Chapter 573: Knocking out a White Beast?
’I don’t think I did very well in that first part...’ Lillian thought self-deprecatingly.
Currently, all of them have exited the estate to move into the dense forest - travelling far from the mansion. The next part, which will be the last, will be a combat one where the servants, including her, would have to fight each other.
Lillian walked at the back of the group. She leaned her body to the side, trying to get a view of the judges’ clipboard and was only able to snag a look at the Gardener’s.
[Lillian Ker Arius: 54/100]
’That’s not too bad, I guess...’
Unlike her, the servants had a longer amount of experience when it came to the obstacles they had just faced, while she mainly had experience in cooking and cleaning.
Lillian soon withdrew her gaze when the Gardener turned his head back to look at her, sensing her lingering stare on his clipboard. Lillian whistled innocently while smiling wryly inside.
’I really gotta put my all into this next part...’
After reaching far enough away from the estate, the Gardener turned around to face all the servants. "This should be far enough away. In this part of the competition, you all will fight each other within the forest. No killing is allowed, but serious injuries are. Besides the gear you have on you presently, you are forbidden from using anything else. Now, the moment I say go, you all can run wild."
The tension amongst the group grew thicker, the light inside the forest seemingly darkening as everyone’s eyes glowed like headlights - their eyes darting between each other.
Lillian’s eyes noticed the twitching in their hands, finding them to be restless. She even watched as one of the servants briefly transformed into a beastly claw.
With the only restriction being no killing, Lillian could sense the bloodlust of the servants around her grow dramatically, growing until Lillian swore she could smell it.
Gardener of Roses began to count down, but just like before, only counted down to 4 before skipping straight to go.
"Go!"
After the judges retreated, so did all the servants, who ran away from each other in separate locations - intending to distance themselves.
Lillian was the same; while she was confident she could stomp on most of them rather easily, she was still wary of one person.
Elara Voss.
Unlike the rest of the servants participating, she was someone who could possibly rival her abilities, for the maid was a Tier 3 just like her.
While Lillian was in her thoughts, she immediately tilted her body to the side - swiftly dodging the pounce of a necklace-wearing white tiger. This act was easy for her due to her earring’s [Parallel Thinking] enchantment.
And also because her senses were much heightened compared to her Tier 2 self.
Taking a step back, Lillian watched as the white tiger prowled on her, its eyes gleaming with intelligence and also bloodthirst for her - it was as tall as her. It was undoubtedly one of the servants who had a transformation ability, and it was most likely the one she saw earlier with the claw!
’Their form seem to provide them with better speed—’
SWISH!
’And strength!’
Lillian leaned her upper body far back, dodging the tiger who leapt over her and struck the body of a tree by accident, felling it in a single strike.
Its speed soon multiplied as wind wrapped around its body, making it move even lighter and swifter!
After straightening her back, Lillian watched as the tiger leapt around her, jumping from tree to tree and forming a white, blurry barrier with its body to keep her in.
"Surrender now, and I’ll leave your beauty still recognisable later!" The tiger roared as he summoned razor-sharp winds towards Lillian’s direction.
SWOOSH!
The gust of wind slammed into Lillian like a car, knocking her back and leaving shallow cuts against her skin; a couple on her face. Afterwards, she was hit with a small tornado that tried to rip her from the ground, but wasn’t able to.
Lillian still kept a firm stand against the turbulent winds while emitting a faint mist from her body.
After a few minutes had passed, the tiger decided he should charge back in.
The necklace that hung from his neck was a special item of his. By imbuing his mana into it, he would be able to siphon off some of the momentum he had already built up into it.
This would, in turn, allow him to store unused momentum, which he could use later on in a single burst! And in this context, with his next pounce, he would surely move at a speed that Lillian couldn’t react to!
Thump.
Landing on the trunk of a tree, the tiger pounced towards Lillian with a speed that allowed him to reach a metre from her in the blink of an eye. He then opened his jaws, revealing his sharp fangs that would undoubtedly sink into Lillian’s shoulder.
But then.
"You’re finally within reach."
BANG!
Lillian swung her fist towards the side of the tiger’s head, striking him with a force capable of causing the white beast’s eyes to turn white and making him veer off course.
With his body now off course, he flew and crashed into a tree - headfirst - before plummeting to the ground.
And before he could get up, Lillian had already gone on to dismember him with a swipe of her arm - summoning blades of water that cleaved through his limbs.
Lillian smiled as she lowered her hands, "You’ve lost. I believe Sir Gardener would be with you soon to heal your wounds."
After that, Lillian went off in another direction. Her face then wrinkled in pain when she got far enough away from the tiger. She waved the hand she used to punch and found herself cursing the hard skull of the servant:
"Damn, that hurt! Why do I always unnecessarily resort to my fists!?"
The servant’s speed was undoubtedly fast, even faster than she had expected. However, while he was building up momentum, she was busy emitting water particles in the air - a faint mist basically.
By spreading out that mist, she had essentially made a zone where whatever entered her mist would be notified to her. Granted, it did make her think a bit harder than what she had wanted to make it work, but at least it worked.
Sighing, Lillian ignored the pain soon after, swiftly moving on to find her next target. But when she did, the area of the forest in front of her was blown away!
Lillian raised her arms to shield her face, only being able to look through the small gap between her arms.
She watched as the trees became uprooted, clouds of dirt and dust rising mixed with grass and bushes - Lillian even saw a squirrel and rabbit in the mess as well.
All the things she saw were thrown towards the right by some kind of mysterious force, like gravity had decided to disobey natural orders and turned on its side.
After Lillian had to take a step back to wipe her eyes due to the dust, she soon found herself met with two heavily injured servants.
They were bloody from head to toe and were covered in bruises; one was even missing an arm.
