I Will Create a Good Ending for the Yandere Villainess

Chapter 572: First Part to Attendant?

Chapter 572: First Part to Attendant?

Once Marionette and Lillian arrived outside, they were swiftly met with the sight of the mansion’s servants setting up what could only be an obstacle course of things.

From naked tables in need of their cloth to mobile kitchens with an array of ingredients to a target range with a set of throwing knives, etc. Apart from a few, the target range and a few others, most of these obstacles looked like tasks that servants would undertake.

It was truly a wonder how many things were spared after what had happened last night.

They then turned their heads to the side, finding the Gardener walking over to them with a clipboard in hand, previously standing off to the side.

"You two decided to come out, finally. Did you two enjoy the rest you’ve been given?"

Marionette gave a brief nod, her arm hooked tightly around Lillian’s; she was still in a foul mood from earlier. Thus, it was up to the Rabbit to give a verbal response.

Lillian smiled and nodded, bowing a little.

She then spoke in a grateful tone, "It was splendid, Sir Gardener. And I’m grateful that you’ve allowed both me and Marionette to rest after what occurred last night."

The Gardener nodded at Lillian’s words while simultaneously giving Marionette a perplexed side eye.

If it wasn’t for the fact that his niece wasn’t clinging to the maid’s arm, he would’ve thought the two had a lovers’ quarrel due to how irritated Marionette looked. It was either that, or his niece had encountered the Thorn of Roses on the way here, which was perhaps the most likely reason.

Gardener of Roses briefly glanced at Lillian’s neck, barely able to make out a small red mark on the Rabbit’s skin. His eyes twitched a bit. He could definitely cross out the scenario of a lover’s quarrel.

Sighing, he decided not to speak about it - with the risk that Marionette might suddenly explode - he shifted his gaze to Lillian’s shoulder.

"So, how’s your shoulder?" He asked, his eyes glancing over the blood stain on her clothes, "I believe my niece bit quite deep into you."

Lillian smiled crookedly as she subconsciously placed a hand over her shoulder; she could already remember the stinging pain of having the flesh in her shoulder torn out.

It wasn’t the most pleasing experience compared to the... Bites in bed. But it was definitely something she hadn’t expected; she hadn’t remembered any scenarios where Marionette bit someone before...

’Not like I expected everything to be one-to-one with the game.’

With her appearance, there had obviously been changes. Now, what may have occurred for Marionette to now have the urge to bite? Or better yet, had already progressed to this stage with the Corruption.

Lillian side-eyed Marionette.

’She must’ve undergone the surgery much sooner than I had remembered...’

The True Darkness was one of the more patient Corruptions out of the ones that existed, but also one of the more likely to drive a person insane enough for them to hand over their body to its control.

Just like how the Catacomb Dweller back in their Trial into the 2nd Tier lost control. By becoming the True Darkness’s host, it soon lost its strength to resist the Corruption’s control - leading it to become a corrupted and stronger variant.

As Lillian was deep in her thoughts, she was slowly being shown the way to the start of the obstacle. And once she had returned to reality, she had found herself surrounded by four servants - one whom she recognised the most.

Black hair tied into a bun with steel hairpins, yellow eyes, and stood at the height of 5ft11 - taller than Lillian.

Elara Voss.

These were the servants chosen to compete for the role of attendant.

Elara shot Lillian a suspicious gaze before huffing and turning away, preparing herself for the race ahead.

When Thorn of Roses finally returned from the restroom, both she and the Gardener took their places behind a seat, along with Marionette, who felt her body itch with irritation.

She itched, not just the fact that she was near her aunt, but that she was now separated from Lillian again.

Marionette folded her arms, tapping her index finger against the side of her arm impatiently - garnering a cold turn from the Gardener, which she met head-on.

The Gardener soon drew back his gaze, sighing as he didn’t want to bother dealing with his niece and decided to announce to the servants to begin.

"We will be beginning soon. As you may already know, this competition is for whoever is capable enough to be the attendant for the Lady of Roses. Within 2 hours, you all must have finished this obstacle course - each area will be scored by three of us.

"The winner will be allowed to accompany the Lady of Roses, as well as being able to request which estate they would like to be stationed in after the Legacy Table.

