for Lilia-san, almost everything was slower than running herself, so the sensation of riding something that actually felt fast must have been quite refreshing.
The others seemed to feel similarly. While they were confused and surprised by sensations they rarely experienced, they all found the experience fresh and enjoyable.
The fact that even people with naturally extraordinary physical abilities could enjoy it showed just how thoughtfully designed this amusement park was. At this rate, I was sure we’d continue having a great time.
[So, what should we do next? We ended up riding it out of curiosity, but we originally planned our schedule with plenty of spare time. Shall we head to the ocean-themed area as planned?]
[I think that’s fine, but what about you, Hina-chan?]
[Let’s go! Even though we already rode the Splash Coaster, it’d be a waste not to visit that huge waterfront area they prepared!]
The Sonic Coaster hadn’t originally been part of the plan. After Dragon Adventure, we had intended to try something in the waterfront area, so Caraway asked to confirm our next move.
In fact, we’d only planned about two attractions per area because we’d intentionally left room for spur-of-the-moment rides if something else caught our interest. Time wasn’t an issue at all.
It also helped that we hadn’t needed to wait in line for either Dragon Adventure or the Sonic Coaster. That said, Hina-chan was effectively the one directing our group’s course right now, so after checking with her, we decided to head to the waterfront area as originally planned.
Using the Fast Road, we made our way there, and…… At first glance, it looked almost exactly like the ocean.
Of course, it was an artificial environment created inside the theme park, but there was a sandy beach, rolling waves…… And for some reason, you could even see the horizon.
[……Isn’t it a bit strange, size-wise, that we can actually see the horizon?]
[I imagine it’s simply an illusion projected onto the walls to make it appear that way, but seeing it like this, it really does look exactly like the sea.]
At my murmur, Sieg-san nodded with an impressed expression on her face. It really did seem to be an incredibly well-crafted theme park, and they had clearly paid close attention to the atmosphere as well.
Still, with this area looking this perfectly like the ocean, it was hard to imagine what kinds of attractions they had just from a glance. If anything, it almost felt like putting on a swimsuit and swimming at the beach would fit the setting better.
[So, Hina-chan, what do you want to do?]
[……Judging by the atmosphere, I bet they have attractions where you ride boats or ships. There might also be something like an underwater tunnel, but if possible, I’d like to try one that’s out on the water.]
[I see…… According to the brochure, the nearest one is…… something called Kraken Cruise…… Could it be a horror attraction?]
[No, wouldn’t it be more like a panic attraction? Like one of those shark-themed rides where a ship gets attacked by a kraken while trying to escape.]
[Ah, I see. Yeah, that’s definitely a classic setup……]
When it came to boat attractions, the image of a panic ride involving a shark attack was something commonly associated with theme parks. The idea of being attacked by sharks was heavily influenced by movies, but in this world, perhaps krakens filled the role of the classic sea monster that attacked ships instead.
After discussing it with everyone else, we ultimately decided to head to the Kraken Cruise, and once again, we used the Fast Road to travel there. Being able to set an attraction as the destination and move there directly once we’d decided where to go was incredibly convenient.
<Afterword>
Serious-senpai : [What are the chances that this Kraken Cruise turns into an incredibly serious development!?]
? ? ? : [About the same as the chances of Serious-senpai appearing in the main story outside of an April Fools Extra Chapters.]
Serious-senpai : [……In other words, it’s not zero?]
