Chapter 575: The Attendant is...?
Chapter 575: The Attendant is...?
Lillian’s sword clashed with the woman’s steel hairpins, surprisingly unable to slice through them. With the sharpness of Lillian’s sword and her knowledge, Lillian knew that the hairpins were reinforced with enchantments.
The two clashed over and over, with Lillian being on the losing end. She hadn’t ever had to fight with her non-dominant hand before.
Lillian took a step back, trying to distance them, but found Elara’s mana to flare up the moment she did this. The Rabbit squinted her eyes and found the Maid’s steel hairpin to have somehow transformed into illusory snakes.
Non-verbal Expression!
The Rabbit’s pupils shrank as she immediately dashed back to dodge, but found herself too slow.
Using her magic, Elara lightened her body, while pushing her body forward with gravity, making it so she moved much faster than Lillian had expected. She raised her hairpins parallel to each other and stabbed towards Lillian.
The hairpins in the form of illusory snakes slithered through the air and bit into Lillian’s skin. However, their fangs weren’t able to get farther than that.
Lillian kicked the Maid away, taking another step back and transforming her sword into a whip and swinging it.
After recovering from Lillian’s kick, the Maid swiftly moved to dodge.
Ducking under Lillian’s whip, time seemed to slow as Elara watched the Rabbit’s whip expand rapidly before exploding into liquid shrapnel like a grenade.
With swift calculations and reaction time, Elara pulsed with a gravity wave, defending herself and pushing everything around her back; this left a diameter of 10 metres around her to become barren.
This quick reaction had burned through a lot of mana.
With sweat painting her face, Elara raised both her arms in defence as Lillian leapt and delivered a powerful dropkick on her, sending the Maid flying back 20 metres.
Twisting her body and falling back on her feet, Lillian dashed forward - heading straight for the Maid, while splitting half of her mind for another attack.
Elara, who had fallen back into a roll, flipped back up to her feet. Watching as Lillian charged at her, she waved her hand at the trees behind her - uprooting them.
Lillian watched as the trees began to hover high in the air and thought, ’It really is just like telekinesis!’
Summoning an array of water harpoons behind her, Lillian tossed them towards the trees headed her way - piercing and shattering through them with ease.
Although she did have to dodge what remained after.
Elara continued to toss tree after tree, while also trying to catch Lillian off guard and crush one of her limbs. Unfortunately, with all the movement Lillian was making, it was much more difficult compared to when she was standing still.
And Lillian knew this as well.
As Elara was going to toss another tree, she noticed the shadow below her expand in size at an exceeding rate. Was it the clouds? No... Clouds don’t move that fast!
When Elara was about to look up, Lillian had already reached 10 metres from her.
The Rabbit smirked.
She then whispered, "I win."
During the time she was dodging, she had managed to manifest a small pond of water above their positions - similar to what she did to the Jungle Lord; except, this time, this strategy would have a much greater effect.
Elara felt an undeniable pressure fall onto her shoulders, her entire body, and found herself pushed onto her knees. The weight was extremely heavy, and it only grew heavier by the second.
She tried to reduce the weight with her magic, but found it to be useless as it seemed not be affected by gravity! How did that make sense!?
Elara gritted her teeth as she tried to stand up. Though she soon found herself knocked to the ground with four of her limbs pierced through with harpoons.
She was pinned to the ground!
Lillian stood over her - her face stoic - and held the tip of her blade to the Maid’s neck. The Rabbit then tilted her head a little to the side, still continuing to expand the sea above them.
"You’re in no condition to win this now. Give up."
The Maid narrowed her eyes, then glanced at her immobilised limbs. She took note of the level of mana inside her Core before sighing. "I don’t have enough mana to continue..."
If this battle were to the death and they had access to all of their things, it would’ve been different. Lillian thought the same as well.
The Rabbit didn’t know many ways of immobilising a slippery target like Elara, whose attacks had such a wide range and were capable of flying through the air.
Elara was also more or less as fast as she was; strength, maybe she won that department, but barely.
Lillian removed the water harpoons pinning Elara and scratched the side of her head, watching as she got up.
’All I got going for me is my mana capacity.’
Blinking back into reality, Lillian looked down at what used to be her missing arm - now back as though she had never severed it from her body.
She watched as the vines from the Gardener retracted and transformed back into grass. The Gardener of Roses had healed her to peak condition.
While Lillian flexed her newly created arm, she sent several glances at Elara, who snorted back at her before walking away to take a phone call.
Every moment where Elara had used [Gravity Direction] was a moment she could’ve inflicted an attack that would’ve killed her.
Gravity was a primordial force to be reckoned with, after all. Simple actions, such as mimicking telekinesis, were the bare minimum of utilisation.
Gardener of Roses looked down at his clipboard, scribbling down scores while throwing subtle glances at Thorn’s and Marionette’s. After a discussion between the two on how they did, they soon announced the scores.
The maximum score you could get in the first part was 100, while in the second, it was a maximum of 40 points, each elimination granting you 10 points, in addition to stealing all of the points of another participant.
It was safe to say that Lillian scored maximum marks on this part, which brought her total score up to 94.
Unfortunately...
"The winner of the competition is Elera Voss with 95 points."
Just ninety-four wasn’t enough to score her the win.