"Now, without any further ado... I shall begin the countdown. When I say go, you all may begin your race."

The Gardener then raised his open hand, a singular finger for each number he counted down to.

"Five... Four... Three—go!"

Unfortunately, it seemed that counting down from five was something the Gardener wasn’t intending to do completely from the beginning.

Everyone sped past the beginning line, including Lillian, who was able to react to the skip in numbers.

With the speed expected of a Tier 3, Lillian was able to reach first before inevitably slowing down due to the obstacles before her. Cleaning, cooking, and dexterity tests, and more!

’For a role that basically just bodyguard work, there’s a lot of menial tasks involved!’

Lillian grabbed the handle of a frying pan as she moved to cook something, having now reached the mobile kitchen. Unfortunately, the other servants were slightly ahead of her.

Except for Elara, who was in the mobile kitchen beside her.

Due to the woman’s need for perfection, her speed for tasks had slowed down to Lillian’s pace. But in exchange, the obstacles she passed through were far more perfected than Lillian’s - causing the Rabbit to wryly smile.

After plating her dish, Lillian moved on to what seemed to be a knife-throwing course. While Lillian hadn’t had much practice throwing knives, she was able to get it to stick in the target, at least.

But after all the cleaning, cooking, and such, she finally got to an area she was most confident in.

Lillian picked up a plain steel sword given to her and faced the training dummy that was planted into the ground for her abuse.

With a swift and strong swing, Lillian swung her mana-imbued sword, causing an illusiory wave to explode out, crashing into the dummy and splitting it in half.

This was the Tidebreaker Slash in its non-verbal form.

"Ooo~" Thorn of Roses cooed, leaning her body against the table as she saw that Lillian was capable of swordsmanship of this level, "The Knight Realm? That’s definitely an extra point or two."

Turning her face towards her niece, she asked, "Were you aware of this, my dearest niece?"

Marionette shook her head while giving her aunt the stink eye. Since the start of the race, her aunt hadn’t stopped asking her questions about Lillian - it was getting on her nerves.

"I would appreciate it if you lessen your stare on Lillian. It’s inappropriate."

"Hm~? But it’s my job to. I’m a judge too, don’t you know? And I doubt you’ll be much of a fair judge, as well. I know for a fact you’re going to be biased."

"For once you finally understand me." Marionette huffed. She had no intentions of choosing anyone over Lillian, especially not when it was the most logical decision to.

A bunch of Tier 2 over a Tier 3? Unless the Tier 3 had a shit mana capacity and arsenal of abilities, which was highly unlikely, they would win without a doubt if it were a battle purely on abilities and skills alone, without tools allowed.

Once the race was finally over, it was time for the judges to start their scoring.

The three participants overcame every obstacle they went through, scoring one through ten on how they did.

Marionette strolled past the obstacles, writing down the scores of each participant, being a fair judge even towards Lillian. Soon, she reached the mobile kitchens.

Gulp.

The Assassin looked down at the food plated at Lillian’s mobile kitchen, her mouth watering. She hadn’t eaten in a while... The last time she ate was yesterday in the early afternoon.

And after this morning’s... Highly energy-draining activity, she was left with a rumbling stomach.

Sniff. Sniff.

Marionette’s nose twitched, the smell of Lillian’s home-cooked meal wafted into her nose, as though it was tempting her to eat it now, something she had intended the moment she set eyes on it.

Quickly setting aside her clipboard on the counter, Marionette went off in search of silverware, excited to dig into Lillian’s food. But the moment she returned, she found the food half-eaten.

Her eyes shook as she looked towards the person standing next to it.

Thorn of Roses wiped her mouth before putting back on her mask. She then glanced at her niece and smirked behind her mask, "I’ve had better. But I’ll be nice and give it... maybe a seven out of ten."

"T-... That was mine..."

"Oh, I’m aware. That’s why I set aside half for you." Thorn of Roses walked up to Marionette and patted her shoulder, smiling innocently, "Even after several hours of flight, I’m still nice enough not fall to gluttony. Do enjoy, niece."

Thorn of Roses then left to move on to the next obstacles to score, leaving Marionette to stare at the half-eaten food with regret. She then sighed and decided to leave it, unable to score it.

Rumble...

Her stomach rumbled.
