Chapter 2587 - Demon Realm Amusement Park ⑱

As we headed toward the Sky Tree, I found myself wondering what kind of attraction it actually was. In the Forest Area, which was divided into upper and lower sections, the attractions Alice had recommended were the Sky Tree and the Forest Castle.

At the very least, judging from the name, Forest Castle probably had nothing to do with the upper section. If so, then the Sky Tree was likely the attraction connected to it somehow.

The image of the Sky Tree from my original world kept coming to mind, but even if it turned out to be something like an observation deck…… that wouldn’t be bad either.

If it offered a view of the upper section, it would be enjoyable just for the atmosphere alone. The Forest Area was lush with greenery, so it would probably be nice simply in terms of scenery as well.

While thinking about that, we eventually arrived at the Sky Tree attraction and headed to the reception area. The attraction allowed a maximum of four riders per group, so after discussing it, we split up into groups: me, Aoi-chan, and Hina-chan; Lilia-san, Luna-san, and Sieg-san; and Anima, Caraway, Eta, and Theta.

The limit wasn’t for the attraction itself, but for the gondola-like vehicle used in it, so there was no need to wait for one group to finish before the next could ride.

[Hmm…… What exactly is this, I wonder? From the outside it just looked like a giant tree……]

[It’s called the Sky Tree, so I imagine it goes upward somehow, doesn’t it?]

Aoi-chan, Hina-chan, and I were the first to ride, and we climbed into the gondola. It was circular in shape, with no windows, just railings…… Maybe the best comparison would be a large coffee cup ride with a roof attached. In any case, we got inside and took our seats.

[A fall-prevention spell has been applied, so there is no risk of falling. However, for your safety, please refrain from leaning out.]

After the attendant gave the warning and closed the gate we’d entered through, bands of light emerged from our seats and secured our shoulders and waists.

[……Arehh? If they’re fastening us down this securely……]

[Kaito-senpai, Aoi-senpai…… Could this be one of those rides that launches you upward?]

[What a coincidence. I was thinking the exact same thing.]

Hina-chan and Aoi-chan reacted to my muttering. Just securing our waists would have been one thing…… but fastening our shoulders this firmly too? That probably meant this ride shot upward at tremendous speed.

Maybe it was some kind of free-fall attraction? But if so, the scenery wasn’t very good, considering we seemed to be inside the tree’s trunk…… If anything, it felt more like we were about to launch from a secret base.

The moment that thought crossed my mind, glowing numbers formed from magical energy appeared before us. As the countdown reached zero, the gondola shot upward at an incredible speed, just as I’d expected.

We raced through the dark interior of the trunk, climbing at a breathtaking pace…… Then, in the next instant, a dazzling brightness hit my eyes and the view suddenly opened up. If I had to describe it, it was as though the tree trunk had been turned into the barrel of a cannon and our gondola had been fired out of it. The blue sky burst into view all at once, and just as the gondola’s ascent came to a stop, the ceiling above us unfolded like flower petals and began to rotate.

At the same time, the magical energy restraining our bodies vanished, allowing us to move freely again.

[Amazing……]

Hearing the awestruck voices of Hina-chan and Aoi-chan, I found myself holding my breath as well. The sight before us was truly worthy of being called breathtaking.

Launched high into the sky, we sat within the gondola as the petal-like ceiling spun like a propeller, keeping us suspended in the air. From there, the entirety of the Forest Area stretched out below us.

It looked like a vast carpet of leaves, and beyond it we could see all sorts of buildings that were presumably attractions in the upper area.

Before long, the gondola began moving slowly, taking a route that circled around the outer edge of the Forest Area.

[I- I see, so this is that kind of attraction…… We circle around the entire Forest Area while getting a full view of the upper section……]

[Looks that way. If you look closely, there are bands of magic power stretching out ahead, and it seems to be following those routes…… It’s kind of like a gondola lift, I guess.]

[The atmosphere up there is completely different from the lower area. Is it designed so people can walk on top of the leaves?]

Now I understood why Alice had recommended this attraction. Riding it allowed you to get a thorough look at the upper section of the Forest Area, and the buildings themselves were fun to observe from above. Many were shaped like flowers or constructed from wood with vivid decorative designs, making the scenery all the more enjoyable.

[……Looking closely, it seems they’re not actually leaves. It looks more like solid ground underfoot.]

[They’ve just created the impression of walking on leaves. It’s more like a huge bridge or walkway.]

[Ah, Kaito-senpai, Aoi-senpai, look over there! That thing is enormous! What kind of attraction do you think it is?]

The initial ascent had been incredibly fast, but now we were moving along at a comfortable pace. Relaxing in the gondola, the three of us leisurely enjoyed the scenery spread out before us.
